5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the PVC one, and you actually can get a little action off the rim.
So I had one of those old PVC pipe basketball nets like this. It fell apart to the point I could not repair it. My wife got me this as a gift to replace it. It is a bit taller. I am not in love with the ball it came with, a bit heavy and small, still using my old ball. But overall, I like it. Mostly, it doesn't fall apart, the pvc one was a nightmare. I just barely inflate it enough to stand up and use a lighter ball and you can get a little bounce of the rim which is nice. The other day I had a shot sit on the rim for what felt like 2 or 3 seconds before it decided to fall in. It's exciting, and that never happens with hard plastic. It seems to hold air very well. After 2 months, have not had to put air in it. If it has a downside, I would say that it is really light, so in an outdoor pool the wind can really push it around. You could, of course, tether it if you choose. I actually use the included ball as just some weight and keep it in the middle of the lower ring in the water to help a bit. Overall, I like it and I would definitely buy it again over the PVC one. I actually bought a PVC replacement first for my old one and broke the dang thing trying to assemble it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Quaility
Good Quality, held up well while traveling. Hard to put back in the box after you take it out. You will need an air pump for the ball, but it comes with a needle.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good pool toy for the kids
I have a nearly 4 year old and nearly 10 year old. Both ages love playing with it. However, it's a cheapish weakish sorry excuse for a basketball hoop. It is a good family fun pool toy however. Just don't have high expectations. It does the job and it's reasonably priced. Again, cheaper than buying from local pool store hands down.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, definitely recommend
A wonderful water game. Our family thoroughly enjoyed this hoop over a weekend, making up stupid games on how we could score baskets. Easy to inflate (definitely need a needle adapter for your air pump for the ball though!) and stood up nicely in the water. One thing to be aware of, the inner-tube (the part that you inflate and floats) is covered by a fabric-type material (the material is undoubtedly made for the water), this is the part of the picture that has the blue and red pattern design on it. I'm sure this fabric is there for a very very good reason, but my nearly 70-year old dad, kept insisting on dunking into the hoop and ended up somewhat water-logging this fabric. Don't worry, the hoop still floated just fine! It just ended up leaning to an angle as there was probably just too much water in the fabric. If you use the hoop more gently, I don't think you'll have this issue. If you, your family, or friends, insist on yelling, "Lebron James!" and leaping across the pool to slam-dunk, you might end up with a lop-sided hoop like we did. Regardless, I know the hoop wasn't destroyed and once dried out, it will resume normal buoyancy.
5.0 out of 5 stars Who slam harder, Onyx or Vince Carter?!?!
Yo, if you consider yourself a baller, and you own a pool/frequent your friends pool, then you NEED this. Not only is it fun popping off dimes, turn around jumpers, fade away mid rangers, step back 3's, reverse dunks, tear drops, and finger roll layups, but it's also improved my regular b-ball shooting percentages drastically.Don't get this for your kids, your friends, or husband/wife. Get this for you. You put in the work, and you owe it to yourself to give yourself a gift that will keep on giving long after your gone.I even heard that this was what Vince Carter used to develop a better shot as he got older and stopped dunking so much, and look at him. He's 42 years old. Do it, i dare you.
5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price! Might not last forever but great for a summer or two!
The media could not be loaded. Got it for our pool this summer and the kids have been using it every weekend. They are 6 and 8 years old and they run and jump in the pool and dunk the ball. And if they land on the hoop (which they like to do) it doesn't pop and just kind of squishes down. Might take a few seconds to pop back up to form (occasionally needs some help depending on how much air is in it), but no big deal. And the ball is just fine for playing in the pool... you're not dribbling it around on cement. When it's out of the pool for a day or two it tends to lose a little bit of air, but just takes a second to blow back up. Plenty of fun for under $20! If it pops, I'll probably buy another one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Kids enjoy
2nd one. Last one lasted about six years. Many hours of pool fun. I used a handheld pump to inflate and took no time at all. For basketball I used enclosed pump needle and put on end of handheld electric pump and held in place until inflated (about5 min).
3.0 out of 5 stars You MUST have a bicycle pump to use this
I searched for awhile for the perfect basketball set for our pool. This one seemed to be it based on the description and reviews, but there are a few issues that keep me from rating it more than "It's okay". First and foremost, the description makes no mention of the fact you have to have a bicycle pump in order to inflate the ball. That's a pretty huge piece of information to omit. The included ball's opening is like a basketball's, there is no way to inflate it without using the pin (included) and a bicycle pump (NOT INCLUDED) Once inflated it seemed well made so in the pool it went. I was surprised to find the ball isn't much smaller than the opening, and with it being as tall as it is, making baskets is more of a challenge than expected. I would think kids would find this pretty frustrating to play with since as an adult I got annoyed within 10 minutes of playing. This is going to be a toy that sits on the lanai and played while sitting down rather than in the pool as hoped for - I'd return it if I hadn't already purchased a pump for the ball.
Fun
This is going to be a well played with water toy...someone we know has the same toy and it's alway the pool toy to play with..grandson will be happy that I bought him one...came in 2 days so good deal...
