These are nice! I use a 6kg crucible (these look like I can go one larger)(maybe) and the width of the closed handles makes it easy to pour. I couldn’t build them for this price! (My labor is expensive)

My biggest crucible is a 6KG and this holds it pretty well. This is more for pouring a crucible, not pulling it out of the furnace. I use a different tool to remove the crucible and then this to pour it. Best tool I could find without spending big.

This is supposed to make pouring from my 1and 3 kg crucibles easier than tongs. The one thing I wish they'd added was a retention tab so the crucible remains in place when halfway inverted. Also, the loop on both handles doesn't slide up and down, but is fixed, and therefore useless with any crucible smaller than 3 kg size.It's lightweight, but I'm not sure how long lastingly durable such lightweight metal will be.

These crucible tongs are perfect for the crucibles that I have used so far, any crucibles that are too big for these tongs may be too heavy for a single person to pour. I will probably buy another set in the future!

So cheaper construction than I expected for the cost. They will do the job though but probably wont last over time. As far as construction goes: the metal thickness on the crucible end is 3mm, The handles are light weight tube steel - about 5/8 inch in diameter, and the spring end is made from 1mm thick sheet metal.The listing on length is incorrect as well. The product overall length is 25 1/2 inches. This means by the time you put both hands on the tool to hold a hot crucible your hands are only 7 inches away from extreme heat. My large channel locks get me 10 inches away!They are painted back with what looks to be just gloss black paint. The coating should last about 3 seconds once it goes into the kiln.It would have been nice to see them painted in a high temp thermal paint.
