This megaphone is great for recess duty at a large elementary school. We have over 200 kids outside in a very large area and they can hear when I call them. It is sturdy and works well. I have 2 of them and use it every day at work!

For the money and what I needed this for, it is perfect in every way. I got it because I’m being Sue Sylvester for Halloween this year and it’s so loud in a good way. The music is a little iffy, but the siren is great. I am so excited to annoy the crap out of everyone I know with this.

I am giving this a 4 stars because it worked in a pinch, arrived quickly when I had little money, and because I was pretty hard on it this last school year. I was using it 4-6 times a day for 20 minutes or more at a time intermittently. For not much money, if you can be more careful than I, it might be exactly what you need.Benefit: it was a lot lighter than the professional one I borrowed before. I like the wrist strap once I got accustomed to the unit hanging by my side. It still works even if it's not pretty anymore and has been dropped and kicked countless times! It is great to communicate to kids (without yelling!).Drawbacks:When I accidentally kicked it a few times (as it hung by my side on the wrist strap) the batteries flew onto the ground! The trigger to the battery compartment is easily released unintentionally. The last time I accidentally dropped it, the handle completely broke off!When the batteries begin to lose power the unit will screech and garble. This will happen even if it is switched off! I began to remove all the batteries and flip them inside the compartment at the end of every use. This causes it to need a moment of setup prior to each use as well.Even though this unit needs replacement it still works and I will likely store it at school broken and hobbled and duct taped together as a backup unit should I utterly destroy the next one as well. That said; I'm going to try spending a little more money this time for something I use for games and instruction nonstop four times a day I should be ready to invest more heavily! But, if you are strapped for cash, this unit will spare your throat immeasurably.

I bought this in 2014 to "emcee" the activities for a child's birthday party, and it was perfect for that. It was loud enough to hear over music played on an ihome-type radio and about 10-12 squealing tween girls for a pretend fashion show. I used it again yesterday for a small raffle event, and the kids had a blast taking turns using it to make their little announcements. I don't know that this would be sufficient for really big, noisy events, but it was great for the indoor party and for the outdoor raffle event, which was on the sidewalk outside an ice cream parlor during the after school rush, and had crowds of about a dozen middle schoolers or less at a time.Also, I saw some reviewers said it doesn't play the Ole Ole song. Mine does (purchased 2 years ago so maybe they've changed it?) but the song is loud, grainy and annoying and the kids can't resist pushing that button, so you might count yourselves lucky not to have that effect!I give this five stars for my purposes and for the great price, but keep your expectations realistic!

I was unsure if the megaphone would work like a real one because of the good price. I know it might sound ridiculous, but I purchased this to "yell" at my kids...lol. I have a soft voice and 3 rowdy ADHD children. Its really hard for me to get their attention when their occupied and I physically am unable to raise my voice loud enough for them to notice without hurting my throat. A friend jokingly suggested I get a megaphone, and so I actually did. It works great! Of course in the house I don't have the volume set to full, because it is very loud. Just half way is all I need to grab the attention from the kiddos. A bonus is when my teenager is down the street, I turned the volume all the way up and yelled her name. She was able to hear me on the street away! Might seem silly to people, but it works perfectly for me. I could see this useful to those during protest and when in noisy environments. Dare I say this would be a handy tool for the classroom???

It wasn't very loud, but I could have expected that for the price. With four D batteries, it did work.

Great megaphone - both indoor and outdoor
I used my new Megaphone outdoors at a rally this past weekend, and it performed flawlessly.. So I am going to upgrade my original review of 4 stars to 5 out of 5 stars. It's a powerful little beast, and the siren and music features are nice extras.
