5.0 out of 5 stars Great install kit
This quality install kit was just what I needed to change out my gear set. Shims provided thickness adjustments and the seals look good quality. Bearing size was spot on and overall it functioned flawlessly. No excessive noise from the pumpkin and the gears mesh well.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality
This is exactly what I need when I was reworking my 2015 GMC 2500 HD 14 bolt rear end.Still wondering why I ever had a problem with it with only 85,000 mi but this was exactly when I needed to fix it
5.0 out of 5 stars Have the proper tooling before you buy.
Everything was of good quality. Koyo bearings I have read are reliable. Plenty of shims for adjusting backlash and bearing preload. And there is a booklet with detailed explanations on tools and technique included underneath everything. Too bad I found it after the fact.I highly recommend buying the proper tooling before attempting a rebuild. It is quite an investment, but you will need a clamshell bearing puller, dial indicator and stand, torque wrench in ft-lb, a dial indicator torque wrench in in-lb for pinion bearing preload, and though possible without but still recommended, a case spreader for removing the carrier from the housing and a bearing warmer to easily install the bearings. Well over a $1000 for all that from reliable brands. Also when setting up your shims, hone out your old bearings (or you can buy setup bearings) and have your old inner pinion race taken to a machine shop to take a few thousandths off the outside (or buy a setup pinion) so that you easily install and remove to add or subtract shims when setting your backlash and preload. It is very time consuming and a lot of patience is required. If you don't have the experience you will install the carrier four or five times to get the shims right, but it is not too difficult if you take the time to do it correctly. This was my first axle rebuild but I plan on doing more in the future, so it was worth the time and investment to do it myself.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fits 97 wrangler
97-06 short axle tj kit works great
4.0 out of 5 stars Good but small selection of shims
Ordered two kits for a couple of front Dana 60 regears. Ordered on special for $130 each which is a fantastic deal. The only complaint is the small assortment of shims. Had to combine the shims from both install kits to get a decent assortment, hopefully will have enough for the second install. The inner pinion oil slinger is massive, did not fit my Superduty D60 housing so i left it out.I had Timken setup bearings for the carrier and this kit uses Koyo which is a good bearing brand. But my final install did change alittle and my backlash went from .006" to .010" but that is not the kits fault. Just make sure to use new and same brand setup bearings as the final bearings used.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very comprehensive kit.
Everything that i needed was included in the fitting kit. The paper gasket was the wrong part for my axle but it's an easy job to make your own gasket.
1.0 out of 5 stars Wrong image for part number
If you are hoping to receive the bearings in the picture, you won't. You will receive Koyo bearings. The correct part number for the picture listed is YK-D70-U.
5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of extra parts if you're rebuilding a D44.
Some of the parts aren't needed at all for a D44 so I'm not sure why they are included unless this kit covers D30...which it doesn't indicate. Otherwise, decent bearings, shims, and seals.
Great quality!
My hubby wasn’t overly thrilled with the gasket but the other parts is what he needed!
complete kit
every brg, seal, shims. good product
Spot on great value for full kit.
Buy the kit. Don’t waste time on individual bearings. However, I had a posi housing with standard internals so I should have got the standard 8” kit and kept my star spacer from my pinion shaft.Auto shops charge like $380 for these kits.
2010 Ford F150 v8 5.4
Product came in a timely manner. Was well sealed and packaged.Seems likeGood quality. Heads up! By a gasket as it does not come with one. It has a gasket maker instead. Product as I looked it up takes 24 to 49 hours to dry ,which can be an inconvenience to not use the vehicle.
