5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite popcorn
I use a silicone microwave popcorn popper and love the results with these kernels. Great texture, tons of crunchy half popped kernels (known to some as "old maids"-my favorite), and a very distinct corny\earthy\nutty flavor. I'm kind of surprised by some of the negative reviews, but my wife and I (and the dogs) love this popcorn
1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Popcorn ever.
Worst popcorn I have ever used. Very disappointed in this product. I have popped popcorn on the stovetop for over 50 years and this was the worst, I picked out many broken and discolored kernels and some debris that should not be there. It poped small and was very chewy lots of old maids and half pops. I tried several times over a 30 day period and had the same poor results each time. Went back to my cheap plastic bag of bulk popcorn and that batch came out fine. Very disappointed in this product.
4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good but misleading!
I enjoy this popcorn, as it pops big and has a satisfying crunch. HOWEVER BE AWARE that the kernels do NOT pop like mushroom kernels. They are still butterfly shape and not the typical spheres you expect. Also they seem to get smoky pretty fast, but not fully burnt. So unfortunately they are not what I wanted, but at least it's still a pretty tasty compromise
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product and great flavor.
I used to make popcorn very often but lately I have been using Pop Secret Movie Theater Butter Microwave Popcorn for home movie night but I missed that Real movie popcorn since I have not been to the movies in the last couple of months. So I bought Snappy Yellow Mushroom Popcorn Kernels, 4lb. and Flavacol Popcorn Seasoning. This is the real deal, I use a pot over a gas burner with great results, I don't know the results from other methods such as air poppers. The method I use is to use a 4-5 qt. pot that has a handle and put 1/3 cup of Vegetable oil (I know other oils give better taste and texture but I think Veg. gives a clean good taste). Heat the oil a few minutes on medium heat and then add 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels then add 1/2 teaspoon of Flavacol Popcorn Seasoning sprinkled on top of the kernels, the kernels will start to sizzle. I use a round splatter screen to prevent the popcorn to pop out of the pot and when the popcorn starts popping shake the pan every few seconds to make sure the un-popped kernels go to the bottom, I get about 95% of all the popcorn popped and then take off burner and serve immediately. The popcorn comes out Great, big popped corn and perfectly seasoned with that Real Movie taste, you can add butter (I don't ) but either way it's very good.
2.0 out of 5 stars Too hard to eat.
This kind of popcorn is not my favorite. Sorry to say that. It is probably good for some people. It gets to hard and chewy to eat and can't keep it fresh. The kernels are not popped easily either. I'm say this comparing to other kinds of popcorn.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money
It tastes good with a few un-popped kernels but it has too many hulls for me. Maybe if I didn't wear dentures it would not matter, but since I do, the hulls make it difficult for me to eat. I also expected larger and fluffier popped corn.
1.0 out of 5 stars Worst popcorn in the history of popcorn
If i could give this less than one star I would. I used a silicone bowl specifically made for popping popcorn in the microwave with a little bit of olive oil. This corn hardly pops and if it does it does't look like mushroom popcorn. It's hard and almost burnt looking and it tastes terrible like it's stale.I follow the same procedure that works fine with all the others brand I've tried, so it's not how I'm popping it. It's just bad popping corn. The photo I posted shows the level after fully popped, but with other corn I typically pop it would be overflowing. This corn would be better used filling corn hole bags.
5.0 out of 5 stars My Sister was pleased to try this & discovered that my Nephew could ...
Of all the popcorn brands & types I've tried, the Snappy Popcorn blows them all away for flavor, kernels that didn't pop, & little to no hard husks left after popping on the individual pieces. My Sister was pleased to try this & discovered that my Nephew could eat these with his braces where he couldn't with "normal" popcorn because of the softer hulls left on the popcorn after popping. I have dentures & can easily eat the mushroom popcorn without them in where "normal" popcorn could be painful because of the hard hulls left after popping.I have already made converts of 6 friends who, after having a couple handfuls, asked where I got it because they never saw it the grocery stores. One of them has a theater style hot air popper in his home theater & wouldn't mind buying this type of popcorn in bulk - that's how much he liked it.I highly recommend anyone to at least try this product. In the past 2 months, I've ordered 3 of these 4 pound containers. Most recently I ordered 2 & when those run out, I'll be ordering 2 more.
