So I bought Snappy Yellow Mushroom Popcorn Kernels, 4lb. and Flavacol Popcorn Seasoning. This is the real deal, I use a pot over a gas burner with great results, I don't know the results from other methods such as air poppers. The method I use is to use a 4-5 qt. pot that has a handle and put 1/3 cup of Vegetable oil (I know other oils give better taste and texture but I think Veg. gives a clean good taste). Heat the oil a few minutes on medium heat and then add 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels then add 1/2 teaspoon of Flavacol Popcorn Seasoning sprinkled on top of the kernels, the kernels will start to sizzle. I use a round splatter screen to prevent the popcorn to pop out of the pot and when the popcorn starts popping shake the pan every few seconds to make sure the un-popped kernels go to the bottom, I get about 95% of all the popcorn popped and then take off burner and serve immediately. The popcorn comes out Great, big popped corn and perfectly seasoned with that Real Movie taste, you can add butter (I don't ) but either way it's very good.

These kernels are labeled as mushroom popcorn kernels, but they pop into regular popcorn shape - not mushroom popcorn shape. What’s more, they pop *very* poorly. The kernels that do manage to pop do it about half way and do not provide the light, fluffy popcorn you’d actually enjoy eating. It’s more like grapenuts. Also, on at least two occasions, I tasted mold in the popcorn. The kernels didn’t look moldy and the date on the container was still fresh. Nevertheless, I’ve gotten occasional mouthfuls of moldy tasting popcorn. I don’t know if I can even make myself finish the second half of this tub of kernels. I am so disappointed.

It tastes good with a few un-popped kernels but it has too many hulls for me. Maybe if I didn't wear dentures it would not matter, but since I do, the hulls make it difficult for me to eat. I also expected larger and fluffier popped corn.

I didn't even know that there was another type of popcorn - MUSHROOM popcorn. It pops into an almost completely round shape which makes it better for coating with cheese or caramel. It's much easier to tell the difference between completely popped and only partially popped kernels, so there's much less chance of biting on something hard. It also seems to pop into larger pieces which is nice. I recommend MUSHROOM popcorn to all.

While the popped kernels are delicious, there were so many unpopped or half-popped kernels. I might have been able to get past that, but the eating experience was absolutely terrible. SOOOO many hulls that were tough and cupped so they stuck to the back of my tongue. Maybe it's a mushroom popcorn thing. This is my first time splurging on it, so I don't know. What I do know is that as someone who will make giant buckets of popcorn instead of a meal more than one night a week, the fact that I'm shying away from even making a second bowl of this stuff should speak volumes about how enjoyable it is.I should have read the reviews first . Will not buy again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good but misleading!

I enjoy this popcorn, as it pops big and has a satisfying crunch. HOWEVER BE AWARE that the kernels do NOT pop like mushroom kernels. They are still butterfly shape and not the typical spheres you expect. Also they seem to get smoky pretty fast, but not fully burnt. So unfortunately they are not what I wanted, but at least it's still a pretty tasty compromise

this popcorn must have been old. tested oil temp , waited for 3 kernels to pop. then added 3/4 cup, only half popped and was small.what really sucks is there is no return with this waste of time popcorn. Will never buy again from this company. my family and i eat lots of popcorn. our fav snack.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite popcorn

I use a silicone microwave popcorn popper and love the results with these kernels. Great texture, tons of crunchy half popped kernels (known to some as "old maids"-my favorite), and a very distinct corny\earthy\nutty flavor. I'm kind of surprised by some of the negative reviews, but my wife and I (and the dogs) love this popcorn
