I initiated this Alaska Bear cigar cutter the other day by using it to lop off the end of my very first Punch Chateau L maduro cigar. Having recently taken delivery of a box of 25 of these coveted and rather expensive (for me, at least) smokes, and having gone all-out by also purchasing accessories consisting of a nice humidor, butane lighter, humidifying crystals, digital hygrometer and the aforementioned Alaska Bear double-guillotine cigar cutter, it was with some trepidation that I carefully and nervously positioned the tip of the cigar at the business end of the Alaska Bear for its ritual circumcision. The attractive, compact, durable, finely-crafted and reasonably-priced Alaska Bear cutter performed flawlessly, cleaving the tip from the Chateau L with an effortlessness and precision of cut that I found to be remarkable. Settling back in my easy chair for for a leisurely smoke, I then ceremoniously lit the cigar, took my first draw, and as I raised a glass of fine Kentucky bourbon to my lips, knew that life doesn't get any better than this.

it's easy to cut but the ring size is not very wide, as I cannot get a 60 ring thru it without trimming off center. Other than that, I like it just fine.

This product comes exactly as advertised...no more and no less. The blades are very sharp, the steel has an attractive brushed finish and the felt bag is a nice accessory. But the build quality is a little lacking. The blades are not linked and so they move independently which can result in an uneven cut. Also, the blades are quite loose within the frame when fully opened, making it feel a little cheap. When closed it feels solid and you can feel each blade sharpening the other when you close this cutter. The price was right and I may grow to like it more as I continue to use it and I will adjust my feedback accordingly but, for now, I can only give it 3 stars.***UPDATE*** This seller is as sharp as this cutter! Upon my posting my initial review I got a message expressing regret that the cutter did not meet my expectations and offering me a refund or a replacement at no charge and no need to return the original cutter. As my whole point was to purchase a cutter I opted for the replacement. Though it took longer to arrive than the original the replacement is in much better condition. While just as sharp and functional, the new cutter was packaged in an additional plastic sleeve to protect the finish, which was much shinier than the original. The replacement's build quality is also measurably tighter but there is still a little play in the blades when fully opened and they are not linked so each moves independently, though that is not terribly noticeable when actually cutting a cigar. the blades are tight when they come together and that is what really matters. Anyone looking for a quality entry-level cutter would do very well to order this one if, for no other reason, the customer service is outstanding. For that they have earned a fourth star. Now my dilemma is who to give my original cutter to.....First World problems you know...

I've had many expensive cutters over the last 30 years of smoking cigars. Eventually they do get dull if I don't lose them first. LOL. Figured I would give this one a try and I will say I was pleasantly surprised. At this price point when it does eventually get dull or I lose it will just get another one. Not fancy as more expensive options, but it came sharp and works excellent.

Weight and finish are nice. Blades seem pretty sharp, but as others have mentioned the blade fit is fairly loose and sloppy. This cutter is just going into the camping gear for sporadic use so I’ll probably keep it otherwise it’s probably a return.

This cutter is very sharp and works perfectly. At this price it is an absolute steal. Anyone considering a quality cutter for home or a travel cutter should consider this one.
