I am just getting into cooking more home cooked meals since I work at home now and found it tedious and time consuming to slice and chop some of the things I was cooking to the point I was avoiding recipes that required a lot of slicing.A friend suggested that I get a mandolin but to skip the plastic ones and get a 'nice professional grade' model. OUCH!! When I saw some of the prices of the top end models I was going to just pass until I saw this one. It was still a little more than I wanted to pay but after using this a few times now I would have paid more!I love that there are no real blades to swap out and it is easy to clean with just a sink sprayer but after a day of using it it easily tossed right in the dishwasher and it's sparkling clean again.Changing between cuts is as easy and turning a know or sliding a switch and can be changed up very quickly and easily. The hand held part and the slider work flawlessly together and were very smooth no matter how much I jammed in there to slice. It only has 4 cut thicknesses which seemed low compared to some of the others but with a little practice and the pressure you use I can consistently get more than the 4.My first time using it it was so quick and easy I sliced enough potatoes to make two big trays of scalloped potatoes and some french fries in less than 5 minutes! It took me MUCH long to just peel the potatoes!!Solid, easy to use, quick to clean, and not having to mess with or touch the blades makes this perfect for me being a novice cook but I can see anyone using this and enjoying it.Normally I would do a PROS and CONS at the end of my review for something like this but there is no need here. Everything works great and if I come across something that I do not like or think it does not do well I will update this review.

Updated September 1, 2022Still with the investment and still as awesome as when purchased.Original post:I never really appreciated being able to slice vegetables so much as I do with this mandolin. I got this to replace a broken pampered chef slicer. This is incredibly sharp and has stayed so for five years it is easy to use And the slices are always consistent. The food guard is large enough for good size vegetables. It is extremely easy to switch from Julianne to straight slicing as well as the thickness adjustment it is also incredibly easy to flip the blade from the straight blade to the wavy blade. It is easy to clean and sturdy. It does not have multiple plates like so many other products seem to have but it does it’s job incredibly well. I have not yet figured out A way to great cheese compared to the pampered chef the slicer but with all the other uses this has and how much more I got used than my previous one it has well been worth it I now just use a greater over a bowl for cheese. I had purchased one other one prior to this and sent it back quickly it was not nearly as sturdy or easy to use.

cons: it's plastic so don't ever drop it., It fell off my counter and broke apart by the side where the blade can twist / flip. The straight blade for cutting the food has tiny parts of the blade chipped off. i think the happens when the skewer metal sticks which hold the food in place hit against the blade. Therefore i don't use those skewer anymore. Instead, i place the food into the guide circle, then i place the hand glide over it and press down on the white part so that those metal skewers don't get released. Works better for me and i can still slice my food in seconds, without damaging the blade.Pros: It is every easy to clean, Just rinse under running water back and front, open the metal flap at the bottom also. if you cut strong smelling food or food that's sticky just use a dish brush with soap to clean where necessary. I love the versatility of the cuts. I would have to buy 4 different kitchen implements to get these variety of cuts. It's easy to use, i didnt need a manual, just started cutting and adjusting the nobs to see what i like. It is sturdy, it doesn't slide when i am using it fast. I can cut super thin onion rings in 15 seconds from a large onions. When i am not using the hand guard i would not speed through cutting. I can cut asparagus in perfect halves lengthwise, which makes them cook faster and taste better since they absorb all the seasonings from the fry. I would definitely recommend this for every day use...

I was looking at restaurant grade mandolins and came across this on Bolo. Since it was mostly metal I decided to give it a shot. I was very happy with the all-in-one design. There are no blades to change which limits the chances of cutting yourself. It cleans very easily and again, without having the remove the blade. It might take a little time to figure out how to hose down all the nooks and crannies but once you do it's a breeze.I also like the fact that the dials let you choose up to 5 thick/thin settings. I haven't had to go above or below the settings available. And the thinnest setting is prefect for making potato chips for frying or baking. I've only used the waffle setting once but it was very easy and worked great. Again, all there was to switch over to it was to turn the dial for the blade to the other side. My fingers were never near the blade during this.If you read this and other reviews and someone mentions the blade is dull and wouldn't cut anything, I can only tell you this was DEFINITELY not the case with mine. Right out of the box it sliced through a 3" sweet potato like it was a hot knife cutting marshmallows. I'm going to assuming this was a manufacturing issue that they have resolved. This is the best mandoline out there for the money. Don't spend a penny more or less. This is the one!

De messen zijn niet super scherp, dat merk je bv wanneer je verse tomaten snijdt.Het apparaat voelt degelijk en stabiel aan. Na een 5tal weken gebruik, braken de knoppen om de snijdikte etc te regelen af. Leverancier gaf hiervoor geen garantie. Intussen heb ik terug een goedkoper alternatief in gebruik...

Love this slicer & the guard.I just started using a food dyhidrator 3 weeks ago, so I purchased a $25.00 cheap mandoline at a food fair. The blade became loose after 4 uses & broke when I tried to slice beets. So garbage it went. :(I looked online for a strong Mandoline & the reviews were very positive for this model. I watch a video on YouTube from the shopping channel on this model. I was impressed.I purchased it last week & have been using it daily.The first veggy I tried wasssss, yup Beets! HeheIt worked fantastic! The guide was great. I love the fact the teeth slide up as the food gets smaller. Great idea.I have been slicing every veggie to every fruit.The other blades are easy to change. Clean up is quick & easy.I would purchase again. But I hope not for a while.Happy slicing! You will not be sorry for purchasing this product.
