5.0 out of 5 stars The taste of Home
I grew up in Atlanta, and the only mayo I ever ate was either Blue Plate (my mother used it exclusively) or Duke's. The taste is the same, it has a nice rich taste and is good and thick for sandwiches. I'm rehooked!
5.0 out of 5 stars Best Mayo this side of Best Foods/Hellman’s Mayo
This is my first Bolo review for any product. I am a mayo freak. This Blue Plate Mayo met my expectations and almost exceeded them which is why I chose to make a review so others looking for a good Mayo can hopefully read this and give it a try, if you haven’t already.Growing up, we aways had Mayo in the house but I didn’t give a thought as to the brand of Mayo. My parents bought Best Foods/Hellman’s or Kraft Mayo or whatever was cheapest. It wasn’t until I was 14 that a friends dad made us a sandwich with Best Foods that I came to realize, I was a Best Foods fanatic. My friends dad would eat it by the spoonful and even put it on his pancakes. He was nuts. But I came to notice the difference of Best Foods to other Mayo. Hey...to each their own. We all have different taste. But to me, Best Foods has a nice taste, bite and good texture. It was and has been my go-to Mayo. I’ve purchased and tried many, many Mayo’s through the years but stuck with Best Foods. Their Vegan brand was the best vegan brand of Mayo that I have ever had too but then they changed the recipe and from what I hear, it tastes like plastic and is now inedible. WTF Best Foods??? Anyways.I made New Orleans Po Boys and online ordered the original Po Boy bread to the house and found out about Blue Plate NO (New Orleans) Mayo. Bought it not expecting much.Boy was I wrong. This Mayo is delicious, has a more velvety consistency than Best Foods but is very similar. Any fan of Best Foods/Hellman‘a will be pleasantly surprised and fans of other Mayo will find this to be a tasty new Mayo to add into your fridge. I’m kinda addicted to it. The taste is slightly “eggier” than BF/Hellman’s but it’s not in a bad way. I don’t like egg tasting foods but find this perfect. As others noted, it’s less “gelatinous” than BF’s but I found the consistency very close, but slightly creamier. The flavors are very similar but it’s savory, but just slightly more than BF’s.All in all, for $4-5 a jar, it’s well worth the buy and if you like BF’s/Hellmans like I do, this Mayo will do you right in a very good way. I hope you enjoy it as much as I. If not...like I said, it’s all personal preference. As a BF’s/Hellman’s enthusiast, I found that this is on par, if not 1% better. That’s huge coming from me, for anyone who knows me. Just my 2 cents though folks. This is a great Mayo, I enjoy it.***for this who ordered and it separated...that’s most likely due to being stored in high temperatures for too long. It contains oil and eggs, so they will separate with high heat. I bought a jar through Bolo and it was perfect. But to those who receive a separated jar, message Bolo. I’m sure they will help to fix it. Or take a jar of your Mayo, set it out in the sun for several hours..you’ll get the same result.Hope all are well, this is a great Mayo. Enjoy!!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Top tier mayonnaise
This Blue Plate Mayonnaise is delicious! I appreciate the quality ingredients. I also appreciate the price point for a good sized container. I’m a first time buyer and I find the taste to be better than most of the name brands. I will definitely be buying again.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good Mayo. Cheaper than at my supermarket
I get mayonnaise on Bolo when it's cheaper than my local options. This brand was decent. Made good sandwiches, tuna salad, etc.
5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious!
I was originally buying a 3-pack of Hellman's mayonnaise, which I love, then it was Best Foods (which is the same as Hellman's) then I switched to Blue Plate and we really love this mayonnaise. I only wish it wasn't made with soybean oil. If it was non-GMO soybean oil that would be great. I've tried many mayonnaises made with different oils (please read the labels because many mayonnaises out there state they are made with avocado or other oils but still have soybean oil in them) but they don't have the taste the family likes. I could make my own but mayonnaise is our #1 condiment so I'd have to make it by the gallon!
5.0 out of 5 stars Jar Too Small
Thought the picture was showing a larger sized product. Good brand but too expensive for the size.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good consistency
Good flavor, spreads easily, tastes great in my homemade salads, this one is perfect size for my use.
3.0 out of 5 stars A Creamy and Versatile Condiment with Mixed Reviews
I recently tried Blue Plate Real Mayonnaise, a classic condiment that's been around for over a century. The 30-ounce jar is a good size for a household of 2-3 people and can last a while. I was curious to see how this mayonnaise brand would compare to my usual go-to, and I have mixed feelings about it.On the positive side, the texture of Blue Plate Real Mayonnaise is smooth and creamy, just as you would expect from a good quality mayonnaise. It spreads easily and doesn't clump or separate. It has a pleasant flavor that's not too tangy or too sweet, making it versatile and great for a variety of dishes. I particularly enjoyed it as a dip for fries and as a base for homemade chicken salad. However, one downside is that it contains more calories and fat than other brands I have tried. While this isn't a dealbreaker for me, it's something to keep in mind if you're trying to watch your calorie intake. Another issue is that the jar's lid is a bit flimsy and doesn't screw on tightly, which can lead to spills and messes if you're not careful when handling it.Overall, I would give Blue Plate Real Mayonnaise a 3 out of 5-star rating. It's a good quality product with a smooth texture and pleasant flavor, but the higher calorie and fat content, as well as the flimsy lid, make it less appealing than other mayonnaise brands. However, if you're a fan of classic mayonnaise and don't mind the extra calories, it's worth giving Blue Plate Real Mayonnaise a try. Here's a comparison between Blue Plate Real Mayonnaise and Hellmann's Real Mayonnaise:Blue Plate Real Mayonnaise, 30 Ounce Jar:• Made with simple, high-quality ingredients• Creamy texture with a tangy taste• No artificial colors or flavors• Gluten-free and Kosher certified• Comes in a convenient 30-ounce jarHellmann's Real Mayonnaise, 30 Ounce Jar:• Made with cage-free eggs and soybean oil• Creamy texture with a rich, savory taste• No artificial colors or flavors• Gluten-free and certified Kosher• Comes in a convenient 30-ounce jarBoth Blue Plate and Hellmann's are popular and high-quality brands of mayonnaise. Both use simple, high-quality ingredients and do not contain artificial colors or flavors. Both are gluten-free and Kosher certified.Blue Plate has a tangy taste, while Hellmann's has a richer, more savory taste. Blue Plate does not specify the source of its eggs or oil, while Hellmann's uses cage-free eggs and soybean oil.Ultimately, the choice between the two brands may come down to personal preference for taste or dietary restrictions. However, both are reliable options for those looking for a high-quality mayonnaise product.
This is REALLY VERY NICE !
I used to think Best Foods Mayonnaise was the default available here. The Blue Plate easily topples it from my preferred choice because it made my very simple Potato Salad have something more to offer.
