These have been around for 50 years+. They are a great toy. These particular examples are heavy plastic and are quite genuine in their quality. Everything you remember as a kid. I only gave 4 stars for "Easy to read" because the font size on the reading surface is (and always was) very small.

This magic eight ball has been around for 50 years I think . It’s just as fun now at parties as it was 50 years ago ask a question get an answer pass it around. It’s still a cool little toy. It wants me to check in age of the user of this toy on the next page… I’m an old geezer, and this was a appropriate humorous gift for another old geezer, and that age was not in the chart, but I would say if you can talk if you can ask a yes or no question that you really Would like a impartial unprejudiced answer. This is an appropriate gift. I would recommend this gift for everyone it’s fun.

I hesitated to buy this because some of the reviews were a bit concerning, but I'm glad I did. It's as fun as the one I had as a kid. Doesn't feel quite as sturdy, but not so flimsy that I'm concerned. The text does feel a bit small, but I'm sure that's more about my eyesight than the 8 ball.(As for the complaints in some reviews about the bubbles, folks, you're not supposed to shake them. That was true with the originals. Just flip it over briskly.)

I bought this as a gift for a work colleague because we have a running joke when we get complicated questions from our customers that we are going to ask the Magic 8 Ball. My Magic 8 Ball arrived in the cool retro box I remember as a kid. Luckily it still had an opening in the box where you could try the Magic 8 Ball, without opening the box, and see what it said in response to your question. For whatever reason the message piece of this rarely if ever showed the message against the viewing window on the bottom of the 8 Ball. I had my spouse try it and no luck. I was very lucky to notice this before wrapping it up and gifting it. Too funny, when I took to Bolo return desk, the attendant even tried it and said, she loved the old Magic 8 Balls as a kid, but this one was just not readable and apologized for me having to return it.

Finally a different look than the original!
The media could not be loaded. I like this version very much. What a great idea to have finally changed the look of the original 8 ball and make it more geared to the feminine and with cute little fun answers. This one is sooo much prettier than the original black and white billiards ball (it's closer to a purple in color than it looks in the pics or in my video). It still works like the original 8 ball, the print is still small so it is sometimes hard to read it (I need a magnifying glass, or my phone camera as I am older and my eyes are not good) and it does still land on the tip/s of the die but if you tip it gently a bit one way or the other, or give it a gentle shake, the die will settle with the words in the window.As the description says, some of the "answers" are inspired by the movie "DreamWorks Trolls Band Together", but some are still the same as the original 8 ball. According to the internet the original 8 ball has 20 different answers but google had nothing on this version other than what the advertised product descriptions had. So I played around with this one for a bit (without asking questions) just to see what some of the answers were and I managed to get 20 different answers so I think I got all of them for this version, and I thought I would include them with this review for all of you.-- As I see it yes! -- All is in harmony -- Not yet, chin up -- My sources say no -- Soon, stay poptimistic -- Sweet harmony Yes! -- Sketchy energy, Hug it out -- Signs point to Yes! -- Negativo, capital Nope -- Biggest loudest Yes! -- Ask again later -- Hot lunch, that's a Yes! -- Bro-lax, all good -- As sure as cupcakes -- Yes! Great throwback
Bought this to replace one I lost many years ago. Ah the memories... Still has the same answers as the one I had back when, it just works harder on the newer, more philosophical questions I ask of it. Not a life changing crystal ball, it's still as tough to read if shaken too hard, but has the charm and the nostalgia I wanted. Great item, thanks.
Damaged packaging.
I very rarely give negative reviews - but I had to with this purchase. It arrived in fantastic time but, like some of the other reviews, the items boxed came battered and cracked. This didn't happen in transit, it was packed like this.I normally wouldn't mind, but as I'm purchasing it as a gift it would have been nice if it had arrived in perfect condition.Originally I had given this 2 stars but as I was writing it, I decided to take it out of the box to make sure it actually worked. It feels like a used product. The plastic holding the together has been hastily taped together, or at least it looks like it.If her birthday wasn't imminent, I would 100% be asking for a refund.Anyway, I hope I won't have to give a negative review anytime soon.
