Small Pet Select 3rd Cutting Super Soft Timothy Hay Pet Food for Picky Eaters, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, and Other Small Animals, Easy to Store Box, 10 LB

Description:

About this item:

  • Super Soft Timothy Hay for Picky Eaters - 3rd cutting Timothy hay is a super soft and leafy cut of hay that is less available than rougher cuts, but is the perfect blend for picky eaters or pets recovering from an illness. The low stem to leaf ratio is easier to eat and enticing to rabbits and other pets that won't eat stems.
  • Hand-Selected Timothy Hay - We hand-pack each box in small batches to ensure only the highest quality 100% US-grown 3rd cut Timothy hay arrives at your door. We source our hay in the best fields of Timothy hay grown specifically for pet food so that your little friend gets a safe, tasty supply.
  • Earth-Friendly Packaging - As small animal owners, we know the importance of packing delicious snacks in safe ways for our small animal companions. No compression packing here that damages stem and leaf integrity, each package is shipped in a high-strength corrugated box for easy storage (and fun digging!).
  • Minimally Handled & Delivered Fresh - Make it easy to provide exactly what your little friend needs with regular shipments of fresh from the farm hay to wear down growing teeth and protect digestive health. Each delivery of premium Timothy hay for rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas includes a great mix of protein, fiber and fat to keep them healthy. Your small pet may not thank you with words, but happy oinks and binkies will make you feel like the pet owner of the year.
  • 100% Satisfaction Guarantee! - For you and your pets. We know pets can be picky. If your bunny (or piggy or chinny) stomps and turns up her nose, you can still rest easy.
  • Perhaps you have a pet that’s a bit of a fussy eater. And you want to ensure that they’re still getting grass hay in their diet. In which case, Super Soft and Leafy 3rd Cutting Timothy Hay might well be the answer to your problems. How is this hay different? 1) Very soft, contains less stem and seed head than second cutting - it is our softest Timothy Hay; a great way to get even the fussiest of eaters starting to enjoy hay. 2) Rare to find because it’s difficult to produce well, so most farmers simply don’t bother. 3) Harvested in late summer/early fall when the weather begins to change, this type of hay is hard to find.

They will throw more than half of it in their litter box and we just throw it away when I have to give them that.I used to get it soft like 2nd-3rd cut half the time, and half the time it was the hard green stuff but recently, they stopped selling anything else aside from first cut it seems. The brand I bought didn't sell other cuts, so I don't know what happened or why the hay just stopped being soft ever, but it became a real problem, because I was spending a lot of money on hay, and my bunnies wouldn't even eat the majority of it.I was a little worried when I read the reviews and saw that a lot of people said the larger sizes weren't any good, because I definitely needed a larger size, but for the price I figured it was still worth it to try. I paid the same amount for 20 lbs of this that I would spend on 5lbs of the hay they don't eat.It was perfect! There were a couple little weeds in it but nothing that effected the overall quality or was bothersome. First cut is always a little dusty, but again, not a problem. They now eat ALL of their hay, and I'm getting way more for way less money! Everyone wins! I wish they would sell it in stores, but I'll definitely continue to buy this from now on. Even if I do get a bad batch here and there it's worth it for the reasonable cost and nice quality of the hay.And another plus, I don't have to wear gloves to feed them anymore either! The other hard green hay used to actually cut my hands up. My hands are sensitive. I always had to wear gloves. This is so soft, it doesn't poke in the slightest. If you have picky hay-eaters, I would highly recommend this, and I know my rabbits would too!

I've been using Small Pet Select hays for several years for my nearly 12 year old bunny. It varies which cutting he prefers but because of his age he seems to prefer the softer Third cut timothy hay. Clean and good quality hay. I'm very picky about hay having purchased hay for years for my horses and my rabbit. It makes a big difference in their digestive health. The boxes work well for small pet use.

1.0 out of 5 stars brown colored hard stick hay far from the 3rd cutting soft hay i ordered

    t. · March 10, 2023

I never leave reviews for the hay i buy but i think its time for one. I've had 4 guinea pigs for over 5+ years and i've tried all types of hay from many websites/retail stores. When the hay is good (good quality) this is a very good buy but when the hay is bad (bad batch) guinea pigs wont touch this. This is bad quality hay that i recieved today.I pray whoever is new to owning/having guinea pigs knows the difference between green hay and brown hay and that guinea pigs should not be fed brown colored hay. It's the equivalent of a rotten apple or tomotoe at the store which you would never eat or give to a friend/relative unless you wanted to get sick. Guinea pig hay should always be green. you will never find me giving my guinea pigs brown hay like this. Also this is 3rd cutting which was supposed to be leafy and soft but its like sticks. The difference between actually leafy hay and the stick kind is that leafy hay is extremely soft and flexible. The stick type is very hard and you can barely bend it. I've grabbed stick hay before and it hurt my hand (while cleaning) and i wonder if guinea pigs ever get hurt touching this either with thier feet/body etc....anyway...I have ordered 3rd cutting hay in the past and for the most part i did get soft leafy green hay which my guinea pigs love. But this is whats referred to as a bad batch.

this kind of hay was green and fresh but also very crunchy. It's a good thing for our bun buns to wear their teeth down on.

I have a very picky Holland Lop. We used to get her hay straight from a local farm and then they closed up and moved away. We then had no choice but to get her store bought hay. She absolutely hated each and every type we bought directly in store or online from Bolo and would refuse to eat it. That was until we discovered small pet select hay. We first tried small pet select premium ultra soft hay which she enjoyed, but she was going through it so quickly and the price for the small bag didn’t fit our budget. I saw an ad for this 3rd cutting Timothy hay and decided to give it a try. She is in love with this 3rd cutting Timothy hay and eats it constantly! She’s always munching on it. The price and size are very reasonable too. Definitely try this if you have a picky rabbit.

I am caring for an elderly mini lop who has lost interest in chewing. Switching to this 3rd cutting soft hay has helped encourage her to eat at least SOME hay. Thank you very much for making this available. This is my second order of 2 lb boxes and I am mostly pleased with the product. I find no seed heads, very little stem and almost no shatter and dust in the bottom of the box. It really is soft (compare it to 1st or 2nd cut timothy from any source) totally leafy, smells like good hay, but the color is not as green or consistently green as I would wish. My purchases have both been during this summer, 2020. Probably the new crop in a month or so should appear much fresher than last season's 3rd cut.

Ma guinea pig was sick and wouldn't eat. We gave her Critical Care but were fearing that she would have a tooth problem from not eating hay. This hay is a miracle. Very soft, it was easy to eat despite the pain she was in.The best quality out there, everything will be eaten, no waste.

    Fresh hay

One of my guinea pig is a picky eater, he won't eat a lot of hay so he has to visit the vet for his molar trim quite often. I found out this 3rd cut of hay may help him. On the first few days he sniffed it, but then he did start eating it. It's been almost a few weeks now, he eats it everyday and he seems really like it.

Super soft and leafy, smells so good. Our piggies love the third cut timothy, there's never any waste making it good value. Very low dust, good for sneezy pigs too.
