5.0 out of 5 stars Great value and the pads work really well
I tell you what- you can’t beat this deal for a full set of brakes. I’ve been running Callahan brake kits on all my cars/trucks for years but they didn’t offer a kit for the 2012 veloster, so I ordered this kit. The black coating is sharp (comes off the rotor surface after the first drive but the hub and fin areas stay coated- makes kind of a mess but the pads bed in quickly)The car stops great now and the rotors look good still too. This is a great budget brake set up that gives you surprisingly good quality.
5.0 out of 5 stars Shockingly good brakes
Well, I chose this brake kit because of the overall value and so far, I'm impressed. The rotors have a pretty good set of features that ensure great performance. The pads seem like typical ceramics, but they are well crafted. I only use ceramic brakes on my vehicles, so the fact that they're included saved me from having to purchase upgraded pads separately. The installation went great. All parts fit perfectly. After bleeding brake lines and doing a test drive and wear in, I immediately noticed the increased stopping power and performance.I did have an issue with the delivery though. The kit came without the brake hardware in the box. I made a call to customer support, since the description says they were supposed to be included, and they shipped them right away. The guy I spoke with was friendly, helpful and understanding, so no complaints here. Other than having to wait another few days. I purchased 2 weeks before I planned on doing the install, so I was ok with waiting the few days. Its been a couple weeks now and the brakes are still performing well. I've been driving very aggressively and they continue to impress. I definitely give R1 Concepts my seal of approval. Great product, great price, great service.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great upgrade.
I was skeptical about ordering brake kits for cars because of bad experiences from previous cars that I work on. The brake kits didn’t have the right shims and sometimes the brake pads are a little bit bigger than the original one.I gambled getting this brake kits because it looks good from the picture and the price is reasonable comparing to buying it at an auto parts store and they don’t sell cross drilled rotors and I came across of this R1 concept. I received the parts and to my surprise, all the necessary hardware are just the same as the OEM. They fit perfectly. I highly recommend them because before they ship it, they send you an email to confirm what type of vehicle in order for them to send you the right fitment for your vehicle.I’ve been driving it for a few days now and the stopping is way better than the original brakes. It has a better stopping power. And it doesn’t heat up my rotor because of the cross drilled. I’ll buy this type for my friends cars.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good fitment
They aren't brembos but they get the job done for the price point fits my 2013 Subaru wrx sedan just fine, thou they are a bit noisy with the included pads until warmed up.
5.0 out of 5 stars Best brakes I’ve had
The brakes look great, and they perform great, they don’t rust like the regular rotors
5.0 out of 5 stars S2000 rotors
Perfect fit easy install, work as intended.
5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive but… Jeep Grand Cherokee
Update: at current price increased level I couldn’t recommend this product anymore.I’ve been Road Racing & Autocrossing for decades and definitely drive hard off the track as well. I needed a set of brakes for my kids 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee so I took a chance on this product & brand as I had never heard of them. Bottom Line: I am very impressed and definitely recommend their product based upon initial break-in & the first few weeks of use. They stop extremely well without any fade even after repeated hard stops. The stopping power has definitely increased dramatically with this setup!I’ve run slotted & drilled rotors for decades on my street & track cars/trucks with no ill effects, so ignore the on-line desk jockeys & you will be rewarded with the best stopping you have ever had on a set of brakes. Some thoughts on installation:Along with this set of ceramic brake pads & rotors I replaced the front calipers (NAPA at $30 each). Be sure to spray everything down with some BrakeKleen before disassembly & also on the new rotors. Keep the rotor to pad surface clean of any grease & grime during this whole repair & rubber gloves are always helpful. Use Sil-glide (NAPA product) on the caliper pins / boots, this product is the best hands down & won’t damage or swell the rubber seals. Use CRC brake & caliper grease at all metal to metal contact points between the pads, calipers & caliper brackets. (See picture as an example). Use a wire wheel on your drill to clean up the hub which the new rotor back rests against, then use a touch of anti seize on the hub face but use it very sparingly as a little goes a very long way. Also wire wheel the back of the wheel itself which comes in contact with the rotor face when wheel & tire are installed. Doing these things will ensure a straight wheel & tire without any wobble or vibration when done.I replaced all brake hoses sourced from Bolo as well:Brake hoses: (stock suspension height)Rear Center: Dorman H380189 Brake Hose.Rear Right: Dorman H380225 Brake Hose.Rear Left: Dorman H380226 Brake Hose.Front Right: Dorman H38894 Brake Hose.Front Left: Dorman H38895 Brake Hose.TORQUE CHART:Lug Nuts: 90 - 100 ft lbsBrake Booster Mounting Nuts . . . . . . 29 ft-lbsMaster Cylinder Mounting Nuts . .. . . 18 ft-lbsPrimary Brake Line . . . . . 16 N·m (144 in. lbs.)Secondary Brake Line . . . 16 N·m (144 in. lbs.)Front Caliper Slide Pins . . . 21-30 ft-lbsAnchor Bolts . . . . . . . . 66-85 ft. lbsBrake Hose Banjo Bolt . . . . . . 23 ft-lbsBleed Screw . . . . . 16 N·m (144 in. lbs.)Rear Caliper Slide Pins . .. . .21-30 ft-lbsAnchor Bolts . . . . . . . . ...66-85 ft-lbsBrake Hose Banjo Bolt . . . . . . 23 ft-lbsBleed Screw . . . . . 16 N·m (144 in. lbs.)Hope this helps & in a few months I will post a product update, if Bolo’s system will let me because they haven’t lately!
