Bought this to try to make Kimchi for the first time. Was not disappointed! Will buy again. I made cucumber kimchi and cabbage kimchi and still have enough to make more. When using know your heat tolerance before using!!!

I needed gochugaru to make Korean tofu soup. This brand was recommended by my favorite blogger, Maangchi. When I opened the bag, I was worried about the spice level because the pepper was BRIGHT red but in the stew, it had a really nice heat level that I could easily adjust. For those who care about the source, although they're marketed as "Korean Bidan Red Chili" they are a product of China. The packet I bought in February 2024 had a "production date" of March 2023 and a "best before" date of Sept 2024. .

This bag is huge and way more than I could ever need. I used this for a Spicy Korean Cucumber Salad called Oi Muchim. I really only needed a few tablespoons for the potluck size I was making but it came in this really big bag for the same price as a small bottle in a store. Definitely worth the value and everyone must have loved the taste because the salad was devoured and I didn't even get one bite! This product is an excellent bargain!

I love korean food so much and especially the gochujang and gochugaru. I use them both for a lot of non korean foods as well. This powder was fresh. Its not straight up hot…. The flavor is complex with a heat that creeps in slowly but never burns your mouth. It is super versatile in the kitchen giving any meal an added layer of flavor. This brand seems to be a great quality of gochugaru
