The Deterra Drug Deactivation System is an independently tested, safe and environmentally sound solution to permanently deactivating, destroying and disposing of unneeded pills, patches, liquids, creams and films right at home. Deterra’s process is powered by proprietary MAT12 Molecular Adsorption Technology which deactivates medications using activated carbon – rendering them inert, unavailable for misuse, non-retrievable for all practical purposes and safe for the environment. The carbon used is organic, chemical free and completely safe for at-home use and disposal in normal trash. Adding warm tap water into Detarra’s pouch initiates the carbon – based process that permanently deactivates and destroys opioids and other drugs in any form (pills, patches, liquids, creams and films). The empty pill bottles can then be recycled. Since launching in 2011, millions of Deterra Pouches have been used across all fifty states and internationally to deactivate, destroy and dispose of nearly 300 million drugs. The deactivation process starts quickly and you can throw in the trash after you seal the pouch and the deactivation process will continue.
