5.0 out of 5 stars Product is slightly different color but seems to have a lower melting point
This is my third purchase of Shea moisture raw shea butter. This product that I received today is a little different than the first two in that it isn't white-ish, it is a light yellowish green. I searched online and found out that it's perfectly normal for raw shea butter to have that greenish tinge. It just depends on where the shea butter is from and how it was handled after it was gathered. I think that the scent is just a bit stronger then before, but it is the same scent. On me,the scent dissipates very quickly after I've applied it to my skin so it doesn't really bother me that it has just a tad bit of an earthy smell to begin with. I sampled a little bit of the product I received today and I was happy to see that this shea butter melts very easily as soon as I put it in my hands, more so than the previous two orders that I received. My usual procedure for using the shea butter is to whip the raw shea butter together with some macadamia oil, using a hand mixer. It results in a light whipped texture that spreads easily on my skin and absorbs well it in a few minutes. Maybe halfway through my use of the jar, I might need to whip the remaining shea butter-macadamia oil mixture again because it reverts back a bit to its original firm state. When I've used up my current supply of the shea butter and I get to this latest jar that I received, I'm going try spreading the raw shea butter on my skin without whipping or adding the oil. I think it might spread easily and absorb into my skin quickly right out of the jar.
5.0 out of 5 stars Natural & Actually Moisturizes
I love that this product is clean & yet still moisturized my skin better than anything else I’ve tried. The texture can be weird to adjust to at first but now that I’m used to it I’ll never go back.
1.0 out of 5 stars Waste Of Money
Smells absolutely WRETCHED.Like a lump of hard dough; you have to rub it vigorously between your hands to melt it down, and even then the instant you try spreading it on your skin, it feels like it turns to wax that yanks your skin and even body hair.Leaves skin greasy and gross. The label on the jar isn't even the one in the picture, it feels like I've been scammed.Spend your money elsewhere.
5.0 out of 5 stars Moisturizing for sure!!!
I am currently obsessed with this product. I have always had normal to dry skin. I used it once after exfoliating and shaving my legs and have been using it ever since. It comes out thick, but after rubbing it in for a while it thins out. My skin retains moisture for sooo long. Super smooth. Someone close to me has very dry hands, with skin that sometimes cracks, so I purchased some for her and will update on results. Only downside is the smell, but since it’s raw shea butter, that’s expected, so I would still give 5 ⭐️s. I usually spray a fragrance over it to combat the smell.
4.0 out of 5 stars Prevented Stretch Marks During 50+lb Pregnancy
A friend of mine had a baby without any consequential stretch marks using this product and a lavender oil (discontinued). So when it was my turn, I used the same 2 products. Unlike her, I gained more than 50 pounds during my pregnancy. Like her, I did not have any stretch marks. I recommended this to another girl and the same situation happened. Stretch marks have a genetic and age component, so for background I already had stretch marks in my saddle bags and all the females in my family have them, including preggo ones. Stupidly, I did not apply this to my chest and I earned several new stretch marks here during pregnancy.Con: Very thick texture, feels goopy and tacky while on.This provides a ton of moisture and is a great price for what you get and how much.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not easy to rub in and stays greasy
Lets dive right in to what I learned about raw shea butter and trying to apply it.I imagine that if you have scale like dry skin or maybe for really rough feet that this stuff would work absolutely amazing! Part of why I wanted to try this was to get rid of typical lotions that are loaded with chemicals and a bunch of crap that isn't great for your body once absorbed. This lotion nails that as it doesn't get anymore clean and simple than raw shea butter. Is this practical for everyday use, quickly apply, and head out the door? To those question I was only able to answer a simple....nope!Currently in SoCal during January which is not ridiculously cold. The inside of my house ranges from 58-65 degrees. You can see in the pictures how curdled the lotion is when I received it. To the benefit of the instructions (seems crazy to read for lotion) I applied a little and did my best to break down the curds and rub onto or into my skin. Super uncomfortable and took way too much effort to rub in. 2nd attempt was to melt the lotion in the microwave for 20 seconds.....still hard, did another 20.....it finally started to soften up and break down. Stirred the lotion in the bowl to where it finally was soft and became something you could apply.Yes, the product mentions a very little bit goes a very long way. However you are left feeling greasy and it never seems to absorb into my skin. I literally ended up having to wipe it off because even after 30min it was still shiny and greasy feeling. I mean dang it.....I need to get my shirt on and get out the door, I can't be waiting all day for this stuff to absorb into my skin.Hope this helps you make a decision as my guess would be that it doesn't matter which company when it comes to being in raw form. Raw is raw and you need to determine what your needs are.
5.0 out of 5 stars SheaMoisture Body Lotion
Love, love this product! I saw in previous reviews complaints about this product being gritty. Yes it can be if in a cooler location. I solved that by letting it sit out on the patio on a warm, sunny day. Once melted & brought back inside to an air conditioned location it was very smooth. I also rub it together vigorously between my hands before applying. It leaves my skin so soft & smooth & lasts for hours.
5.0 out of 5 stars I like the real deal
I like the fact that it is hardened then softens when I rub my hands together. I can smooth on my skin or hair.It is pure not a watered down product
Waste
Garbage...i didn't get a chance to use it because when I received it, the product was already dry like in solid form.I tried to thaw this but no use.I just wasted money and time waited so long for nothing.Straight out to the garbage!
Great product for dry skin.
Will be buying again and again.
