5.0 out of 5 stars I want to love it (Update: they made it loveable.)

    S. · February 8, 2023

Update 2: I bought this keyboard again on Cyber Monday because the price was hard to pass up. I am happy to report that my chief complaint has in fact been been fixed. Their description of it sounded more like a bandaid than a fix, but the actual result is exactly what I was looking for. This whole process has ultimately made me more of a fan of Redragon. Great pricing, good products, willing to address customer concerns. I am in. I will continue to make updates if things change and will leave previous comments as well for clarity.Update: I received an email from Reddragon stating they have made a firmware update that resolves my chief complaint. However, I had already returned the keyboard by the time I received it so I have no way to personally confirm. This does, at the very least, negate my "no intent" statement.I want to love this keyboard so much, but one major flaw leaves me at just liking it: missed keystrokes. This keyboard goes into sleep mode in about a minute without use; when you attempt to begin using it again it will miss the first two or so inputs. I've tried it in 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth and there is no difference still a ridiculously short sleep window. I downloaded the software hoping there might be a setting there, there is not. Searches on the internet show that it is a common complaint and it looks like there is no intent on changing it.This hurts even worse because everything else about this keyboard I absolutely love. The build quality is top notch. The aluminum body has a solid feel. They keys themselves feel a little more plastic than I would like, but just barely. It comes with plenty of extra switches of different types so that you can customize the feel for your WASD keys or whatever configuration you prefer. The switches also fit snugly into their spaces leaving little room for gunk and debris to find its way into the innards of the keyboard. The kickstands are solid and firm for those of us that like a little bit of an angle.Battery life is phenomenal, I don't think even with a longer sleep period I would be concerning myself too often with having to plug in the keyboard too often.I have become a HUGE fan of Redragon products over the last year, in fact I bought this to replace the wired version of this keyboard to help reduce clutter on my desk. Unfortunately I can't give this keyboard high praise when the most important function of a keyboard is input and this fails so often in that regard.I hope with all my heart Redragon releases a version of this keyboard that is reliable in a keyboard's most basic function; until then I'll be going back to my wired 556.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to type on

I bought it for work. I like the feel and the sound. Isn’t too loud for my cubicle, but still makes some noise. It feels solid and has a good weight. You can use it wired or wireless. I think it has Bluetooth, but I haven’t tried it in that mode. It looks very nice and even though it lights up it’s not too flashy for the office. I get lots of compliments on it. I’m very happy with my new keyboard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this keyboard, but…

Before this I had the Red Dragon S107, which was a great keyboard for the price. But I decided to upgrade to this keyboard, The K556. And I love it! With the brown key switches, the feedback is amazing. I find myself just randomly typing things unnecessarily just to use the keyboard because it’s so satisfying to type. Though I care much more about how a keyboard feels rather than how it sounds, this one sounds great! Very nice soft clack sound. It’s built extremely well, Full metal casing, and nice, semi glossy keys that feel very nice. The lighting is good, not great. I would have to admit that although this keyboard has cooler rgb effects (reactive keys, different modes, etc) the consistency of the lighting leaves more to be desired, as there are bright spots and dim spots in certain areas of the keyboard. I’ll even go as far as to say my previous, cheaper Red Dragon keyboard had better backlighting in my opinion. One little pet peeve i also have is that keys feel nice, but need to be cleaned up better during the manufacturing process, on the bottom of each key you can see mold marks that (should have been) clipped off at the factory. And it annoys me to see that, especially for a keyboard of this price, AND being compared to another keyboard from the same company thats at least 2 times cheaper than this one, and the cheaper one didn’t have those issues. Another strange quirk is that the color white is a very warm white, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to configure it to be a cooler, more blue white. (Yes, i downloaded the software and despite trying everything, i cannot get it to display a cooler color temperature white. So due to that i opted for a nice, teal backlight color instead, which I like. I like this keyboard very much. Just wish it had better lighting. I do like that they included extra switches and a keycap/switch puller.

    Love this keyboard

I love this keyboard, the material.and the hot keys switches are great. I removed the red silent switches and switch with epomaker sea salt silent mechanical keyboard switches. They are extremely quiet and silent than the red dragon red switches. What I love about this keyboard , is compatible with 5 pin switches. Overall I am happy with this keyboard. It doesn't lose the tactile part of the keyboard when I change my switches. My advice, be very careful with the pin when inserting to the keyboard.

    Buena calidad

    Great Keyboard for the Price

    W. · March 1, 2023

I recently purchased this keyboard after looking around for about 4 months. What sold me was the positive reviews, regarding the quality, brightness, colour feature, and sound/feel. After a few days, I have to agree. The keyboard has some weight to it, which is fantastic as someone who CONSTANTLY nidges their keyboard by accident. No more accidentally moving by keyboard, going to type, and my alignment is wrong. Additionally, the keyboard has grips on the bottom, which really helps it feel sturdy when I have to type quickly. The legs are solid and offer a great angle for typing. The keys are a nice thick plastic, and feels like it would last a long time. The brightness is great, because I like to have my light active day and night. It allows me to brighten and dim the backlight very easily. The light itself is very bright at the highest setting, but not so bright that I'm blinded. This was an issue I had when picking a new keyboard. None of them seem to have a nice middle ground; they were always bright as the sun or "dying flashlight" dim.The colour feature is one of my favorite features. I knew I wanted an RBG keyboard, but I found many were limited to the colour you could choose for a solid light. Also, A LOT of other keyboards made you pick a light pattern, and this keyboard actually lets you have just normal light lol. Other reviews have also said the custom colour/pattern doesn't stay when you unplug your keyboard or turn your computer off. I have not had this issue at all, but I read the manual lol. If you download the software for it (like the manual suggests) you can set 3 light profiles for the keyboard. Once you set a profile to use and customize it the way you want, all the customizations stay. I know because I customized my keyboard at home, on my personal laptop, unplugged it, then plugged it into my work computer, and settings didn't change. Another thing, THE COLOUR SELECTION IS AMAZING. You can choose from a custom colour scale to get the exact shade you want, it's awesome.Lastly, the sound and feel are perfect for me. I like the sound of an old mechanical keyboard, that's been used a lot lol. I find that sound very pleasing when I type because it gives me that light clicky noise, without being too much. But I hate it because keys are always loose and didn't provide enough tension when I typed. OH BOY, was I glad to find a red switch keyboard! It offers me that more muted mechanical sound, and plenty of tension that it feels proper, but not so much tension that I have to press super hard to activate the key. It's also not so obnoxious, that it'll drive my coworkers insane. There is also enough space between the keys that I don't mistype as often, but not so far I can't type properly. I have very small hand (like really small lol) and this is a constant struggle for me, but not here (woohoo!).Lastly, this review is based purely on my personal preference and use. I use this keyboard for typing only and do not play PC games with it. So, I can't really comment on that side. However, I do a lot of typing at work and at home; so this fits my needs very much. If you have similar preferences as me, I highly recommend!

My first mechanical keyboard in decades.

Such a solid quality feeling piece of tech. Quite heavy. All steel body. IP67 rated. Swappable keys (although limited to oetemu switches). I'm telling myself this could be a lifetime keyboard, especially because I'm already old, but we'll see.My use is about 80% work, 20% gaming. So why a gaming keyboard? I wanted to try a mechanical keyboard, and the RGB lighting is just cool, worth a bit more money to liven up my work station. I had a huge internal debate over switch types, and one of the reasons I chose this particular keyboard was that it had the brown switches that I decided upon as the happy medium between clicky typing keys (blue) and linear gaming keys (red). Not many of the lower priced mech keyboard listings had the choice of switches, or didn't have brown as one of the choices. I can actually use the spare switches included to test this (nice inclusion by the way), but I won't bother. I feel comfortable with the browns, made the right choice. If you're coming from a membrane style keyboard, not an old fashioned typewriter trained typist, and never tried a mechanical keyboard before, whoo boy, get ready for an adjustment period. I was hoping that this style of keyboard would help eliminate some of my constant repetitive typos with my old Azio keyboard. Not so, at least not yet. Initially, I found mechanical to be less forgiving. It's kinda hard to explain. Hitting these keys, that are isolated from each other with only empty space between, and have a deeper stroke or travel compared to membrane style, just feels like you have to be more accurate. And I'm not 100% on how the anti ghosting feature works. But I think I'm quickly getting used to it.I've seen a few reviews complain about the software, but I had zero problems locating and installing it from the Redragon website. It is a bit strange that I can only get the program to run if I right click and run as administrator, but maybe I did something wrong in install. Not really a big deal. The software is a bit janky to use, until you get it figured out.The RGB lighting is fantastic. Too bad it doesn't have perimeter lighting and that the dragon logo isn't lit, but that's nitpicking.I might miss my dedicated media keys for a while, but I'll get used to using the Fn keys pretty quickly. The font on the keycaps is a bit small and weird. It's kind of modern techy looking, appropriate for a gaming keyboard, but not practical if you are a poorly trained typist with aging eyes like me.

    Güzel his ve ses
