5.0 out of 5 stars Nice lightweight iron
After putting up with an iron that only worked on one setting for about three years I decided it was time to get a new one. I chose the Black & Decker because I trust that name and because it has all the features that I wanted in an iron. I don’t do a lot of heavy ironing, just mostly touchup on clothes that come out of the dryer and still have some wrinkles. This iron is steam and dry, and also has a spray feature. It is very lightweight and as you can tell by the picture it is a small iron, but large enough to do what I need.A guide comes with it telling what settings are best for what ironing jobs. There is also a guide on the face of the iron right under the handle (circled in green on the first picture).I would recommend this iron unless you iron a lot of really heavy items. But for most people who just need to touch up clothing, it is the perfect little iron.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product! Watch the automatic shut off....
Purchased several of these for ironing centers in the retreat center. Tested them first and they worked amazingly well! Heated quickly, steam was ready after heating. Used the iron for a variety of tests to see if it would not hold up to various fabrics. It tested well on everything. With the shut off, it did shut the iron off from heading, however while it remained plugged in, the red light flashed. I left it plugged in for over an hour - the iron was cold, but the red light was still flashing on all of them. So, remember to unplug your iron!
4.0 out of 5 stars Want a groaning iron that gobbles water?
This iron replaces two 60 year old “made in USA” irons that still heat but not enough to iron cotton. My new Black and Decker today ironed 4 cotton blouses. I filled the water well twice. The iron groans and belches and when stood upright disgorges a blast of steam. It heated at 6 enough to iron four cotton blend blouses. I suspect it is defective but maybe it is just expressing delight at getting out of the box and is not the usual Chinese or not Japanese Asian quality we have had forced upon us. ( Had the made in the USA two irons been made to Asian standards they would not have lived with me 60 years but died in toddler stage.)The Black and Decker iron was less expensive than the majority of irons on offer and so I got what I paid for. Interested to see if it settles down and how long it performs its duty of heating to iron clothes. On a positive note, it is not a ton of bricks and moves across fabric easily. I wanted and got a light weight iron.
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and works
My old iron quit on me unexpectedly, and I went for the old trusted Black+Decker. Works like a charm. Very light, which I also appreciate, and smaller than the average iron - great for smaller hands. Steam function is awesome. Great value for money, too, because it's hard to find an iron these days for under $20 (at the time of purchase). Great product, highly recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Effective iron/steamer on the smaller side
I’m a fan of this smaller iron that packs a punch in heat and steam quality. It’s big enough to be your everyday home iron but also compact enough to be your travel iron. It holds enough water to iron a few items with the steam option. 5 stars!
5.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite chore
This is easy to use and inexpensive and be smart and do not use tap water , use distilled for your best clothes . The settings are easy to read . The last one I should need to buy in 10 years .
3.0 out of 5 stars It’s a decent starter iron, but there are still some issues.
I bought this Black & Decker to replace my 11-year Hamilton Beach starter iron that finally failed on me recently. I don’t really need an expensive or fancy iron, so this inexpensive one appealed to me the most.Off the bat, I wasn’t impressed by the water reservoir. It’s just a hole at the front of the iron. There’s no cover like I’ve seen in other models, and while the max water level is set to keep it from overflowing, I’ve found water still seeping out from the front hole as I used it.The non-leaking feature was one of the points I bought into, but I confirmed that this still leaks water from who knows where beneath the plate. I ended up just emptying the reservoir because I was getting tired of the water getting onto my shirts. The heat rises pretty fast with each level of the knob, so I’m ready to iron relatively quick without having to wait for it to warm up like my old one.Not a fan of the cord management. My old one had a compartment where it could be hidden - this one does not. I guess it comes with the expectation behind the price. It’s not perfect but it’s manageable.All-in-all, I’m happy with it with the price I’ve paid, but definitely unhappy with the leaking problem.
5.0 out of 5 stars Like Moms but better
I don’t know what a fancy iron is like but this one performs like my mother’s old 200lb iron that’s 100 years old.Only lighter and newer. :)I don’t think it has the tendency to burn holes in your clothes if you try to press for longer than 3 seconds either. With that being said. Those old irons were something, weren’t they?
