The saddle that fit him best was just a " little" wide but otherwise was perfect. I rode in that saddle for a year and he did ok but at times was balky and irritable. I knew it was because of the width and while we had good wither clearance and sweat pattern I was bothered by his discomfort even if it was only occasional.I had seen this pad but because of the price I was afraid to buy it and have it make no difference! Well I saved up and purchased the pad and with the first ride I had a different horse.It had the saddle sitting level and no more popping up in the back. No more balking and he moved forward immediately & willingly when I ask. I wish I had bought it a year ago!Well made and I love how the area where the cinch lies is cut out so not only do you know where to position it, it is not bulky and no slipping at all. Great pad.

This saddle pad changed everything for my horse and my self, my saddle sits so much better, be walks free, I don't feel like the saddle is pinching him anymore, great pad. It cleans out very nice and seems to be very durable.

I do not usually leave reviews and I am not sure this will even be a complete review of the OrthoRide but this has made such a difference, I honestly had just wanted to tell people. I have been riding since I was a little girl and now that I am, well never mind, I think I have tried doing just about every event you can think of with a horse. I have gone through periods of buying the latest and greatest tack for each horse etc. Now a-days I know what works and I stick with it pretty much. But if I learned anything it is that each horse is built different and I use different tools for the job. But saddles are just flipin expensive and honestly I want to be comfortable myself when I ride so there are really only two saddles that I have been using 90% of the time. They fit better on some horses then they do on others. WELL my favorite horse paid the price, I noticed that she was getting white hair spots at her withers. If you don’t know that is caused by poor fitting saddles digging into the horses’ shoulders with the saddle bars. This is a flashing red light that your saddle doesn’t fit and hasn’t for a while.I started saddle shopping and planned on writing a good check with several 0’s to get a comfy saddle that wasn’t going to take a year to break-in like the one I love now. I had read something in a magazine about the OrthoRide saddle pad and that it was for poor fitting saddles. So I found it for less here on Bolo and tried it, as I knew I could return it if it didn’t work.So I guess this is finally the review part. You know it seems to do exactly what it says. It fills in the gap under the saddle bars and raises the saddle up level. There is this bump of padding right where the saddle bars were making contact on my girl. She seems to be more comfortable, no she didn’t tell me but I can tell be the way she carries me that she is lighter in her movement.Update: I have had many rides with this pad and it has definitely made a difference. The pad looks like new still and is easy to clean. My girlfriend bought one and uses it all the time also. I would try this before changing saddles. Unless money is no object.

Bought this pad for a client’s horse with high withers and a poor top line. The padding is in all the right places and it fits great! I love the cool logo on the side of the pad as well. Great, quality pad at a reasonable price!

I bought this saddle pad for my 11-year-old granddaughter this Christmas and she is so happy to have it. She hasn’t been able to try it on her horse yet. It’s sharp looking and seems warm, comfy, and durable.

I purchased this pad to help an ill fitting saddle fit better on a newly purchased horse. Sadly, I only had the horse for a month and my only horse now doesn't need the built-up shoulder pads for her saddle. I am keeping the saddle pad just in case another horse down the road could use it as it's very lovely, well-made, true-to-size, and does the job as desired as long as the saddle is already a close fit and just a little wide -- like a 7" gullet saddle for a small quarter horse needing a 6.5." It will not help an 8" gullet draft saddle fit an Arabian horse needing a 6" or 6.5" gullet, though. It does come with care instructions which I found quite helpful as well.

Needed a pad for a high withered spotted saddle horse that was getting rubbed. Pad has saddle sitting flat on his back with good clearance at the withers.
