5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth, Shiny Finish
I was looking for a brush that would help add volume to hair and the Minalo Boar Bristles Hair Brush with wood handle did exactly that. It is great quality. It moves through my hair quite easily and has not problem untangling knots while producing a smooth, shiny finish.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Brush for Thick Hair and/or Beards
If you have thick hair, this is a great brush to pick up. Cleaning isn't the easiest, but it's still worth it. It also works surprisingly well for beard-grooming, if your hair tends to curl out of the shower.
4.0 out of 5 stars Give it Time
I bought this brush to help in the grand process of straightening my hair before I decided to go short. I've ended up using it pretty regularly to style my hair in the morning. It does give my hair a subtle shine that I love, but it took some time to get used to. At first, I was getting my hair stuck in it constantly and disappointed when it still took forever to straighten my waves. The reality was that my hair was super long and I sucked at using the brush and hair dryer at the same time. Since, I've gone shorter I haven't had any problems at all. I still haven't mastered creating rounded bangs, but it's a learning process.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for short hair
This is a great brush. I have pin-straight hair. Colored. Chin length. Thing hair, but lots of it - so with a little mousse I get a lot of lift. This brush is great after I've applied a dab of volumizer and am blow drying to get fullness with a little curl under at the bottom. I don't have a sensitive scalp so I can't say if it would bother some people, but for me the pulling out to dry and lift my hair works great. It gives me just the kind of results I want. I love the wood handle, but it's a little slippery if I don't squeeze tight.
5.0 out of 5 stars I really like the different types of bristles on it
UPDATE:So I absolutely love this brush. It has gotten to the point where I don't use anything else. These spread the natural oils of your hair throughout the length of it so your hair looks and feels healthier. It goes through knots so well that I pretty much cut my brushing time in half. I will use this brush for a long time and purchase the same one for the replacement whenever anything breaks on this one, which I expect won't be for a long time.Original:I got this brush after losing my flat headed one. I really like the different types of bristles on it, and it does help spread the natural oils on your scalp to the rest of the hair. I have really long, thick hair and this brush does wonders.
1.0 out of 5 stars It also has a horrible chemical smell to it that stays on my hair ...
Half the boar bristles already fell out when I opened the package, and more continued to fall out when I removed it from its packaging. There are also weird little brown specks of paint from the handle, or just straight up dirt, that keep falling out every time I touch it or try to use it. It also has a horrible chemical smell to it that stays on my hair for a bit after I tried using it. Will be returning ASAP.
3.0 out of 5 stars Bristles fall out
Not impressed with this brush. My sister has a boar bristle brush from Spornette and that was my first time using a brush like that. I liked that after using it my hair wasn't fizzy, especially considering we live in the south, and that it made styling my hair easier. I decided to go with Minalo's brush over Spornette since it had better reviews on Bolo but I'm disappointed with my choice. With every use boar bristles fall out of this brush. We're talking about 5 bristles every morning when I do my hair. They land on the sink, my shirt, or the floor. Mind you, I have straight, short hair which is very manageable. Not sure if that's normal but after reading the stellar reviews I wasn't expecting my brush to fall apart (okay, that's a bit dramatic). Also, it's my error for not reading the description but I was looking for a brush with just boar bristles but this one has nylon strands. I know they have a "no-hassle" return policy but it's annoying doing returns so I'm keeping the brush. I do love the handle; they got that part right. I still use the brush since it's there but I'm not in love with it nor would I recommend it to others. When I feel like spending money on a hair brush again I'll choose a different brand.
5.0 out of 5 stars the disgusting buildup of ewwwww lint that is impossible to clean ...
I was a bit nervous when ordering this brush, it is made from boar hair, not for a faint of heart! But being fed up with plastic hair brush, the tangling, the disgusting buildup of ewwwww lint that is impossible to clean out, I decided to give this a try. After all our hair is made up with the same keratin material as animal hair! So far I am very happy with the result. Mainly because of the fact that I can wash the brush with shampoo in the shower every now and then to prevent the build up and keeping it clean. Also it is so soft and doesn't fizz up my hair like the plastic brush. Very happy!
