5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding tuna!
I made some tuna fish sandwiches and it is by far the best and freshest tasting tuna I’ve ever had. My husband loved it so much he gave half of his sandwich to a good buddy at work and he too said it was delicious. I found this brand at my local health food store and was so happy to see it also sold on Bolo. I’m stocking up my pantry and didn’t want to hoard ever can from health food store. Also for my friends wanting to be prepared it came with a real good expiration date 2027 (I’m in 2024 now). But here’s what’s really sets this brand apart and over the top, I didn’t know this until I started reading about the company. They test every single tuna on the spot for mercury before it gets the green light to be canned, their website said one out of every four fish on average are turned away because it doesn’t meet their standards. My recipe: tuna fish, plenty of dukes mayo, a little squirt of mustard, chopped up dill pickles, fresh dill (minced), finely chopped onion (either chives or red onion), salt and pepper. One can made 4 good/full sandwiches for us. I highly recommend you buy it while they still have it available.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great flavor
Each can contains a chunk of meat rather then tuna scraps suspended in water. Ferrous cans, not aluminum. Great flavor, a quality product. Will buy again.
5.0 out of 5 stars It's tuna, healthy tuna.
I saw Safe Catch on an episode of Shark Tank years ago.As I remember their story, the mother of one of the founders got mercury poisoning from tuna. They then worked to develop equipment that could test a tuna for mercury, thinking it would revolutionize food safety in the seafood industry. Nobody was interested, so they started their own company. And I'm glad they did, because this makes the rest of the industry look terrible by comparison! This product line is not the absolute tastiest tuna. It's fairly pink, and often in a few large chunks with some additional pieces. Somewhere around a middle-range - not foul, but not gourmet. Canned tuna is rarely eaten on its own anyway, so this isn't a problem. Even so, it's still not bad at all - I have had cans from major name brand before which were both awful AND didn't have the mercury certification. If you care about your health without wanting to compromise on food variety, this is the pick. Tuna is quite good for you.Mercury-tested, no-nonsense, packed in water, in a steel can. No toxic aluminum. All canned foods have an epoxy liner, but you can't avoid everything bad without fantastic amounts of money and time. Minimization is the key!
4.0 out of 5 stars Taste was different
The quality was good but the taste is a little different (stronger) than the light chunk tuna that I normally eat. I found it $2 less per can at a local supermarket, so will probably not order again.
5.0 out of 5 stars Chunky
I don’t care for tuna fish that is all broken up and is runny looking! That’s why I like this solid chunk of tuna! Better texture, better tasting! I recommend this product!
5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious and healthy
Not only is it delicious, but it also feels fresh and 'healthy' - we really do feel good after eating it. I have to say, reading reviews and learning more about the brand put me at ease. So far, this is the only brand of canned tuna I trust here.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great price, don’t throw out the juice it’s omega 3
My family loves this tuna.Good taste, Very Low in mercury, Line caught so there not catching Dolphins, or other fish to throw in the trash. This is skip jack tuna and no oil which I like, as most is a Low quality olive oil. I’ll put my healthier olive oil if I want it.This is steamed in can with out water, the juice in this can is Omega 3 and do Not throw it out, just pour the whole amount into your bowl and Enjoy.Great price from Bolo compare to buying in my grocery store. At the grocery store I was paying $4.78 a can!!!!What was I thinking! Now Not anymore. The expiration is 8-25. Bought this in Jan-23.I paid on Bolo $33 & change, free shipping. Not any dented cans. Came in a heavy duty box.I just find the pull tab is hard to open for me!!5 stars.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tuna!
I love the "lowest mercury" status. We don't drain it. We use the liquid along with the tuna in whatever we're making.
