5.0 out of 5 stars Love this Knitting machine
I purchased a lesser cost machine and it kept dropping stitches and jamming. I decided to purchase this machine and have been very happy with it. Works great even with yarn the other one wouldn't handle. I purchased this to make hats and scarves for snowmen I make. It is a perfect size and just what I needed to make them quickly and at a low cost. The machine is made well and is easy to use. I did watch a few videos on how to use it, plus my experience with the other one helped. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to make hats quickly with little to no effort. Some day I hope to purchase the larger unit for making hats for people.
5.0 out of 5 stars FUN, RELAXING & CREATIVE!
I purchased the smaller Addi knitting machine first about 2 months ago to practice and play and to see if the larger one would be used, if purchased. WOW! I made my first stocking cap in about two hours. As with the little version, you have to keep an eye on your work because stitches drop easily if the 'work' creeps up the needles. Just follow the instructions, it is simple but you have to get the hang of it before it works smoothly. I enjoy being able to "knit". Having arthritis, regular needles are just too painful to use after as little as 10 minutes. This is so rewarding if you have issues that prevent the traditional ways....I had to suck it up and accept the fact that sometimes you have to rely on newer technology to continue to do the crafts you love to do. I recommend this product to any one especially those that have difficulty with finger, hand and wrist issues. The crank actually provides some physical therapy action for shoulders too, (MY OPINIONS only...). I enjoy my King Size Addi knitting machine in conjunction with my smaller one, I am ready to create in a whole different way, and I can work on a project for a much longer time.
5.0 out of 5 stars excellent good quality
love it good quality worth the money, works amazingly.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good introduction to machine knitting
The addi-express knitting machine is a good introduction to using a knitting machine. It is fairly easy to use, with illustrated instructions and pattern book included as well as links to video tutorials. It is well-engineered, the components are sturdy plastic. The circular knitting function produces tubes that can be used for socks, fingerless mitts, toys; the flat or plain knitting function produces fabric that is about 6 wide. I'm pleased that I purchased this.
1.0 out of 5 stars So far, not worth the price
I thought this would be a good way for me to get back into knitting with my increasingly arthritic hands. Initial test results were abysmal, many dropped stitches and huge gaps in the resulting weave; stitches that didn't drop were of inconsistent quality. I will try again with a slightly thicker yarn. Additionally, the mechanism, itself, is sometimes smooth, sometimes herky-jerky, and sometimes I actually have to almost force the crank to turn, leading me to fear that I will break a needle. The needles themselves are not as sturdy as I would think they should be for any sort of endurance. All in all, not worth the price, and seriously considering returning it. Single positive note is the book of knitting styles and instructions, which show some possibilities - but still, not enough reason to hang onto it if I can't get it to produce a decent piece of fabric.UPDATE: 2/1/23 - Second try, used 4ply yarn, circular knitting. Going slow, got to row 24 and the leftmost black needle's hook suddenly snapped off and flew across the room. That's it; I'm done. For $159, and made in Germany, I expected far better quality. Returning for full refund. I'll look to see if there is an affordable option with metal needles; plastic sure doesn't cut it.
5.0 out of 5 stars The Addi is great!!!!!
This is a wonderful piece of machinery. I was surprised it shipped from Germany. I ordered on Sunday and received it on Wednesday here in the US. This machine has weight to it and is sturdy. It is a pleasure to work with. I will definitely get the big Addi, too. There is a huge difference between the cheaper brands and this knitting machine. I am very happy.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure I agree with "Easy to use"
While I'm perfectly willing to believe this knitting machine is an improvement over its earlier version, I still have some reservations about it. The machine itself is made almost entirely of plastic and feels cheap and potentially fragile while I'm holding it. The crank, which is also plastic, feels like it could snap in my hand if I encounter any resistance. And I found that it only seems to work well with certain kinds of yarn - particularly, if we put any fuzzy wool in it and don't get the strands completely 100% under the loading hooks, the machine binds up very easily, and getting it un-stuck is really not very much fun.The knit tube that this machine produces has a set diameter, and unfortunately for us, it's too big around for us to really do much with. The uses for this machine seem pretty limited, making it more of a novelty and a toy than a useful knitting device. My wife much prefers to stick with hand knitting. On the plus side, when you do get it working, it works very smoothly and can churn out said tube in just a few minutes.
4.0 out of 5 stars Nice and easy to use but handle is a problem after a few week
Its easy to use I love it but now the handle is loose and it don't turn right. Use it off and on for two week but the handle the problem would like to return.
