Had the SMEG mixer for over 5 years no problems and as we love to cook use it most days. We've been through a lot of food processors over the years( good but their not built to last) and discovered this attachment for our mixer. First impressions they look more heavy duty and no thin plastic bits, so should be more durable.One last observation, we have the SMEG sitting out on the work top and to attach the slicer onto the mixer, do the job required and then wash the parts and put it away takes less than 10 minutes. (Only 3 parts to wash!) It is a big time saver as apposed to using a conventional food processor.Expensive yes, worth every penny YES!!
