(Review date Mar 2021) I bought this item in June of 2020 to power my elliptical which required 4 D size batteries and whether or not I used the machine, it drained the batteries. Although I bought it 8 months ago, I just now got around it finishing the project. This 6-Volt, 5-Amp DC Power supply came with an adapter that you can connect wires to. I checked the DC voltage and under no load it was just over 6 volts. The AC ripple was just a few millivolts - so score 2 good points! My machine had four D-size batteries in it's holder, arranged in 2 pairs of 2 each. So, I fabricated two pieces out of wood to fit in the battery holder instead of the 4 6 volt batteries and put a copper plate on one end of each piece (one piece would fit in the holder in place of 2 D batteries.) Then on the end of one piece, I drilled a small hole in the copper and put a pan head stainless steel sheet metal screw with a couple small washers under the head of it into the hole to represent the positive end of the battery. Then I soldered a wire to each copper plate and connected that wire to the enclosed adapter. It works great. The adapter made it so much easier to connect the power supply.The power supply has a light to indicate that it is getting power which I like and it runs my elliptical just fine. I no longer have to buy expensive D batteries and replace them frequently. This power supply is just what I needed and I definitely would buy it again - presupposing that it holds up, and I have no reason to believe that will be a problem. I like this solution to the problem of replacing expensive D-size batteries.

Really good solution to my annoying problem. I have a gas fireplace insert with a remote control for on/off and thermostat. All worked well except that the remote receiver was powered by a 4 AA battery pack that would run low and the batteries would leak. Finally I bit the bullet: either replace the whole remote and receiver for over $250, our try something like this. It worked great from the start, aside from a soldering issue on my part. I had to extend the original power wires- more on that in a minute. After all is said and done I won't have to worry about batteries it the reliability going forward. I'm very pleased but that. The unit puts out constant 6.6V DC and I'm sure I could have used the 1A version, but for a dollar more I went with this.I give this 5 stars for the above reasons, plus one awesome extra that you won't get everywhere. The included female adapter is a killer addition that will allow you to hook up just about anything that needs this supply. This is what allowed me to fairly easily add a bit of wire to make the length work.... Leading to my only very minor complaint, which is the short length if the cord. I knew this going in so it's not a real negative. However, I think if this were available in a couple of different lengths like 2 and 4 ft. or 3 and 5/6, it might have much more appeal. But I still think it's a great product.

I was going through 4 C- batteries every 2-3 weeks in my toddlers dream machine. I wired the barrel adapter to some extra wire I had around the house and I clipped the wire to the positive and negative terminals on the battery. I haven't needed batteries since (but i could use them again in case i need to take the dream machine on the road). One thing I noticed is that the music box is louder than it was when it ran off of batteries- a 500mAh instead of a 1Ah version might better duplicate battery output for 4 C batteries.

I have an older Nordic Track exercise bike that ate through D batteries like nobody's business. After wiring in this supply, the Nordic Track works perfectly. I was worried about current drain when the machine was adjusting tension (resistance), but this supply is definitely up to the task. It's a great value for the bucks.

Bought this mainly to upgrade my automatic trash can so I can do away with the battery operated. I'm just tired of having to replace batteries every 2 3 weeks.
