5.0 out of 5 stars Nice value, fun to paint with
I have really enjoyed this little palette. You don't see pastel watercolors too often. That's because it usually takes white to achieve those colors. It's completely possible to do on your own. But this is so convienient.I own a range of watercolors from cheap sets I got from michaels to Daniel Smith. I can't compare these to high end brands. That wouldn't be fair. I consider this set to be a crafters set, not artist quality (despite what prima markets). One major clue is that pigments aren't listed on the packaging. Every artist brand does that.Regardless, the paints are on the opaque side but that's to be expected with a pastel watercolor. The pan surface can look chunky (I've never experienced this with high quality paint) but I've never had it transfer those chunky bits onto my paper. They rewet pretty well and I've even done some decent color mixing with them. It's a fun set. While it's not my go to set, I do break them out occasionally. I love the colors for creating a quick, soft floral card. The colors in the other sets don't interest me but these were a great addition to my collection.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice quality and good pigment.
Nice quality, highly recommended. The colors are vibrant; despite being pastels, they have very good pigment. I really enjoy the colors; they are very lovely. In my honest opinion, I would have preferred another color instead of having two pinks (lemonade and rose). In other comments, I read that you might feel these are chalky on paper, but here's the thing: the unique property of watercolor is its transparency. To create pastel colors, you need to add white gouache, so you might find these watercolors (and any other pastel watercolors) somewhat opaque. However, the same half pan is very sticky. P.S. I bought this in October 2020.

I don't have one box of paints from your company that I have not adored. Great pigmentation!
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the price
There are some great colors in this pallete. I particulary like the browns, lilac and salmon. They have good layering and I've made a quick demo for transparency on the picture. They also have good pigmentation. They look dried and cracked on the pallete, you will want to moist them a bit to activate before painting, otherwise it has an unevrn distribution on the brush and therefore on the paper. This is a good thing if you are not too experienced in painting. The pallete itself is very good, beautiful construction and size. It is worth the money for the pallete and some of the colors. If you are starting on watercolors, these are really nice and give you A LOT of control on both dry and wet paper. I recommend use these as starters. If you own a high end watercolor pallete (I own 3 pro-watercolor palletes), there are at least 6 colors here that you will find useful and unique.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet colors
Overall I'm pretty happy with these watercolors, the colors are great, they mix pretty nicely and lay down with a little more opacity than some other watercolors I've tried, and I especially like the pink/peach, yellows and light blue color. That being said I still struggle to make any colors I like with the browns provided, and at times the colors can feel a little grainy, which some people like, but I am not a big fan of. The little carrying tin was a bonus for me because I'd never had an open concept one like that before where I could tetris in 20 half pans. That being said, I feel like the pricing is a little on the high side when you take into account the fact that some of the sets have one or two colors from a different set repeated. It's fine if you just really like that color, otherwise its kind of a waste to have multiples of something that's not going to get used, so I strongly urge you compare the different palettes to find which will give YOU the most value. I have considered buying other palettes, and may still in the future, but for the time being I'm good with just the pastel set.
4.0 out of 5 stars Most pastel colors nice, but they consider brown pastel?
This is my first puchase of Prima's Watercolors. I love most of the pastel colors in this set, but for the life of me i can't figure out why they put two brown colors in it. Brown is a pastel color? Really? It is nice for a travel case, as it has a metal ring on the outside that can be used to attach or carry. It does have the pre-printed swatch card that all one needs to do is transfer some color to it, so that's a nice touch. There are a few mixing pans. No brush came with it, so be aware of that if you're expecting a brush. The color pans are very small, I believe someone in another review said they were 1/2 the size of a normal one. As I'm new to watercolors, this may or may not be an issue for me. I also ordered their Tropical set, and again there were a couple of colors in it that didn't really strike me as being tropical, or at least the name didn't really match the color (ie., coconut). I purchased a set of Mozart watercolors, and if you're looking for a broader set of very nice colors, I'd suggest you look into Mozart, unless of course you specifically want pastel colors. Mozart colors are very nice, vibrant colors and come in a nice carrying case, although not as small as this one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good price, good results.
The picture above is painted with this palette and pearlescent ink and can be found on Etsy. This is a pastel pallette, but the colors do get quite vibrant. I love the array of colors; it has good balance, but I wish they had one less blue and one more (lime) green. I've been able to mix grays as well. I would say that it's easy to use even if you don't have preexisting knowledge on how to mix colors, but they have all the colors of the rainbow, so making the color you need shouldn't bee too difficult. But again, if you're worried about shadows, this is a pastel palette and won't make black. It is a bit pricey, but I love prima marketing watercolors. Its the main watercolor of choice (tropical palette) without being too expensive like the Derwent or faber Castell watercolors. They're perfect for traveling because of how small they are, but they are incredibly pigmented.
Taxa
