5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent saddle at a great price from a pioneer in saddle design
I've owned a number of Sella Italia saddles over the years, dating back to my first Flite purchased in the early 1990s, when it was the "must have" saddle for all serious cyclists. I've moved away from the minimalist saddles of my racing days, and now look for saddles that will be comfortable for long rides, no matter what bike I'm riding that day. I purchased this saddle for my distance bike, a super comfortable 1993 carbon Specialized Epic SE frame that I built up for century rides and other long rides. If you're going to be in the saddle for 4+ hours, you want to be as comfortable as possible. This saddle fits the bill perfectly. It's so comfortable that I can ride it around in regular hiking shorts without a pad, and not be uncomfortable. With padded cycling shorts, it's even better. The seat is well padded, but also small enough that I don't get chafing inside the leg area, like I have on some wider "comfort" saddles. This feels like I'm riding a slender racing saddle, but with much more comfort. I like the fact that it's a bit more slippery than some other saddles, as I like to be able to shift around all the time as I ride without having to take my weight off the saddle to do it. On a 1-10 scale for comfort, I give it a strong 9, and using the same scale, a clear 10 for overall design, comfort and style. I've been very happy with every Sella Italia saddle I've ever purchased, and this one is no different.I’d also like to note something that’s very important. Seat fitting is pretty subjective, and there’s no single “right” position for any saddle. A saddle that may cause numbness and discomfort might feel great if you adjust the saddle a few millimeters. I’ve been fortunate to have a few professional racing friends who showed me the importance of this fact. As a rule of thumb, never have the front and back of your saddle at the same level, because if you do, no matter what saddle you use, you’re bound to get some numbness. Even on a older bike like mine with relaxed geometry, I have about 5 mm of drop from the back to the front (see photo). On modern geometry, which is racing oriented and you’re positioned even lower on the front of the bike, a few more millimeters might be needed. Don’t just stick your saddle on the bike and be done with it. Try a lot of different positions, particularly with forward tilt. I’ve taken what felt like very uncomfortable saddles and made them very comfortable simply by repositioning the saddle with a bit more forward tilt. But in the end, there's no one-size-fits-all, and this saddle is no different. What feels fantastic to me might cause another discomfort, and the truth is that when it comes to a comfortable saddle, you just have to play around to find what's most comfortable for you. Price-wise, I couldn't be happier, as this is priced below most of their saddles. Sella Italia saddles are made in Italy. These aren't cheaper saddles made in some factory that is knocking out tons of cheap saddles for the biking industry. You can't go wrong if you're looking for high quality, solid construction, and great Italian design.
5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable seat
I have purchased this seat for my 250miles bikepacking trip. And boy, it payed off. Its a great, comfortable and lasting seat. I bet there are better ones, but you cant beat this quality and price!
4.0 out of 5 stars More comfortable than my $160 Specialized Seat
I replaced my $160 Specialized seat (the Power series) with this $35 seat because it is more comfortable and the aero effect is about the same.To give you more background, I am a non-professional road bike rider who rides about 10-20 miles a day. I want a seat that gives me comfort and speed (i.e., aero, light weight). I don't wear padded pants. This seat has a medium thickness gel pad. Its cushion softness is better than the race bike seats (which feels like setting on a paper thin pillow on top of a wood chair), but not as soft as the seats found in the fitness bikes.Overall, I really like this seat after using it for everyday in the last 14 months. I've found a very good value because the performance (the effect of the aero and weight) is about the same as my $160 race bike seat (I measure it based on the average speed of multiple rides). However, this seat offers more comfort and it definitely brings me more joy.Don't forget to visit the Selle Italia's website to get your ID Match number. This one is ID Match S2.Keep in mind that this seat works the best if you don't wear padded pants. Otherwise it will be too soft and you won't feel comfortable. If you wear padded pants, go with a more professional, stiff (less padded) seat.
5.0 out of 5 stars Super comfortable for daily commutes
I bought a road bike for commuting (~10 miles round trip per day) and wanted a seat that had more cushioning since I wouldn't be wearing padded shorts/pants. The saddle (Terry) that was on the bike was more expensive than these, but the foam was not soft or supportive at all. These saddles have a great shape and are amply cushioned for long rides with zero pain or discomfort. I've done 20+ miles on these and had no discomfort or soreness. The only thing I would do differently next time is to buy the superflow version of this saddle because that would be even more comfortable especially for riding on the drops. If you ride a road bike but don't wear padded pants, this is the perfect saddle for you.
5.0 out of 5 stars A great value on a comfy saddle
Whoa, comfy! I bought this saddle for an old MTB I'm converting for casual street use. The Selle Italia web site has sizing recommendations that help select a saddle based on width of your ischial tuberoscities (e.g., sit bones.) I followed the advise when selecting this saddle and absolutely LOVE it. It's much more comfortable than the fancy Bontrager saddle on my road bike - so much so that I might switch them or maybe buy another one of these for the other bike.
3.0 out of 5 stars Selle men's saddle
Nice looking saddle, soft, low profile, kind of heavy, good price. It did not work for me due to setting area, it feels too small and not much space to move the seat back and forth. I was looking for a saddle that I can ride log distance (over 65 Miles). I could not ride more that 20 miles, it was uncomfortable after 20 miles. I have 100cm seat bone and I have tried saddles with short or long nose, 138-152CM width. I do not think width made much difference in the ride. Moving the saddle back and forth to find soft sweet spot is the issue. You have to seat way back on this saddle if seat distance works for you.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice touring/fitness saddle
Selle Italia is a very good name, and this saddle, though one of their less expensive, is well crafted and light weight. For the first 150 miles I didn’t feel much comfort in the “Gel Flow” system. Now it is breaking in and is noticeably better at cushioning. I think it is going to work for me.
1.0 out of 5 stars Comfort for one may not be for another.
Was really hoping to like this saddle. It was ok for short rides but anything over 49 miles became uncomfortable. The worst part is the saddle made my coccyx (tailbone) sore. The seat was set up correctly. Also the nose of the seat is crooked. Seat didn't worked for me, doesn't mean it won't for you. However mine of coming off the trainer bike today.
COMODO
Me gusto mucho, yo lo ocupo en bici de ruta y bastante bien en trayectos urbanos.
Nice saddle!!
The saddle is very close to my old Selle Italia Shiver model. It is nice to ride on even when not wearing padded shorts. Have only used it on my indoor trainer so far, but even after some long 1.5 to 2 hour rides it still feels pretty good!
Confortable
J'avais des problèmes de selle , avec celle ci tout est rentré dans l'ordre
Great seat good value!
This is a perfect commute saddle , long lasting and comfortable
Semplicemente splendida e ben fatta
Ottima per ciclisti da city bike e oltre, per far chilometri, non molto morbida, e necessita di un po’ di abitudine”callo” se ci si fa più di 30 /60 min.su
