5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome nerf gun.
Awesome nerf gun. Very happy I was able to buy one. Is extremely hard finding it in Europe. Works great, they don’t make them like this anymore.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nerf
Awesome toy for kids tonuse
5.0 out of 5 stars Jammed dart in my favor.
I bought this as an Bolo warehouse deal. First thing it was missing the barrel extention. I don't care because they impede performance. So I threw batteries in it and a full mag. It wouldn't fire or even rev at all. I opened the jamb door and an existing darts was all twisted in there. I pulled it out and she worked like a champion. I've put hundreds of darts (accufakes) through it since and no jambs. Definitely worth 13 bucks.
4.0 out of 5 stars It's a stryfe! Great but with some slight inconviences.
What can I say- it's a stryfe! Always been one of the best nerf blasters of all time. However, there are some things that were issues that were present. For one, the thermistor issue was still present in my unit. When trying to unload around 12-18 rounds, the blaster slowed down and stopped, requiring me to wait a while before I could fire it again. The listing I bought from sold it as used, and it was clear it had been returned, so this could just be an old unit. Also, the included magazine did not work, not allowing it to rev the blaster (I tried it with others and it worked great). This is something that could happen to other units, as the reason it didn't work is because the tolerances on both the magazine and the switch inside the blaster weren't tight enough and as a result the magazine did not push the switch inside the blaster allowing it to rev.Overall, though, both issues can be fixed by someone with moderate knowledge of electronics and mechanics or with a simple google search.
5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible blaster that is getting much harder to find
I bought my first blue Nerf Stryfe back when I was a teenager and I absolutely loved in. I have very fond memories of wiring in a 9 volt rc car battery, taping it to the side of the blaster, trading some nerf equipment to a local neighbor kid for his 35 round drum magazine, and going to town with neighborhood nerf wars. My blaster always scared them, because it hurt like heck when it hit them!I recently got back on a bit of a nerf kick and wanted to relive the awesome Stryfe again, however, they are much harder to find now. A seller on here is (at the time of posting) selling an orange model for $59.99! Way above the MSRP of this blaster. New blue ones are near impossible to find, so I had to go with this Modulus version. I literally just received the blaster today, to see that Bolo JUST labeled this blaster as "Currently Unavailable", which is very sad. Hopefully this is temporary, but I have a bad feeling it isn't.Interestingly, a lot of these reviews are complaining how Nerf didn't continue the green striping on both sides of the blasters however, mine does for some reason? I mean, I'll take it. I am not complaining!I love this blaster. It is easily my favorite Nerf item I have ever purchased, and it truly disappoints me that Nerf is leaving the Elite series behind, creating "Elite 2.0" which isn't even that great, and focusing on Fortnite blasters. I miss the Nerf I had as a kid. This Stryfe brings me back to that time period.
1.0 out of 5 stars Averages 72 FPS, but this legend returns with a new flaw too; may be okay after removing the new hyper-sensitive Thermistor.
This is a re-skin of a crowd favorite blaster using the Modulus line’s white/green color scheme to resemble the rest of the Modulus line. I have a ProChrono Digital chronograph with which I measured the velocity of the darts in FPS (feet per second) that this "flywheeler" spit out. At the peak of it's rev it produced a consistent average of 72 FPS out of the 6 fresh darts in the magazine. One notable difference from the previous Stryfe is the jump from a 65 to a 72 FPS average. Another more apparent difference is the colors of the shells (the Orange one, and further back, the Blue one). But the best difference is in the handling. For whatever reason, the trigger-pull feels smoother (maybe a lighter return spring?). This new iteration of the Stryfe comes with another more irritating difference that can affect operation: a sensitive electronic lock called *the thermistor (aka the thermal resistor, which is the yellow piece of electronic circuitry on a tiny circuit board near the battery tray that looks like a yellow M&M) which cuts off the power to the motors at a certain temperature/voltage if stronger batteries are installed. The result is the thermistor choking-up and jamming the blaster (even on regular batteries if it is fired in quick succession for three 18-dart magazines). This is the most sensitive thermistor than any that Nerf has released to date, but it is not a problem for the mod community because it is very easy to remove the thermistor. With a soldering iron in hand, de-solder the wires from the thermistor and connect it directly to the battery tray terminal (and yes, this is safe; I have been doing this for years). What you should be concerned about is the Modulus Stryfe’s stock motors. The previous Stryfe was endowed with tough motors that could handle **decent voltage mods. We will have to see if these new Stryfe motors are just as durable as the original. Anyway, the Stryfe is known to be a stable, compact, and flexible “machine-pistol” type blaster to carry around. It even has two sling-mount attachment points: 1 above the front barrel, and 1 at the base of the pistol grip. Obviously, it has a place to attach the barrel it comes with which is compatible with [most] other Nerf barrel attachments. It has a shoulder-stock attachment point in the rear, and it has two tactical rails: 1 under-barrel rail for the [oversized] Modulus front grip and 1 rear top-mount area (for a scope or sight). As far as ergonomics goes, I find the pistol grip to be comfortable and not alienating to most people with larger hands. In conclusion, this re-release of a Nerf Legend is more for the modding community than for the gift-hunters looking for a fun toy at a low price (keep in mind that the previous Stryfe was once sold as low as $12 each, so maybe wait for a comparable sale price). It does come with a mini barrel attachment from the Ion Fire and front grip from the Modulus ECS-10 (that in my opinion, make it look downright awkward), but it can fit most other Nerf attachment parts because customization is what the Stryfe does best. This is probably why it chosen to be reborn in the Modulus line. Check out the aftermarket kits made specifically for the Stryfe by the Chinese manufacturer “Worker” (and their 3D-Print specialist, F10555). Many of these kits can become pricy, but they look noticeably awesome. Oh, and yes it shoots any color of standard Elite dart (blue, green, white, orange, purple/grey, Star Wars themed, Accustrike, and decorated Rebelle darts). For those of you gifting this, it is intended to use four 1.5V AA alkaline batteries, which by the way do not come with the blaster. Ultimately, I feel it is the enthusiast’s decision if this re-release price is worth it. My personal opinion is no. Not well-over $20. I just purchased this one to make this review and I hope this helps others make an informed decision.*Please note that Hasbro may have or have not fixed the sensitivity of the thermistor by the time you are reading this post, but my Stryfe’s thermistor has triggered on regular batteries. If Hasbro does not want their customers to modify their product, why release it flawed so no one can use it normally? To be clear, with regular 1.5 AA batteries installed, I emptied three 18-dart mags and in quick succession, the thermistor cut-off and caused jamming to occur. I have researched other sources and have found similar reports of this issue online. It is this issue combined with the inflated price tag which are the primary reasons for my 1-Star rating. And Hasbro, if you are reading this, stop putting premium price tags on re-skinned legends and “nerfing” them (pun intended). That’s not cool to us paying customers, and we deserve better.**I purchased two eFest button-top AA 3.7V 14500 Li-Mn (IMR batteries) off of eBay and two dummy AA sized place-holder batteries to increase the FPS and DPS (darts per second). Obviously, you will need to have removed the thermistor to run this setup. You will also need to get a good battery charger too. A Nitecore D4 battery charger works great for me. I have clocked this set-up with average dart velocities in the 90 FPS range on my older model Stryfes (the same ones purchased years ago are still using the same stock motors). So far so good, but I will return to update this review if I discover any more issues with the modded performance of this blaster.
Great basic Nerf blaster
The perfect baseline Nerf blaster for kids and adults. Well packaged.
Great nerf gun
It’s a great nerf gun, smaller than other flywheel blasters with great performance and customisation since it is a modulus blasters. It works fine I didn’t get any problems other reviews have.
One of the best Hasbro has made
The Nerf Stryfe is by far one of the best blasters Nerf has ever put out. It comes with decent performance out of the box, and is among one of the best blasters in the Nerf community for its versatility and ease of modifying it to perform better. The number of attachment points on this blaster also allows buyers to build their blaster to suit the needs or role they would like to play during Nerf wars.It works well, but does suffer from jamming occasionally. The power output in stock form is up to elite par. Overall, it’s a really good battery powered blaster for those coming into the Nerf scene.
