Used this to replace a broken cd/dvd drive in my desktop computer. Installed it myself. Fit was perfect and the drive has been working well after about 30 days of light use. Have not yet burned any discs with this drive, but drive has done the job for both listening and uploading data and music from discs. Price was good enough to prompt me to replace the old drive rather than use an external drive. Recommended.

I recently decided to import all my classical music that I have on CD into iTunes. I made it most of the way through that agonizingly slow process before I realized I was using an inferior Disc drive. it's something so basic it never occurred to me. I replaced it with this one and it easily imports a CD at 24x to iTunes and that's with error-checking which should slow the process. (Previous was 4x).I know Optiarc and Sony are no longer affiliated but just handling this item I felt Sony quality...and for a VERY reasonable price!
