It's taken absolutely everything I've thrown at and in it. It's been a great platform for the various mods I've done, everything from extra MOLLE pouches and carriers to an internal platform to move my hydration bladder a little higher, and been incredibly durable in daily, and I mean *daily* 4-8 mile hikes, travel, and everything in between. The stuff I complained about below seems silly now. It's been incredibly tough and accommodated a lot of wear. Buy this pack and wear it in good health - it will take you and your stuff anywhere you need to go.UPDATE AFTER ABOUT ONE YEAR: So I've lived with this pack for a little over a year now. I really wear this thing - I hiked over 3200 miles in 2018 as part of maintaining a 325 lb weight loss. I'm still pretty happy with the one I bought then despite an issue with the chest strap. The attachment to the shoulder strap has come loose and will need to be resewn at a luggage shop. That said, I bought another one to have as a spare while I get the first one repaired, and they've made some changes to the design that I don't like. One, the interior strap and buckle to secure a hydration pack has been replaced with a single velcro tie. This was already a weak point, and I think when I get the old one repaired I will have something sewn in that works better. Two, the waist strap that was already too thin is now even thinner - it was 1.5 in. webbing, now it's 1 in. Overall, it seems like the workmanship and materials are poorer too - there's thread hanging off one of the shoulder straps and some of the seams are not flat, the interior pocket for the hydration pack is just a thin layer of fabric instead of the insulated material of the old one, the shoulder straps now don't come with the little slack-keeper dealies.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Somewhere there is a thief wearing a very nice backpack. Ordered on a Friday, delivered the following Monday, and stolen from my building before I could get to it. It's Wednesday now, the replacement arrived earlier today, and I walked from West Hollywood to Burbank (12 miles) with it and am very happy. It's a big backpack - swallowed up my 3L Platypus Big Zip in a neoprene sleeve and a lot of clothing and gear with room to spare. The main pockets are very roomy and well laid out, the hydration bag pocket was so well insulated I still had ice water 8 hours later, and the side pockets are very easy to access with the pack on. A lot of nice touches and hard thinking in the design - everything from side pocket zipper direction to drinking tube channels is perfect. I feel like this would be a good pack at 2-3 times the price - at $35 it's a bargain. I'm 5'8" and it is just a little big on the shoulders for me - I might have a strap put on it just above the handle to put some tension on the shoulder straps and pull them together a little bit. Stitching and fabric all looks and feels high quality. Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best backpack for the value

B.B. · July 19, 2024

I try to find the best purchases for the value, so that was what motivated this purchase. This bag sold me. I will always buy Mardingtop.Much better versatility than other backpacks like this, but less versatile than straight up tactical bags. This is a great marriage between regular backpacks and tactical. As durable as a tactical. The straps are comfortable, and it fits well on your back. Looks less like a tactical bag, so it works great for a gray man setup.

4.0 out of 5 stars and my overall happiness of the backpack

E. · April 5, 2017

I just received my pack. My 4 star rating is based on the size of the backpack, the construction of the backpack, and my overall happiness of the backpack. I will update my rating once the durability is tested.I am a daily commuter on a motorcycle. For me, storage and durability are key components. I do not want an extremely large and cumbersome pack. This back pack is large enough for my 15" laptop, a change of shoes or clothes, some miscellaneous items, and rain gear without being obnoxiously large.Motorcycle specific packs are ridiculously priced and this Mardingtop looks as well built as any I've seen. There is plenty of pocket options for different storage configurations of gear whether you want quick access or only occasional access. There is not a helmet storage compartment, but there's several options for attaching your helmet to the outside of the pack. With a waist and chest strap, it will be as secure as ant pack I've had that MC specific. The stitching looks very well done and the quick connect buckles are not think and cheap, but solid and click in place firmly.I will update in time on the durability. All in all I am very happy with this $40 purchase that arrived in 2 days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well constructed pack for a sub $50 price tag.

I spent a lot of time trying to find a backpack in the 30l to 40l range as a get-home bag that wasn't going to break the bank. My pervious pack was okay, but the straps and buckles were sub-par and it was smaller, but I liked the pocket setup. There were a lot of options out there but I kept coming back to this pack and one other. The molle capability is what became the deciding factor for me with this one, but after receiving this backpack I think the other one would have been hard pressed to be as good, even if the molle webbing wasn't a factor. The shoulder straps are wide enough and reasonably padded. The chest, waist and compression straps are not overly thick but the buckle designs and length of them are great. A bed roll or small tent could be secured nicely at the bottom, sleeping bag, tarp, etc could be well secured on the front of the pack against the molle webs by the compression straps there. While there is no internal frame the pack sits well, the weight distributes between the shoulders and the hips nicely. The zippers appear to be decent and the use of paracord instead of metal tabs is (to me at least) a plus.I like the design of the access for the tube for a water bladder (not included) which can be run from the compartment nearest your back through from the inside to the an outlet on either shoukder strap. The only part I wish was a little different is that inside one of the main compartments is a net pocket with a zipper - the pocket is wide and fairly deep and I personally would have preferred a divided pocket (three compartments taking up the same space without the zipper) but this is a minor detail and totally just a matter of taste. There is a small pocket at the bottom of the pack, presumably for a rain cover but it doesn't come with one.Overall this pack appears to be well stitched and designed, and a good value for the money (I paid $47). I really liked the design of the compression straps - on the face of the pack there is the additional material to "hug" what you are holding in place and so it doesn't rely solely on thin straps or bungee cord like so many packs in this price range.

Excelente.

Just great a great value backpack

A.Y. · November 19, 2024

Really comfortable back pack. Material is tough. Its compact and tidy and the compartments are great. The rain cover is great too. If it had a few small pockets on the shoulder straps and hip supports for my travel munchies it would make a great bag better Given the price its a great buy. Hiked 4 days in NZ with this and no problems at all.

Genial
