5.0 out of 5 stars It’s what they advertise.
It’s exactly what they advertise, a rodent sized live trap made of metal. It works like most similar live traps, is quality construction and well assembled, simple to open and set, easy to clean with soapy water, and easy to lift and carry out the caught critter with the latch mechanism that acts as handle once trap is sprung. Sensitivity of the trap is good, size is good for mouse to average Norway rat you’d find in rural areas. If you’re not catching rodents, is more likely user error than an issue with the trap. Rodents are smarter than given credit for, and will avoid a trap for a variety of reason, none of which have to do with the trap itself. Good price and value.
5.0 out of 5 stars Home Saver
Very easy to use. Durable enough to withhold the chipmunk that got in my home. Great deal for what you get. Worked great and had this little friend caught in less than 20 minutes.
5.0 out of 5 stars It works.
This humane trap is inexpensive and effective. Mine arrived a few days ago and I have so far trapped two mice in our kitchen. It's easy to use, and as a bonus, I got two for what I thought was the price of one.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works well for smaller animals...
Well made, simple to setup, good for mice, voles, chipmunks, etc. Does not really work for larger animals like rabbits or squirrels. the wire gauge is soft and likely to bend with a stronger animal caught.
5.0 out of 5 stars CHEAPER can be BETTER ! Updated to 2nd purchase...
HURRY UP AND BUY ! For the price it's a great deal. I researched for HOURS X MANY late nights to find the best possible deal. I found one that was about 10.00 more because I liked the reviews and then I found this one that was much cheaper. I figured it would b a cheap back up and I was curious considering the price difference if it would hold up to the more pricier one.The difference: The more expensive one was bit bigger and cage seemed a bit sturdier. The trigger mechanism was almost too touchy and would deploy b4 I could finish bating it. Because u have to put the bait at the far end of cage away from the door (where the trigger plate is) u practically have to hold ur breathe while slowly, steadily reaching in the cage to bait it and then back out without touching any part of the cage. Gets REALLY frustrating after the 3rd try. Then as ur pulling ur arm out of the cage, Slow n steady u have to use ur other hand to hold the 2 trigger arms on the outside and other side of cage together until you're arm is completely out of cage. Like a game of operation. Those arms are really sensitive too. I had to file those 2 arms down to adjust the sensitivity. It WILL deploy with a TINY tap and the landscaper even set it off with a leaf blower from about a 20ft away.**Now back to THIS item. The cage is a bit more light weight gauge BUT with any cage/trap u HAVE to check it every day otherwise any rodent will chew right thru them (escape or defeat) and that's where most ppl screw up and them blame it on the manufacturing. This has a better trap mechanism which is much easier to set and once deployed it seemed to reinforce the door keeping the door closed and locked down. I didn't need the patience to set this trap compared to the more expensive one. I would definitely recommend that u buy this one as its about 1/2 the price or 2fer 1 deal, right? The set up is better, easier and cheaper. It definitely does the job and that's all u really need. Save some money and hit the buy now button. I already did the research for you. Ther longer you wait... well u know. The more you have to set traps over and over again.Updated 1.10.19-This trap is totally worth it. Like I said earlier... U MUST check them periodically. I set in the evening and check in the morning. So far every time I have the put it out I have a cute but "property destroyer" sitting in the cage bright and early n the am its like clockwork. This is the BEST one by far, out of 4 different traps that I purchased. I really like that they are "LIVE CATCH" so that I do not need to worry about harming the cute critter (squirrels) but that I can release it FAR FAR AWAY.The ONLY ISSUE is that they use a thin gauge wire for the caging, making it easier to chew thru. I can't say it enough...check the cage frequently.Besides that small guage a critter FINALLY was able to chew a hole through it. HOWEVER... i am buying another today hence my updated review. Changing review to 5* .My average with this cage n the last 6 months 10/10 and counting. All catch & release. Very pleased considering 1 acre and full of wildlife. Can't bare the thought of putting them out but sending them on a vacation far far away, I can do that easily... now just need a better means of transporting them.
3.0 out of 5 stars Effective-ish, good design but requires rebuild each time due to thin quality materials
The design, size, and efficacy of this trap is on point and I have found it easy to set and reasonably effective (it all depends on the bait really). But one thing that detracts considerably from the utility of this trap is that it almost requires rebuilding each time it is used because the metals of the wire mesh cage and the internal trip wire are so soft: angry squirrels in survival mode tear this thing apart and if you don't get to it soon enough they've gnawed holes in the mesh and bent the trip wire and platform into dysfunction. So this requires that after dispatching the squirrel and cleaning, one has to re-bend and realign the trip mechanism parts, bend the cage back into shape, and sometimes even patch a bigger hole in the mesh. I'd happily pay a few dollars more for a cage constructed with stronger metals so this isn't a de-facto single use cage.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works Very Well
It functions as advertised. Use a proper bait, it will catch your pests. The smaller screen prevents escape. I have another brand that works equally well except small rodents are able ro get theough the larger screen. This is a live catch trap. I take them out to the desert and release. Coyote, Fox, Mountain Lion, Badger, Snake, Eagle, Hawk, and more feed on small rodents. This year has been especially heavy for rodents.Great live catch trap.
5.0 out of 5 stars Work as expected
I have caught an released several rats (or the same rat) with these traps. They work great. They are easy to set up and easy to release. I would also suggest some animal handling gloves for dealing with the occupied traps. Just an FYI, the rats have not been tempted by peanut butter. I have had success with honey covered food scraps like a bit of scrambled egg or a bit of banana bread.
Sorprendente
Fue realmente sorprendente ver cómo en 3 horas ya había capturado al roedor. Solo seguí la recomendación de otro comprador de amarrar cacahuates al fondo de la jaula, y si, en tres horas cumplió su función
20min and the mouse was trapped!
My first ever review of a product on Bolo but I’m still shocked how well this worked. We put it and 20min later the mouse was caught!!!
Safe, for the animal and your peace of mind
I Love the fact that the small animal can be trapped safely and relocated. The conventional rat and mice traps are absolutely barbaric - the poor little critters just wanna live!
Perfect Purchase
worth purchasing it
Effective!
Good human trap for it's price. Place a heavy object on cage ( in a way that does not stop it operating) as our first Asian house mouse managed to get out after the trap being triggered. The dog may have had some role in that but I am uncertain.
