I have this and everything one wants to take mine home with them so when I seen these online I decided to purchase for my family members. Just a little disappointed in size of them though. Wish they were bigger. Reading is fundamental

I bought this as a visual timer for my 5 year old. We use it mostly at meal time. It is an effective visual aid, although it’s hard keeping him and the 2 year old from wanting to play with it!

Works great for our purpose -- now keeping to the schedule with kids for certain tasks is actually enjoyable! I don't need an exact timer (everyone has phones or watches for that!) so having it go for 18 seconds over 15 mins is no big deal. Nice cheery yellow sand which sometimes needs a gentle tap for stray grains sticking to sides. Glass seems thin so I'm very wary of breakage -- but I keep away from curious hands and make sure it's on a placemat when being used (making sure not to move mat of course!). Ends are flat enough but since hourglass is narrow, there's always a topple risk. Size is also just right for our purpose - great price too! Got a smaller one for 10 mins too.
