Some blankets are soft and cozy, and right at home living permanently on a bed… But not this one. This is a the kind of blanket you’ll want to keep rolled up in your trunk for when you didn’t expect it to be so cold at the beach and you want to wrap yourself up with your kids. It’s a little itchy and has a kind of smell to it (I actually kind of like it, but my kids jokingly call it “dad’s stinky blanket”). It is very large, very warm, and if I need to lay it out on some grass or dirt for an impromptu picnic it’s not some delicate little frilly blanket that I’m worried about getting dirty. I’d been wanting to get some kind of pendelton wool blanket for a while but I didn’t want to spend a billion dollars and I worried one of those might be too flimsy or delicate for what I wanted to do. I’m really glad I tried this one— I didn’t know blankets could be so rugged, warm, and at the same time inexpensive. I’m probably going to get a few more, just to keep around.

I'm really pleased with these. They arrived quickly and are very heavy with a stitched edge. I'm using these for guests at a winter wedding. Yes, they have a smell, they will need to be aired out. These will be great to keep warm and have people take home as favors with the wedding logo embroidered. For this price I didn't expect something that was the quality to be on a bed or couch which they aren't. They are a heavy yet not stiff wool, great for outdoors. I would highly recommend.

It is warm but they do have a smell to them. It’s doesn’t smell like chemical and it’s not over powering but it lets you know it’s there. Just got to wash it a few times or let it air outside (not in the rain…)

This feels like a "pressed wool product" in person- weird plastic like smell and texture. It sure as heck is no where in the league of any of my Pendleton wool. It's like a .. C minus? But guess what?! It's perfect to have in the car for emergencies or for camping!

I am no stranger to military wool blankets. I've slept, washed and cared for them my entire life, my father was in the Army and retired, my husband was in the Army and retired. This blanket? What a nightmare, I have NEVER encountered anything like this ever. Yes, wool blankets do have a smell to them. But this? It smells like a tire, even after washing it twice. It had pieces of very old grass in it which I found all over my washer. . .did the clean the wool before they used it to make the blanket? Small chunks of blanket also came off in the washer. My washer stunk of tire so I bought a washer cleaner, ran it through, with a secondary rinse cycle. In spite of that, it left the grey color of the blanket in my machine that stained the load after it and made that load of wash smell like a tire. Fortunately, I was cautious and washed a load of rags and old rugs. I had to rewash that load because it stunk of tire and in hopes that the grey color would be lessened. That load doesn't smell like a tire anymore but is still stained grey. I don't know who is writing these positive reviews because it isn't warranted, not by a long shot. If you like the smell of tires and want all your laundry to smell that way, go ahead. If you love the grey color and want your next load to be dyed grey as a bonus, go ahead. These things have been sitting out to dry outside, just to see if there has been any improvement in the tire smell. Nope. These things are going out to the trash, I would not even donate them in hopes that someone would be able to benefit from them but they are absolutely the worst thing I have ever purchased on-line ever. Avoid this product like the plague!!!

Blankets arrived and it was a relief to discover that these were good quality. Prior purchases of wool blankets elsewhere had me concerned that there would be an issue with the smell but happily this was NOT a problem with these. I'm happy with the purchase and if I need to order more, this is the type that I will get.

Got this a while back for a crafting thing. It comes straight out the box smelling STRONGLY of chemicals. Suffocatingly so. I had to wash out the fireproofing/waterproofing just to get it tolerable. It's wool, so the itchyness was expected. Overall the material is thick, durable, and a bit heavy, so it's a solid blanket.

Puede que sea algo pesada, pero para acampar es excelente, dentro de la tienda de campaña no necesité nada más que esto. En espacios abiertos es posible que se requiera de una capa adicional. Lávenla antes de usar ya que da picazón.

I used the wool blanket to cover my wheelchair bound legs and feet until my dog ( named Trouble) took the blanket over and during the course of several months proceeded to chew it to pieces. But he was quite toasty warm as he destroyed HIS blankie.
Good cover in cold weather
It’s a bit rough but it protects from cold weather. It’s good to have for camping trips.
