First up this canteen and nesting cup are plenty beefy.The gasket is THICK and doesn't leak.People rag on the canteen cover because it doesn't fit perfect but use your imagination ya dweebs.It is VERY effective at its purpose. Keeping the dirty blackened grunge thats on your cup OFF of your gear.I made a couple modifications to make this perfect.I put a hollow rope around the cap retainer to limit noise during movement.And used shock cord and a carabiner to make the cover more effective and secure. I melted a hole in the velcro section of the closure which was useless before, and used the hole to secure the shock cord and keep it closed.

This is not insulated which is what I wanted. Nice durable stainless steel canteen and the cup too, although the handle is a little flimsy along with the chain that attaches the cap to the canteen. It’s so shiny I could probably use it as a mirror when shaving. Holds plenty of water for one person doing a day of mild activity. My only complaints are the cap/chain being kinda flimsy, when water is stored in it for a while it tastes like plastic (only plastic component is the cap) and the pouch that comes with it is very loose and tends to flop around when clipped to my molle webbing.

I like to use grill paint on my camp cookware. For some reason I did not do so when I got this kit. It handled well and cleaned up very easily. New weird taste like my plastic canteen. Boiled water in it despite what my girlfriend said about damaging canteens. Still fine and looks good.

I like it. I threw the pouch away and instead used a pouch from a similar canteen that I bought at a yard sale. Pretty sure that pouch was issued to a family member in wwII. I carry this canteen with me every day. It hangs on the side of my messenger bag and the profile is great. Less cumbersome than the round water bottles that are en vogue at the moment. Plus nesting cup which tickles me just right.

The quality of this canteen and the cup are great. Customer service from Goetland was also great.My sole complaint is that it is quite difficult to get the cap screwed on. Literally, it could take 30-60 seconds to get the threads lined up between the plastic cap and the metal canteen. It is extremely prone to cross-threading. The standard plastic military-issue canteen (coarse threads, can't be cross-threaded) is far superior. I don't know the exact mechanical issue. It may be the tapering of the threads within the cap. Perhaps with use the situation will improve (stress relaxation in plastics and all that). I would say that this product is unsuitable for children (not for safety reasons, just that the mechanical finesse to deal with screwing the cap on isn't often found in children).

This might not be exact brand/model that's issued to American troops but it is the same design. The stainless steel is food grade quality so doesn't affect the taste of contents. The mug doubles as a cooking vessel which is convenient and means less weight needs to be carried. Used on a survival weekend in Wales and was very pleaseed with this purchace.
