I've had my Miracle-Gro composter for three years and have been very happy with its performance and ability to turn my house hold compostables into high quality compost. Recently, the unit was damaged in a move, after contacting the manufacturer, they connected me to the replacement parts - fast and easy.Highly recommend the unit.
4.0 out of 5 stars Very Handy
The instructions are annoying in that you have to scan a QR code to get them. Not sure why my tablet refused to read it but my i-phone did. Of course, now it's on a 3 inch screen. Of course, it includes annoying pop-up ads trying to get you to subscribe to their website before you even had a chance to build it. It went together easily except for one step where the pan head screws can't be screwed in straight because the pan head is too big for the guide slot it supposed to fit in. I used an alternate screw which I just happened to have in my massive collection of assorted screws. Snapping the side pieces on took a bit more gusto than expected. The two bottom brackets just sit in their holes on the legs so moving this bin will always result in having to re-position them. I built a little caddy so that I could move it without lifting it. It really looks nice once done and is very convenient to use. Looking forward to my first batch of mulch.
5.0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected
When I put this together I was concerned. It looks low quality but it's not. Directions suck, but it works. Super happy no mice in the regular trash anymore, smell in the house is better. Compost doesn't smell a lot and it good for the planet. Win win
1.0 out of 5 stars EXTREMELY Poorly Made, Horrible Instructions, NO PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED (had to be downloaded
This is a HORRIBLY cheaply made product. The plastic isn't much thicker than a blister pack that holds retail sale items. All plastic parts are EXTREMELY thin, and not sturdy.Panels are held together boy ONE, EXTREMELY FLIMSY plastic clip between two panels. Fortunately, it came with extra clips to hold the panels together because TWO OF THE CLIPS BROKE WHEN I TRIED TO SNAP THEM IN PLACE.The doors are just as flimsy as the other plastic parts and are on EXTREMELY thin 'Tracks'. I doubt that this will last more than one season! Now let's talk about the CRAPPY instructions, WHICH WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE BOX. There is just a link to get the instructions online, using the excuse that it is "Saving Trees"... This is a LOUSY excuse for not including PRINTED instructions, because NOBODY I know is going to take an expensive laptop computer to their garden to read the assembly instructions. The manufacturer was just trying to make a few CENTS more profit by making the USER print the assembly instructions. IF THEY REALLY WANT TO SAVE TREES, PRINT THE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS WITH NON-TOXIC INK AND USE COMPOSTABLE, RECYCLED PAPER!Instructions referred to "GREEN" and "Yellow" parts (to differentiate between the two compartments), however ALL of the parts were GREEN (aside from the flimsy doors). While the parts all fit, IF YOU ARE GOING TO CALL OUT DIFFERENT COLORED PARTS, THEN SUPPLY THE APPROPRIATE PARTS. It's not a 'deal breaker', but it is an example of the manufacturer's lack of attention to detail. It all adds up to a poorly designed product, with horrible instructions!
3.0 out of 5 stars Directions unclear
There’s a QR code for assembly instructions, which takes you slide by slide, and refers to part a, b, c, etc but none of the parts have have labels directly on them so you’re looking at a small snapshot to compare to the picture or swiping all the way back to the beginning and then back to where you were. The clips are not easy to clip in and shaped differently than pictured in the directions. I don’t think it would have taken me as long if the pictures showed more detail and the parts were labeled.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect at home/backyard composter
I gave my dad this composter for Father's day. He's a versatile dude, liking both outdoorsy things and tech. He can be a hard to get gifts for each year, but I nailed it with this. The double barrel composter is large, but they had smaller options available. This size is what I knew would work well for the amount of food scraps/waste my parents produce and the size of their backyard/patio. It was easy to assemble, and once assembled, it is sturdy. It has been in use for over 6 months now and doing great. The doors slide and seem sturdy, but are also simple. It isn't reasonable to expect they would walk outside in the cold winter months just to drop an egg shell in, so I got them a small counter top sized container with an odor proof lid to dump their scraps in and take out once a week once full. It hasn't been a full year yet, but they are planning to use the compost as soil when spring comes again. They are currently using one barrel for scraps and have put the other 'out of commission' to let to product decompose into soil. My dad loves it. It is low maintenance, he only spins it once a day or so when in the backyard doing other projects. He's excited to use the soil in his plant beds this spring and feels good not throwing useful scraps in the trash.
5.0 out of 5 stars Really like the design
The QR code instructions make this a breeze to assemble. Feels flimsy at first. As it snaps together it becomes very sturdy.Smart design, functional & an excellent value. I reviewed, shopped many, MANY compost bins. This was the best for my needs and I highly recommend the purchase.
2.0 out of 5 stars Lack of quality
Wanted to go with miracle pro brand as I expected to be a good quality product - but must say - I am dissapointed.Good concept but lack of quality. While it was easy to assemble and seemed to be very practical for my needs, after just few days of putting food scraps there - the stopper feel off and it started to leak. The whole things is less sturdy than it appears. Save your money and buy something else.
La mejor inversión
Ya no batallamos con los desechos orgánicos ya que el camión de la basura pasa una vez a la semana. Además tenemos de manera rápida tierra buena para nuestro jardín.
Sturdy, simple design.
Good so far, I can’t speak to it’s effectiveness with composting yet cause it too soon to tell, however the size is good, turns without problems and feels sturdy. As for those people who say it was difficult to put together, the only way that is the case is if they didn’t follow the online step by step guide with pictures they provide the link for. Those instructions were so easy that often I had to skip “steps” because I already did it before they showed the next picture. Don’t download the “printable instructions”- they were not helpful.
Contact the company for better clips
I thought this product in theory would be great as a roller is more efficient to compost quickly, and this does that. Unfortunately the product construction is a huge fail. As the weight of the compost increases (we use ours almost daily) there are only these little clips to hold the barrels together and they fail miserably. We will end up having to duct tape the compartments together as they constantly bust open when you try to spin the barrel. As well the barrels are starting to lean into each other on the middle because of this weight. And the compartments not staying sealed up leak compost fluids and compost out as they cannot stay closed. Don't buy this composter, save your money.*Product Update- contacted the seller and they sent new clips that are far superior in design and quality installed them and they are sturdy and working great!
Excellent Composter
I now have two of these composters in different sizes. They are easy to assemble snd do a terrific job of composting vegetable scraps and chicken manure.
Not for serious gardeners
This unit will work OK for someone with a small garden its not really large enough for anyone with an average to large garden producing grass and plant clippings. Its made of plastic parts that clip together , time will tell how sturdy these are after being in the sun for a while. The instructions in the box are to redirect you to their website where they have a good video for the assembly. There is a brake type handle to secure the barrel part from rotating, which broke as soon s their was weight in the container, totally useless. It sort of works with out it, but just not well made. Overall it'll work for now but I can see myself making a bigger better one next season.
