5.0 out of 5 stars Fits the Cal King, very sturdy, watch out for small kiddos- NO YOUNG BABIES! WATCH THE GAP!
This thing is very sturdy! I use it to pull myself out of bed sometimes.1) Length (Regular): It is pretty long so I think that an even shorter one would still be fine. I cannot think of why you would want the longer one. The height is not that high so it really is to prevent accidental falling out of bed not so much determined effort.2) Height: I put a picture in. Our mattress is not a super tall mattress like some of the pillow toppers are. I think if you had such a mattress this would be too short. But for us, it works perfectly.3) Securing it to your bed: It's pretty easy to do but a bit tricky to do well. We used the straps. We slid the straps under the mattress with lifting it slightly. It took 2 tries because we got them crossed at one point. And I thought I had it tight but was later able to get almost another foot of strap pulled out. MAKE SURE YOU TIGHTEN THAT THING LIKE HE-MAN! See warning below. The straps and plastic holders are very sturdy and I was impressed. I was really pulling on them and they held up.4) Swing down feature: I haven't really been using the swing down feature- it is hard to get to from in bed. I think that is another point to #1 with not getting anything any longer. However- it is helpful to get it out of the way for making the bed. The thingies you have to pull up are quite strong and by the time you've sat up enough to pull them both simultaneously (you can maybe do one at a time but they snap back pretty fast) you might as well just scoot out of bed.WARNING!!: There's a gap between the mesh and the mattress (pictures are before I really tightened it- you can see a 2-3" gap). Even tightened as much as possibly there is still about a ~1" gap between the bed and the mesh. It could get looser with use (as the cloth stretches) because the issue is that the poles, despite having decent tension on the mesh, simply cannot make it fully flush with the mattress. I think this would be true of any of these types of rails and is definitely not a design flaw of this particular one. Something like a pool noodle under the sheet is better for really small babies.DO NOT USE THIS WITH YOUNG INFANTS! There is a disclaimer on the item itself but definitely take it seriously! I can easily see a tragedy happen if used with too small a child and/or not tight enough to the bed. Probably 25 pounds and able to climb/crawl is the minimum, but obviously I haven't tested that out. Maybe a bit smaller would be ok if more physically advanced and/or if you have a thicker mattress, but please be careful and make sure it is secured as tightly as humanly possible! My kiddo (~30 pounds) rolled into the gap before I really tightened the straps and got stuck but was old enough to squirm around to breathe and call for help and almost get out without help (maybe could have done it if I hadn't rescued so quickly?). How they slide into the gap if they are lying on their belly (or crawling) presses their face against the mattress. If not supervised that could easily suffocate even an advanced infant if they were stuck for a long time at a tragic angle. I've now tightened it almost to breaking the straps/plastic and I rolled the kiddo to the divider to test and no sliding into the gap. Tighten! Tighten! Tighten! And test it out.So I think used conscientiously it is ok for older infants- you have to weigh size/weight to maybe get stuck versus rolling off the bed as to which is more dangerous. Or get them to sleep in their crib I guess (hah hah... easier said than done). For toddlers they are probably too big for this to be an issue and also could self-rescue.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
Loved it ! Very easy to assemble and very strong ! It’s just the perfect size for our king size bed. I can now be more assured the bed is safer for our son. It’s also comfortable and breathable if my son does go the side.
5.0 out of 5 stars Work great!
We bought four of the large extended versions for our two toddlers transitioning from their cribs to twin beds. We bought them planning for the transition in a few weeks. But when the kids started climbing out of their cribs, we had to move fast to put the bed and bed rails together before bedtime one night.I had spent hours researching toddler bed rails online because we have platform twin beds with wood slats holding up the mattress, but no box spring. SO MANY of these bed rails DO NOT WORK WITH PLATFORM BEDS and especially with slats. THESE RAILS DO WORK WITH PLATFORM BEDS with slats or plywood bases and they come with the necessary parts for each type. From my research, I found out that many bed rails are not able to sit on the platform (whether they are solid plywood or slats) and still reach above the edge of the bed frame so they can fold down. And, many bed rails are not able to fasten correctly to a platform, either. THIS MODEL WORKS PERFECTLY with our platform bed with slats and folds up and down perfectly. It is strong enough to hold our 2 1/2 year olds when they are pushing on the rails.PLEASE WATCH THE ONLINE INSTRUCTIONS!!! The instruction book that comes with is very confusing and the pictures are all very close up so you can't tell what parts they are trying to show you. Also if you ordered this EXTENDED version, NEITHER THE BOOK NOR THE ONLINE VIDEO SHOWS WHAT TO DO WITH THE EXTENSION PART. I saw so many reviews here that said the mesh was too big for the rails and there was an extra piece left over. Well, duh, that's the extension piece meant to fit the extra long mesh. Please read the comments and understand the extra piece is meant to go in between the shorter ends so it extends all the way out and the mesh fits over the whole frame.Otherwise, these were very easy to put together after watching the video. We initially installed them with the velcro on the slats, but for other reasons, we added a piece of plywood over the slats (because there was a large gap at the head and end of the bed all the way to the ground where the kids could get stuck). We then screwed the bed rail supports into the plywood, making sure the screws didn't protrude through the plywood - because you know kids will crawl under their beds...Finally, because these are so long, it's hard to release the locks and fold them down with both hands at the same time. I can't reach all the way from one end to the other at all. So, my trick is to: 1) Unlock one end; 2) Pull it toward you so it doesn't re-lock; 3) Keep holding the rail and then slide your hand down toward the other end, pulling the rail toward you a bit so the first end doesn't re-lock; 4) When you get to the other end, keep pulling it toward you a bit and unlock the second end. The whole bed rail should then release and fold down easily. I have done this many times and even one-handed with a baby in one arm. On our small twin beds, the rails fold all the way down so they're parallel with the side of the bed. They don't stick out at all when folded down.Good luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to assemble
This bedrail works very well. We use the extra long one on the side of a twin mattress to keep our granddaughter from rolling off of the bed. The only negative is that the instructions were for the standard length rail and didn't say anything about using the rail extensions to make the frame long enough, but it was easy enough to figure out.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great side rail. Sturdy and nice looking.
Great side rail. Long enough to nearly block the entire side of a twin bed. Easy to unlock and a soft close locking mechanism. Nicely padded. Easy to understand directions.
5.0 out of 5 stars Life saver - solids sturdy worthy every penny
My mom is an Alzheimer’s patient, and she had been falling off the bed on and off, and I had been researching for just a product that will provide her the level of safety. I tried several products from Bolo and everyone had one or the other floor. This specific brand was just perfect. It is actually meant for toddlers and my mom is around 150 pounds but it just worked well for her it may seem off as not sturdy but believe me it’s solid go for it. It’s worth every penny. Thank you.
Not designed for thick mattress
Item barely offers protection as it is just a fee inches higher than our mattress.
