5.0 out of 5 stars Good sound excellent value

You may find a speaker that sounds a little better but, I challenge you to find one that competes at this price level. I'm using the Rockit in conjunction with a Line 6 Amp Head Unit (POD HD500X) and it's working great for practice/home studio. I'd buy the same again in a heartbeat.

5.0 out of 5 stars This deserves great reviews. 5 stars across the board.

This is a really nice speaker, I only have one right now but it sounds amazing. Great bass, great mid, great highs. It can get loud, or you can softly play it at night. It’s proven perfect for the home studio. The structure feels so tough and slick too. It only comes with the power cord, make sure to purchase a XLR to 1/4 Inch aux cord for you interface or compute though. Great buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Covers 21 to 16,000+ Hz evenly but has faint hiss, bad volume knob spot, and power cord is too short

    R.K. · June 28, 2023

These speakers cover the full range of the audio spectrum, down to 21 Hz at the very lowest. Play a 21 Hz sound I can feel the diaphragm of the woofer vibrating. Play a 20 Hz sound and nothing - can't feel it. I can't tell what the highest is, but it's at least 16,000 Hz and I don't have a way to test that. I can output 48,000 Hz at the highest frequency (from a 96,000 Hz sampling rate) so that's not the limiting factor.I got these speakers to replace previous ones that were dying on me (they were 10 years old). I tried other monitors but these took the cake because you don't even need a subwoofer (short of heavy emphasis on the extreme lows). I've been composing music using these speakers to find an ideal balance in instrument volumes. When I change the speed of a song (which affects both tempo and pitch), the shift keeps the balance, rather than certain frequencies being amplified while others are deamplified). At least general set up was fast. The power drain is much less than I was anticipating. Stop the music or turn off the power and I see no detectable change in power consumption. It may be because I only listen to music at 40 to 50 dB. I'm sure it'll take up more power when raised, but it gets uncomfortable to me as I have sensitive hearing. There are 4 main downsides though, 3 of which deny a 5-star rating. The first is a constant, high-pitched hiss that seems like white noise (like using a random number generator to form random noise, though it's more concentrated toward the higher frequencies, like around 3 KHz). It's very faint though, about 10 dB from 1 meter away. I listen to my music around 40-50 dB, raising it to 45-55 at the highest when composing. The other major down side is that the volume knob is on the back instead of the front, making it very difficult to get to, and it's very slow. Thus, I use my equalizer I had with my previous speakers as a volume control, with the EQ set to flat (+0 dB on all frequencies). I wished the volume knob was on the front, such as in the bottom compartment area near the "Rokit 8" depressed text or on the opposite side of the "KRK Systems" logo. The volume knob is also very slow for adjusting the volume. I started out with one of my songs being deamplified to -48 dB and it came out at my usual listening volume of about 45 dB at 1 meter away, hinting that it was way loud. It also took nearly an entire minute to set the volume to -40 dB because it's so slow to adjust it (and even then, my equalizer is typically around -6 dB).The third problem is that the provided power cord is much too short! I've had to have one of the speakers be well off center for their angle (not aimed at me) just to get the power cord to just barely reach the center point, putting a lot of extra strain on the cord and plugs that shouldn't be necessary. I got replacement power cords that are 3 meters long instead of the original 2 and that solved the problem without having much in the way of tension or pulling. The fourth case, though a very minor one, is that the light that makes up the "KRK Systems" logo is kind of bright when trying to sleep. Fortunately, turning it off is just a quick press of a button for me on a power strip with individual outlets. The LED isn't necessary - regular printing could be used for the logo.Overall, I'm quite impressed and I feel that these are worthy for composers and music fans alike, though there are some weak points that should be fixed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of a faulty product

    A.C. · December 1, 2022

I watched some YouTube reviews and decided to get KRK R8s. There was a pair of used ones on Bolo for just under 200 bucks each - what a luck, huh?Unfortunately, as soon as they came in I realized what was wrong with them: even if no sound cable is plugged in, they still produce a constant hissing noise audible from 2 meters from the speaker. After googling for "KRK hissing sound," I found a ton of similar discussions on Reddit, and, I even found a review from, most likely, the previous buyer of the same pair of speakers that I got :DWelp, mine are going back too, but anyone reading this, please beware and don't buy used Rokits from Bolo. Probably, don't even buy new ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love these speakers.

These are amazing. you can't beat them for the price. I would definitely buy them again. I got them for my studio recording. So far = zero problems. See what happens when companies do not cut corners. (just be sure the minute you do - I will be all over it - so don't! these are decent speakers at a decent price! don't go cutting corners by adding inferior parts).

These things are so legit! Be sure to break them in a bit when you first buy them buy playing some jazz music for while to loosen up the speakers before you start destroying them with your dub step beats. They are a little expensive but I guess its the going rate and they will last forever if you take care of them.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Don’t pay over $220

Best value you will find for the money. But $300 is a rip off. I purchase local for $215 each. Mark-up on these is ridiculous.

Acheter pour remplacer mes vieux Behringer... Wow! Quelle différence au niveau de la qualité sonore, de la précision. Encore en rodage mais déja elle me donne ce qu'un studio d'enregistrement doit etre, de la qualité!

    Buyer Beware - No Warranty!

    M. · May 14, 2024

Bolo is not an authorized reseller of KRK equipment. My unit died within the manufacturer warranty period and they refuse to repair free of charge as Bolo was not authorized to sell them.

    Hissing

    A. · May 9, 2021

Hissing sound can be heard even with 5 fans (Noctua) on my computer running. A little dissapointed. I want to add that I love the look of the speakers and the sound. Overall I am happy with them. The noise is just a bit dissapointing. I expected there not to be any noise.
