I used rubber gaskets I found on Bolo to keep candles snug and secure for my candle sticks, but the holders can be squeezed to help secure my tapered candlesticks. I have hot glued the bottom of the holders to my candlesticks. But they work great and I will be buying more! I’ve burned enough candles in these to say that they are very reliable in keeping the candle wax from running down the candlestick and on to any surface. I love that I don’t feel guilty throwing them away when needed. But, depending on your candle, I have been able to use them more than once or twice. Works great!!!

Does the job but are ugly to look at.
