5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Product
I really like this brand. The packaging was great, transformer was well protected. The box was damaged on one side on delivery but, because of the great packaging inside, the unit was not affected. I love the stainless steal case and the easy of installing it. I am not a professional landscaper but, did my research and this product came up over and over. It is well worth the money as it will last for years to come. I replaced a 20-25 year old system that had a small plastic transformer. I did have to return this one because I had miscalculated the size I would need. I did order the correct size and it was very easy to swap out. This one comes with a timer that you plug into the inside of the transformer and everything closes up securely inside the weatherproof box. I will add pictures later to this review. Don’t hesitate to buy this unit.
5.0 out of 5 stars Simply - THE BOMB!
This is an awesome transformer for your low-voltage needs. I researched and researched and landed on this 300w low profile unit.It not only looks great it is highly functional and sturdy and very well made.Have the 5 separate taps was key for me as I had a 3 run immediate need and a 4th that I am still noodleing on. Which leaves me with a spare yet-to be determined run.The 12v and 15v options for each run are also awesome. If you need the extra push of power on those extra long runs the 15w is there to save the day.I did have a few exchanges with their tech support around output as I needed mor info. They responded fast with plenty of info. The 300w total gives you plenty of power assuming you are using 3w & 5w LED lights.I know.... It is expensive. However, if you take into consideration the expandability and power and 5 tap run it is hands down worth it.I recommend this as a great transformer.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great design! Solid!!
My hardware store transformer died and I did a ton of shopping around. This one is a bit more expensive but holy smokes- so worth it not to buy another one in two years! Easy to install, solid construction and they stand behind their product. I ordered the 100w and I didn’t account for the 20% of variance needed and it wasn’t enough (I am running 93w). I returned it and got the 150w. Perfect.I love their products- so well designed and built. It’s refreshing to buy something that is real and high quality.
5.0 out of 5 stars Really Well-made
This replaced a 15 year old transformer. The Volt transformer is a big upgrade, and I love it comes with a sensor for dusk to dawn automatic control. I would definitely buy it again.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works well and installs very easy.
Product was used for outdoor lighting and works well.
5.0 out of 5 stars There are landscape lights transformers and there is Volt.
My two-years old landscape lights transformer decided that it had enough of Arizona summers and gave up. I got one of those Bolo Choice transformers that worked when I first tried it, but when I drilled the holes into the wall and completed the installation, it suddenly lost its mojo.Consequently, I decided to go for something more reliable but, alas, double in price. My old transformer was rated 100W and I replaced it with one at the same power. Interestingly, Volt sells on Bolo 100W and 300W models but for their own standard kit they use a 150W model. It’s almost like they push to sell the most expensive 300W model. If you use LED’s 300W might be enough for half of the neighborhood. The transformer is really well made, all stainless steel without being too heavy and it is aesthetically pleasing. The access door has a weather proof gasket and the door can be locked with a padlock. You can even remove it, if you don’t like it for a strange reason. At the bottom, the box has two connectors access holes for the landscape lights wires making it possible to weather proof them (see the picture). I also preferred to use crimp connectors terminals to directly inserting the stripped wires. The timer module comes separately and you just replace the existing module (that has no timer).
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to operate!
Unfortunately our outside wall transformer to control two tree up lights died on us after 6 years. This unit is much better but along with the cost of an electrician to relocate one light and install this it was a costly project. But this is much easier to operate. Has an easy latch door and a see through window to tell that it is functioning. Our old one had to be opened with a screwdriver to reset the timer if the power went out or with Day light savings. This one is easy peasy. Just hope I can get a long time use out of it and the lights are the originals so hope they don’t die any time soon. It all started with a dead oak tree that had to be taken down and the up light to it moved to another tree!
5.0 out of 5 stars New favorite transformer
Listen, I'm a professional master electrician in Texas and this is the only landscape lighting transformer I'll be using in the future. I used it to replace a transformer that I installed a year and a half ago. That one had a digital read out and good reviews on Bolo. It looked similar to something you'd find at Lowe's or home depot. Well, after a year and a half the digital display failed and the one year warranty was expired. There was nothing to do but buy a new transformer. After that experience the lifetime warranty and replaceable timer on this unit appealed to me. I had never heard of the brand, but the reviews were great and seemed real, so I went for it. I wasn't disappointed. This is the best transformer I've ever installed or even worked with in my 15 years as an electrician. The construction is excellent, the design is even better with a plug in timer unit and the photo cell tucked safely behind the sturdy door lens to keep it from the elements. I totally loved that detail! Here in Texas most photo cells last 3 years max, thanks to the sun roasting them all summer long. I don't see that being a problem with this unit. It gets light through the lens on the door, but it's completely out of the weather. Genius.Function was fine so far. My client was happy. And I'm not worried because I know I installed a quality piece of equipment with a lifetime warranty just in case. I'll only be using Volt transformer in the future.
