5.0 out of 5 stars Happy Belly Clover Honey - First Time Buyer Opinions (Simple Real or Fake Tips Included)
During the "supply chain shortages" this spring and summer. Thing I found hardest to find is honey. As I need to avoid Raw Honey ; the last thing a person allergic bee venom wants is bits of bee in their honey. After a horrible honey purchase experience. I found a small bottle of Happy Belly Brand Honey and purchased it via Bolo Fresh. Had never purchased any of the brand before so I wasn't sure what to expect because there is a bit of a debate between customers on product page because the only ingredient listed is Honey rather than Pure Honey. Does Fake or Imitation Honey Exist? Yes, it is a bio engineered food largely made in China and the U.S. FDA tries to keep it out of our countrybecause of pesticides used in China as they been outlawed here ages ago. Main base ingredients are best or cane or best sugar with molasses and a little real honey for flavor. Is Happy Belly Clover Honey Fake? NO it's REAL HONEY🐝 Here is how I know and you can use this to test your honey purchases🐝 1 Does it Crystallize? Only real honey will . Happy Belly had a small amount of white crystals before I opened it, at the top. Looks like granulated salt. It's from the natural sugar and pollen content🐝🐝 2 Does it give you a feeling (tickle) in the back of your throat? Real Honey will; it's the pollen present that does this how you respond to the pollen depends on how much feel you get.If you want more of a scientific test try one of these : Paper towel Test: Place a dollop of your Honey and see if it spreads out or does it drip on through?. I used one Small square of Bounty Brand. Happy Belly Clover Honey spread out and didn't soak through after 15 minutes.Bread Test: place a generous dollop of Honey on a slice of bread without spreading it around. I used Pepperidge farm's Potato Bread Real Honey will sink in some and turn your bread slightly crunchy. This is from the crystallization process. Fake Honey will soak on through to your plate because the fake stuff has a high water content. Real Honey doesn't. Happy Belly Clover Honey passed this test.So why the confusion? Happy Belly Clover Honey doesn't use buzz words like 100% or Pure on it's label everything thing they put on costs money. Money that we must pay for. So it's actually saving us customers money so I actually appreciate that their labeling is simplistic and allows for a more of a value. Also the True Source Certified on the back label is not something seen on many products in U.S. Grocery store chains. It's a Voluntary program that honey companies bee farms sign up for they have a website that explains there process and mission.Country of origin: Argentina, Canada and United StatesIf you want to avoid purchasing a faked honey the easiest way is to be wary of any brand that lists India as it's country of India as they are the largest buyer of China's Imitation Honey according to several trusted sources online. Just search imitation honey how to spot. As I don't think I can mention them even if they are educational.Bottom line I am very impressed by this Clover Honey because of it's great taste, value, knowing it's real and will continue to purchase it. I also will try other Happy Belly brand products in the future. I would highly recommend this product to others. My opinions are strictly my own I didn't receive anything for this review. Paper Towel and Bread Test along with knowledge of crystallization was passed down from my great grandmother whose father and brother were beekeepers going back to the great depression era.
5.0 out of 5 stars Yummy honey
This reminds me of the game I'm developing on Steam called My Beeloved, where you can date a bee and harvest her sweet honey.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great taste, doesn't crystalize
We love the Bolo Fresh golden honey! We started getting it with the winter cold season to have in tea. We've had other brands before and found that they would crystalize after a while, and it became hard to get the honey out of the jar--especially the ones shaped like bears! It blends well in tea and we have not found it separating and lying in the bottom of the cup when we're done. We like it so much we put it on Subscribe & Save. Highly recommend!
4.0 out of 5 stars Tasty for everyday use & for baking.
This has a good flavor but I gave it 4 stars because it doesn't have the refined floral taste some more costly honey often does. It's absolutely perfect for everyday use though & it's a cost savings pantry staple in my home. It tastes good in teas as well as my baking. I also use it in one bread recipe that I use often. A good value & a good taste.
