5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic alcohol markers at a fantastic price!

I absolutely enjoy every day that I have when I can work on an art project. Im sure that I spend 11 - 20 hours a day working with various types of pigment media (ie., Colored pencils, markers, watercolors, acrylic paints......etc.). Because it's so enjoyable, and a perfect way to spend much of my retirement, im always watching for the newest and greatest products to hit the market. Quite a while back, I purchased the Arteza watercolor brush pens and it was love at first sight. So when I saw that my beloved watercolor pens had a new sibling, I could hardly wait to try themA day or two ago I ordered the set of 60 markers and almost counted the days, hours, and minutes until they arrived. Here's what I found:A beautiful set of 59 alcohol markers (1 colorless blender is counted to total 60 markers). They are alcohol markers - that means that, YES, they bleed. It's just the nature of alcohol markers. With practice you learn very quickly to compensate for this and it's not a problem. You should consider this normal with any alcohol marker, regardless of what we would like to think. These markers have a very attractive, triangular shape to them. It took me a few minutes to adjust to their shape, but it's definitely not a concern. If anything, it makes them very stable. You needn't ever worry about them rolling away.I quickly built a a color swatch chart. After carefully swatching each pen, I was thrilled!! Every single marker was juicy and worked beautifully. Something that can't be said of all brands. The colors are all very bright and vivid. Like the watercolor siblings to these markers, I couldn't be happier with the results. Well, actually there is one thing that would make these markers the cats pajamas - they currently come with a chisel tip on one end of the pen, and a bullet tip on the reverse end. While these tips do work beautifully, they would be spectacular if instead of a chisel tip, they had a brush tip. Even though I personally prefer a brush tip, these markers perform so beautifully, that this is definitely not a deal breaker for me.The last thing that I would like to mention about these markers is the price. I don't think that for the money - dollar for dollar - that you could find a better marker. Yes there are some very expensive markets out there that have the reputation of a Rolls Royce. But I think if you put both markers to the test, side by side, I think that anyone would be hard pressed to spend that much money on a set of markers, when the Arteza stand up equally well. That's my personal opinion folks, and nobody paid me or promised me anything to say it. These markers were paid for with my own, hard earned money.I hope that many of you will purchase these wonderful markers and enjoy them as much as I do.Have a most blessed day and color on!!!05/26/2019. Update: I am still extraordinarily happy with my purchase. The only problem that I ran into immediately, was the fact that I wanted more colors. If I had waited 2 more weeks to purchase my markers, the 120 color pack would have been available. I would encourage all of you, if you possibly can to purchase the 120 color pack. These are juicy, beautiful markers. I am definitely going to save my pennies so that I can purchase the larger pack. You won'the be disappointed with these markers. Like ALL ALCOHOL MARKERS, they bleed. With a little practice (especially if you have not used alcohol markers) you will love these beauties as much as I do. As slways, have a blessed day and color on!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great markers!

Updated review:Great value for the money! I purchased these markers several weeks ago and I love them. I have used them every day since. The colors are beautiful, intense, and I don’t get those terrible lines often created when markings layer over previous markings, or when you’re covering large surfaces. The chisel tip is nice, the fine tip is more like a medium tip and won’t do ultra-fine lines but is exactly what I need and I love the results I’ve gotten. They glide wonderfully over smooth paper, and don’t bleed when used on textured cotton paper (like Sharpies tend to do).I recommend them for any age and experience level. I’m a professional, but my kids love using these markers for posters, school work, and their own art. They really enjoy all the color options. I love that they have a wide, comfortable barrel and are sturdy and inexpensive enough I don’t worry about letting the kids use them. However, no product is perfect so I’ve listed a few of the cons below (but still give these markers five stars).1. I ordered the set of 120 markers. It included a lot of wonderful colors, but there are about 25 shades of gray and only two true reds (though there are several red variations). The set is missing some basics, like just a simple pink or brown. Sometimes I don’t need burnt sienna or “sandpaper grit gray”, I just want a basic color like you’d find in a box of 12 crayons. There are all sorts of fun colors, which I adore, but no true white and only one black.3. Despite having a whooping 120 colors, this set doesn’t actually include all the colors available from Arteza. There are several colors in the skin tones pack (sold as a set of 36) that aren’t in this set, so a I purchased it separately and now have about 20 duplicates. I wish there was a way to purchase individual markers in order to complete the set or replace frequently used markers once they run out. I searched high and low on the internet and couldn’t find individual markers available for purchase. Plus, now that I’ve purchased the smaller set, not all the markers fit in the case, which I find a bit annoying. I also counted 12 shades from the gray scale pack (of 36) that aren’t included in this as well. I wish there was a more complete pack (I didn’t see one larger than the 120 pack).4. They soak through even the heaviest paper. I use 120 weight cardstock and have had them bleed through two sheets and onto a third because, in order to get the colors to blend, you have to use quite a bit of ink. On 300 lb watercolor paper, I still put an additional sheet of paper beneath my work to prevent bleed-through.5. They may be called “Everblend” but they really don’t blend as well as I’d hoped. Perhaps it’s because these are alcohol based? Perhaps water based inks would blend better. The two enclosed blender pens are completely useless as far as I can tell. All that said, I still have had wonderful results with these pens and highly recommend them.

So, I got this set on sale for a little over $90, making the cost of each marker around $.75, which is a great value, especially for the quantity, and not counting the cost of the carrying case they came with, which has an extra 24 slots to expand your collection. All in all, I'm very happy with them as an addition to my Copics and Prismas. Of course, a brush tip on one of the ends instead of the chisel or the nib would be preferable, but they lay down nicely and blended well on marker paper.I included a color chart, done on mixed media paper, and there was considerably less feathering than Copics did on the same surface. As far as the color selection is concerned, I was slightly disappointed by the lack of difference in value within each color family, especially on the light end of the spectrum. I do think the gray scale and selection was great, but I think the other colors are missing the very pale and very dark colors that I really appreciate in Copics. Also, five of the yellow colors were almost identical. I would have rather seen a pale lemon and a primary yellow in place of two or three of those. These things aside, I generally really like them, and plan on purchasing the portrait set of colors. It contains surprisingly very few repeated colors as in this set, which already has a pretty decent selection of neutral tones.Good quality for non-refillable, non-open stock set of markers; they are alcohol-based , so anyone who is planning on using them for normal coloring books or paper should not be surprised by them bleeding through.

Diverse ranges of skin tones that anyone would need but also as artists know these tones can also be useful for other work, I enjoy using these markers, it is very good compared to Copic and Windsor and Newtons for the price, these markers also have good tips and can colour a decent sized area well.I’m quite happy with them makes a good base layer for coloured pencils too.

    Tolle Stifte!

Ich verwende die Stifte Zuhause zum Malen. Die Stifte haben eine irrsinnige Deckkraft. Maulunterlage verwenden, die drücken durch. Ich liebe sie.

    Ottimi

È un bel set di colori, la varietà di tonalità è veramente completa. Ottimo tratto e resa del colore, questi pennarelli tengono testa ai più famosi Copiic, ma il loro prezzo è decisamente più conveniente.
