5.0 out of 5 stars Clean and gentle
Love this facial wash! I used it after basal cell cancers were removed. It is very gentle, felt very clean and what’s best is I noticed a lot less redness and inflammation than with soap.
2.0 out of 5 stars Not for me
Not a fan of this face wash. My face still felt dirty after using this. I had to use it three times to remove my makeup and followed up with my normal face wash still. It doesn’t really lather up, just slips around. It’s also grossly overpriced. It’s not one I will repurchase.
3.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work for me
I did not feel that this product worked well for me personally.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great cleanser
Love this product! Doesn’t dry you skin out, makes skin feel clean refreshed.
1.0 out of 5 stars Smells horrible, doesn't cleanse, leaves my skin dry and expensive? NO THANKS
I really wanted to like this probiotic cleanser. It is not cheap at $36 and the bottle is not big either. It comes in a convenient pump dispenser which is probably the only good thing I have to say about this product unfortunately. When you use it, you are greeted by a horrible smell. Even though they add rose and chamomile, the tea tree wins and it wins bad. It is just horrible and the mix of those three is just bad. So using this in your face is not pleasant at all. The lather it produces is not impressive at all to say the least. The worst though, I didn’t find that it cleanses at all. I had some make up in my face and well when I was done it was still there. Really? What the heck is the point of using a cleanser if it doesn’t cleanse? Oh yeah and my skin was dry after I was done, ugh just why? Pointless really so yes this is going into the trash to say the least. Smells horrible, doesn’t cleanse and is expensive, you can guess the rating of this one.
4.0 out of 5 stars Watery Witch Hazel Wash with Peptides
The PhotozymeMD Probiotic P291 Cleanser comes in a 6oz white plastic pump. The wash itself is a runny, cloudy gel that does not foam. It is very gentle, isn't overdrying, and seems pH-balanced, but some of the ingredients highlighted on the sales post do not match up to the ingredients on the packaging. For example, I don't see the DNA repair enzymes, tea tree extract, or rose seed extract (listed on the site at the purchase time). I do see green tea extract and rosehip seed extract. I wish they were a hint more specific or accurate when citing their ingredients. The wash doesn't have any added colorants or fragrances. But it does have a strong witch hazel smell, which is one of the key ingredients."Enhanced with its proprietary probiotic concentrate to help promote healthier skin." I don't see probiotics, but I do see peptides listed when I researched the ingredients. It claims to have DNA repair enzymes, as do the other products in the PhotozymeMD skincare line. The enzyme (Micrococcus Lysate, the DNA repairing enzyme, aka UV-endonuclease, commonly harvested from ocean bacteria), is found in other PhotozymeMD products. But I do not see it listed on the formula of this wash. So I'm unsure as to what DNA repair enzyme they are referencing specifically for this wash.Ingredients (copied from the company's website): I had to, in some cases, pull the familiar name for some of these because the maker only put the chemical name, making it harder to determine what is in their wash.It would be nice if skincare makers were a little more transparent and put the information (in parathesis) so we know what they are talking about, like green tea or the St. Paul's wort instead of just putting Camellia Sinensis Leaf and sigesbeckia orientalis extract.Water (Aqua),Disodium Oleamido MEA-Sulfosuccinate (surfactant),Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate (surfactant),Lauryl Betaine (surfactant),Glycerin (humectant),Myristoyl Tetrapeptide-13 (collagen-boosting peptides),Pentylene Glycol (synthetic humectant),Butylene Glycol (conditioning agent),Hydroxyphenyl Propamidobenzoic Acid (anti-irritant agent),Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract,Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (green tea),Rosa Canina Fruit Extract (rosehip seed),Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract,Allantoin (comfrey plant root),Sigesbeckia Orientalis Extract (St. Paul's Wort),Ethoxydiglycol (solvent),PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocotte (lubricant),Centaurium Erythraea Extract (centaury herb),1,2-Hexanediol,Caprylyl Glycol,Sodium Carboxymethyl Beta-Glucan (binding agent),Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil (Eucalyptus),PEG-30 Glyceryl Cocotte (conditioning agent),Xanthin Gum,Disodium EDTA (preservative),Caprylyl Glycol (humectant),Phenoxyethanol (preservative),Potassium Hydroxide (lye)Key takeaways: No-frills, gentle, witch-hazel scent heavy, cloudy gel, non-foaming wash. I wouldn't use this at night as my solo wash as it won't breakdown and remove makeup and SPF on its own. You will need to use a makeup remover or a cleansing oil balm first, paired with this in the evening. Otherwise, for a morning wash, this is fine. Again, if you don't tolerate witch hazel well, I would not use this. If there are DNA enzymes present in the wash, it seems like an expensive waste. I'd rather there be more contact time of the enzymes with my skin, thorough a lotion or serum, than I would through my wash. Hint pricey at $36 for a basic peptide wash.
5.0 out of 5 stars I like that it helps to reverse sun damage
I am going to the doctor tomorrow and I am pretty sure I have skin cancer on my nose, in an area where I had it previously. So, if this can reverse the damage in case he sends me to a specialist, that would be wonderful. I haven't minded skin cancer on my arm or my shoulder, but it was a different story with my face.
2.0 out of 5 stars Smells horrible, worse than medicine
The facial cleanser has many great ingredients. This cleanser is probably best for people with skin problems. I am lucky I really do not have any skin issues. When I used the cleanser, the first thing that hit me hard was the smell. It smelled horrible, worse than back in day medicine. I also didn't feel it did a good job at removing the oils around my nose area.
