Works well as freestanding bed handrail. Perfect for new bed style with frame that raises/lowers head and feet, requiring nothing to fit underneath mattress (and tilt) as bed positions change.Assembly requires patience and many more washers (4 where 1 is shown, plus larger rubber/metal for steps 2 and 3) to eliminate wobble by obtaining a tight fit. Also, in step 3 when fitting part G into part D, place the supplied screwdriver into the predrilled screw hole to force the alignment from within rather than pushing or hammering G and D from the outside.

We have a platform bed with drawers in the platform and needed a bedrail that did not need to attach to the bed frame. This product was perfect - we pulled out one of the drawers near the headboard and placed this standing bedrail in its place. We had a little trouble with one of the holes not lining up for the screws. My husband drilled it out and everything worked fine. My mom loves the location of the bedrail and the confidence it gives her in getting out of bed.

It's a decent item; easy to put together and helpful for balance while getting in an out of bed. Just be aware that this is not weighted enough to actually support you or stop you from a fall. You can't use it to get in an out of bed, I'm mostly just using it to hang my bag on it for my remotes, phone, and book. Too expensive for that to be worth it.

What a disappointment! I ordered this Kavil product from Bolo - I am getting a knee replacement this summer and your seat lift assist item sounded like a great help during my recovery period.Today I tried to assemble it.Turns out, one of the four holes/joints for receiving a hand-turned bolt is missing. No hole. This is one of the two connect-points between the cross-connect bar and one of the footers.I am not going to bother returning the lift, I can get my brother-in-law to drill a hole and we'll put a regular bolt and nut through to hold the pieces together. Aside from the missing drill-hole, it was easy to assemble and a good enough support for me to rise from my bed with a newly replaced knee.But - clearly no one inspected the product. Kavil probably receive them from China, already bagged and simply ship them on. Time to take a closer look. If one part is missing on one of these, it is probably missing on others. Not everyone will have my resources, especially elderly.If quality means anything, Kavil should try to remedy this for future customers.
3.0 out of 5 stars OK as a Make-Do Solution, but Too Flimsy on Its Own
I bought this to help my elderly 120 lb. mother get out of bed, but as mentioned by other reviewers, the railing is too flimsy and unstable on its own. To compensate for this, I bought a 20 lb. set of ankle weight straps, placing one 10 lb. weight strap across the base cross bar of the rail and looping the other 10 lb. weight strap around the lower rail (see photos). With the 20 pounds of additional ballast, the rail seems fairly stable, and my mother feels safe using it to help her get out of bed.She previously had a bed rail with a base that slid between the mattress and box spring, with a safety strap that attached to the bed frame. If you can use that style, I think it is a MUCH safer option. However, my mother bought an adjustable bed a few months ago, and the old bed rail wouldn't work on her new bed (when the mattress is raised, there's a gap between the mattress and base that would let the railing slide around). We started looking for a free-standing bed rail to place next to her bed, and this was the best option we found. It seems like a decent solution with (and only with!) the additional weights to help hold it in place.The assembly wasn't horrible but could definitely be better. There were no instructions included, and the screws were a little difficult to get in straight and to tighten sufficiently.

I had a C-section and my bed is normal height but decided to sleep downstairs on the sofa for the first two weeks. This definitely came in handy while downstairs when I needed help getting up & my husband’s hands were full because of the baby. I currently use it upstairs to help me get out of bed while I’m holding my baby. It’s a good aid for when you need that little extra help.

Looks nice, but in real life, it is too lightweight, and IMO the stabilizing legs are entirely too short such that it provides a false sense of security. We have since discarded ours but thank you

It worked out great! It’s easy to assemble and it’s pretty sturdy. I bought it for my mother because she was having a hard time picking herself up but she only had her walker to give her some assistance and it just wasn’t enough support anymore. She’s loving it plus it helped her gain some of her independence back. Definitely recommend it!!! I promise you will love it.

This support stand has been a real help for my 99 year old father as he manoeuvres himself in and out of his wheelchair. It’s remarkable sturdy and gives him just the support he needs to stand, however briefly. Happy to recommend.
