5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
Everything just works the way it should. App is great and it’s easy to use. Banana clips make for easy and durable connections. Has more than enough power for a large space with good speakers. I love it. More than happy with its performance. Great value for the money! Got it for $349; work so much more.
5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful amplifier
The auto tune made a huge difference with quality of the sound. Using two Klipsch R600Malong with a Klipsch 12 inch R series powered sub. In addition to these cabinets I'm using twoAR TX650. The cabinets are loaded with a 12 inch, a six inch mid range and a dome style titanium tweeter. Before the auto tune I was disappointed with the sound quality.Once the auto tune was activated and set it was a different system. The system sounds like a live stage with a nice PA. The Band is in my living room ⁸7with me. Big sound, very transparent. Recommend. The built in Bluetooth works great
4.0 out of 5 stars Only tested the amplifier (the only thing that really matters). Sounds decent, but not great.
Today's receivers are loaded with tons of features and new format capabilities, and are placed in a package that is reasonably affordable. But at what cost? What typically suffers in this trade off between all the bells and whistles and, what is supposed to matter most on a piece of electronics like this, how the freakin' thing sounds? Well this Onkyo sounds typical of many affordable receivers that are available nowadays. Just decent enough to do the job, but under close scrutiny, it sounds somewhat harsh and grading in the upper midrange and highs. It's somewhat thin when pushed to higher volume levels. Older receivers had some of these same attributes, but not to this degree. In my opinion, cost cutting in AV receivers has hit hardest in the area of overall sound quality and, to some extent, materials used. Some wonder why the home theater market has shrunk to only hardcore hobbyists and wealthy audiophiles. Are average people clamoring to set up Dolby Atmos arrays of speaker set ups in their family room? Or would they just like something that sounds awesome when you crank to volume?
5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice AV Mid-Grade Receiver
Unbeatable price on Bolo/Adorama on this very capable receiver. I’d recommend this for anyone looking for a capable and flexible AV Receiver. The remote control and the app are a little dated but functional. The description wants you to think that it’s a 210 watts per channel receiver. It’s really rated at 210W/Ch at 10%THD with a single channel driven! With 2 channels driven it’s 100W/Ch at 0.08% THD. Overall, driving 5 or 7 or 9 channels, it may be sufficient but could be under powered in a large room. The receiver is replacing a Sony receiver in a spare room and powering 5.1 system, mainly to add the Network capabilities. I also have a six year old Onkyo TX-NR646 that powers another 5.1 system along with 5 sets of stereo speakers on Zone 2, throughout the house and patio. And it does a great job powering all speakers. Overall, there’s very little difference between this and a six years older receiver. Unfortunately, each receiver uses a different app.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent sounding Receiver!
First off let me start off with I bought this as open item got it and box was beat up bad ( like dropped off the back of a truck bad lol 😜) That said had two problems: 1 remote was crushed and non usable 2 back of receiver was dented but nothing loose just dented immediately left message with seller…Seller confirmed my problems and asked if I wanted to keep it and receive partial refund so I could purchase another remote and for dents I decided to keep it and except partial refund this is 350.00 + tax for new got it for a very reasonable price and customer service was outstanding got it up and running and could not be happier sounds awesome with my Klipsch speakers who cares about couple large dents you really don’t see anyway Thank you Bolo! 😎👍👍👍
1.0 out of 5 stars Quality stinks
New version of this brand totally sucks. It should get better not worse. Bluetooth doesn’t stay connected. You have to reset by unplugging from outlet. Can’t handle the watts. My old receiver was much better. Would never buy this brand again.
5.0 out of 5 stars Much Better Than Expected
This Onkyo receiver is much better than I anticipated. Physical setup, connecting speakers and other devices, was simple but a little time consuming. That is just the nature of the beast. I was amazed that once all the connections were complete the setup microphone balanced my 5.1 surround speakers perfectly. It has more power than my previous Onkyo AV receiver (which I retired after 14 years) and sounds amazing. The zone 2 feature, along with the Bluetooth connectivity is great for my outdoor patio speakers and phone. And with the Onkyo phone app it's a breeze to manage the system from outside. This was also another feature that attracted me to this device. Once, by accident, I found that I was streaming music from my streaming service indoors and outside my iTunes app was playing, both from the same phone. Some advice about the setup: When following the setup guide and it says that if you want to ONLY use the zone 2 speakers and not the main speakers you need to set the main speakers to standby mode. It took me a while to understand that what they mean is that you select an unused/inactive HDMI port for the main speakers. There is not a "standby" feature/setting. Overall, this device exceeded my expectations and was an exceptionally good price. Last note: While extremely pleased with this AVR I will reserve final judgement until it dies or is retired, whichever comes first.
3.0 out of 5 stars So so
Sounds decent and powers my Klipsch Synergy 5.1 system well and easily. Doesn’t heat up like my Sony did. It’s a pain to set up though. I don’t use it for tv as I don’t watch much. You have to run HDMI through a tv though to properly set this unit up. So I had to buy an HDMI cable. Also this disconnects from my bluetooth fairly regularly. I like to play nature sounds at night and I’ll wake up to it being off due to Bluetooth disconnect. Nothing moves so I don’t understand how or why this happens. My Sony never did this. Also the range for the Bluetooth is lacking. It breaks up after going downstairs. It’s inconsistent with this as well. Working great then all of a sudden signal starts dropping and the phone has not moved. Really annoying and might be enough for me to just get something else at this point.
Excelente!
Marca de nome forte qualidade maravilhosa , satisfeito.
Excelente sonido!!!!
They replaced the one with issue and new one is working great. (Edited)
Update- They replaced with new one after repeating the same issue. I waited for this update for more than another year. It is working great as of October 2022. I appreciate their customer service and now giving them 5 star.Old review below-Well, it has been a year and a half that I am using this amp. It is a really nice amp, I enjoy its many features including ARC, Dolby Surround, Built-in Chromecast, Alexa and Google Voice Command, Mobile App Control etc. Unfortunately, it recently started auto shut off (goes to standby) beyond a certain volume. It started to auto shut off about volume 75 (0 to 100) and then came to around 60. Sent to the authorized repair shop. Shop said, nothing wrong, they reset and tested for hours and it is alright. When I tested it at home again after their 'claimed fix' it shut itself off again. Sent to the same repair shop and now they say they have to replace a part of the board. They have not told me in details yet. They are waiting for the parts.1) There is no short in wiring, yes I triple checked.2) Firmware is auto updated, wired internet.3) 5.1 sound system and the speakers' ohms/watt/amperage drawing is under the capacity of my amplifier.I appreciate that it provided 2 years warranty and parts and labor are included but the unit being repaired for defects within 2 years does not inspire confidence at all. I would give 4.5 stars for its features and my experience prior the issue but only giving 3 stars for the defect and that is possible because of its warranty otherwise would give 2 (repair is underway and it can go anyway from parts not found to testing failed in future). I just hope the issue is only my unit but I also doubt that too because there are many people in online forums sharing same issues like mine.
