About this item:
The GE-branded Personal Security Window and Door Alarms provide a simple-to-use, cost-effective security solution to protect against home invasions. The 120-decibel alarms are loud enough to make a would-be intruder think twice about entering through your doors or windows. Each alarm features an easy-access CHIME/OFF/ALARM switch — this straightforward design makes your security setup intuitive and streamlined. With no wires required for installation, protecting an entry point is as easy as mounting the alarm using the included double-sided tape. When a door or window is opened the alarm’s base becomes separated from its magnet, triggering a gentle chime or ringing alarm. Powered by 4 LR44 batteries (included), the LED indicator on the front will notify you when power is low. This set of GE-branded Personal Security Window and Door Alarms are perfect for homes, apartments, dorm rooms, offices, RVs, campers and much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Affordable Pool Alarm with options
To comply with safety codes when having a pool, I needed to replace a couple of old alarms on doors that lead out to our swimming pool. On the old ones, the only way to turn them off was to remove the 9-volt battery. What's really great with these door alarms is they have three settings which include an on/off switch, a door chime, as well as a loud door alarm. My only wish is that they had a volume control, but overall, I am very satisfied with their size, features, and ease of installation.
5.0 out of 5 stars Who Let the Dogs Out?
My car was broken into in March and the steering column was tampered with in an attempt to steal the car. The man who tried the theft looked up at our cameras as he walked up our driveway, right under a bedroom window, and took only seconds to break into the car. Our dogs never made a sound, and so we heard nothing. It was all caught on our neighbor's cameras and our neighbors also heard nothing as their two dogs never barked either These dogs bark at kids walking by, motorcycles, school buses going down the street, and birds if they chatter loudly, but they slept through the breaking in. I felt unsafe and unable to sleep.I ordered these alarms in the hopes it would keep someone from entering our home or, at the very least, alert us by making the dogs bark! We also have a young child who visits our home from time to time and a pool, this child can run like the wind so an adult is always nearby, so this alarm would give us a heads up before he even gets the door open. It is loud. I know everyone leaving a review says it is loud, so believe it. They are very loud. The alarms can be installed in a minute and work perfectly if you line them up correctly. The adhesive strips stick very well on metal and vinyl. Mine has been turned on and off several times a day and the adhesive has not given way at all. They are simple to turn on and off, so I set them every night before I go to sleep. I dread someone in the house forgetting to slide the button down to turn them off before they try to open the door or bedroom windows because I jump out of my skin. About those dogs; mine dogs go insane from the chime and the alarm sounds. One of them is an escape artist or should I say, he was. He used to push a screen door open and let himself out into a fenced in yard but now he dreads setting off the alarm and waits for the alarm to be turned off. If anyone sets it off by accident we have an immediate three ring circus of noise, bedlam.I think the noise factor between the alarm and the dogs will certainly be a deterrent for would be thieves, and probably scare off univited company as well.
4.0 out of 5 stars A limited alarm that provides limited security very effectively.
---04/02/2015 UPDATE---Bolo's stellar-as-always customer service sent me a replacement 2-pack (and paid for the return shipping for the defective pack). I've had these installed in my flat for about four months now. Four stars because "I like it", but that's because I don't expect anything that it can't deliver.Let's get real: these are rated highly because they're extremely loud and very inexpensive. They're not rated highly because they are advanced security. They're great for guarding against the kids opening something they shouldn't, and they're so-so for using as a door chime (it's much too loud to keep on all the time, but a good defense against small children wandering away). I bought them so I can truthfully tell my insurance company that I have burglar alarms installed, to get a home-security discount on my property insurance. I'll be taking them with me when I move out to another home.I'll say it again: the siren is LOUD. It will most definitely cause temporary (or permanent) hearing damage if you're exposed to it for more than a few seconds at a time. Even the chime (a loud, shrill, electronic 'ding-dong') hurts a bit if you're right under it when it sounds.Even so, if you're truly serious about protecting yourself against burglary or home invasion, then for goodness' sake, spend more than $9. With proper placement, will this startle the bejeezus out of someone breaking in? Yes, but only briefly. Anybody with half a brain will be able to locate the siren within a few seconds, and will probably notice the easily-accessed switch on the side to turn it off. That means this alarm is really only useful if A) the burglar is easily scared off, or B) there's somebody around to hear it and investigate. I knew that when I bought them, and was fine with it. They do exactly what I expect them to, and they do that limited thing very well. They were easy for me to install. I took about 10 minutes with each one, determining the best way to install it on my flat's wonky doorframes, testing tolerances and distances, and installing carefully. If you wanted to install them in 90 seconds each, though, you could easily do that. They come with custom-cut 3M Command Strip adhesive pads. Peel, stick, press, peel, stick, press, done. They use included button-cell batteries. A green LED flashes when the siren sounds to show that the unit is working correctly; it doesn't stay lit. This will probably not protect your house while you're on vacation, but it will keep your smaller children where they're supposed to be, and will likely protect your doors while you're sleeping at night. For $9, that's a pretty great deal.---12/10/2014 ORIGINAL REVIEW---Temporary two stars because the speaker in one of the alarms was dead right out of the package. The LED turns on just fine, but no noise gets emitted. The other unit is fine, and works quite well, but what good is a two-pack when only one works? Currently working with Bolo to get a replacement, and will update with a full review once I have a fully working package.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great alarms
These little alarms are loud and clear. They are sensitive to the slightest movement and I learned quickly to turn them off when we had bad weather which just goes to show that they work well!I had an attempted break in and because of these alarms I was able to get my grandson out of the room and call the police before the intruder was able to get in my house. I highly recommend these.
