4.0 out of 5 stars Read this before you buy! Edit 3 days later, rating goes up for now. Second edit, up to 4 stars.
I'm giving this 1 star for now. I received it fast, the packaging wasn't great, styrafoam mess and it looked like it had been man-handled pretty well on the way to my house, not the sellers fault but still. Before you do anything, like mounting this to your wall or ceiling, BE SURE TO PLUG IT IN TO AN OUTLET AND TEST IT FIRST. Before anything else! Firstly, you have to release the emergency stop button by twisting it, I've seen some people haven't figured that out yet. Anyway, I plugged it in, and pushed the down button and it seemed to work just fine. BUT, it will NOT go back up. The controller is very low quality and feels super cheap. Also, the cable to plug it in is only 20" so keep that in mind. I never saw that info when I was researching this one, but I may have missed it. There goes my weekend project, now I have to do yard work, ugh. This is going back and I'm not sure if I want the same unit, I may spend a little more for something with a bit higher quality. Hope this helps and if you buy one, I hope it works for you!Edit: 3 days later. I recieved the replacement today. Packaging was in MUCH MUCH better shape (2nd and 3rd pictures). I have plugged it in before final install, and the up and down buttons both work, including the limit switch. Star rating from me has gone from 1 to 3 stars, however I would realistically give it 2 1/2 stars. Hope to have this fully installed by this weekend and will update my review and star rating then.Edit: About a week later. I received my replacement (as stated above). I was able to mount this to my ceiling using a small pice of 7/8" strut and (4) 3/8" lag screws with some washers to use as spacers between the ceilign and strut, since the 2 hole strap has a arc to it. I was able to actually mount this by myself too once I had 2 of the lag screws inm, I just slip the unit on the strut and installed the last 2 lag screws. Please note, in order to get the 440lbs lift rating you must use the other sheave that comes with it and loop it back up and attached the hook to the unit itself (see close up photo), otherwise, it's only rated for 220lbs. I found this out the hard way, as I started to lift my hardtop off my Bronco I heard something weird. I stopped and the cable had twisted or frayed or something weird (see photo). It's still usefull I believe, and it DID lift the hard top, I just couldn't get my vehilcle lined up perfectly for the hard top to clear the set pins... basically my ceiling is almost too low for this. Also upo lifting for the first time somehow the metal pice that contacts the limit switch to stop the hoist from raising, got behind the button so for about 20 minutes I thought this unit had also failed until I looked closer.Bottom line is this unit WILL work for what I intend it to, I just need to line up my vehicle in the garage perfectly and the straps (I purchased seperate straps) and this should do the trick. I just hope it lasts.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works as expected
The media could not be loaded. I use this to bring hay bales up into my barn loft. I have a very small barn and cannot justify getting a conveyor. Works nicely. Saves a ton of work.
5.0 out of 5 stars Be Aware! High Quality
I opened the box and was surprised after looking over and testing the hoist. It is VERY good quality and much better than I expected for the price. The motor, housing, cable and remote are very well made. I highly recommend this product.
5.0 out of 5 stars works well. Cord does get a little misshaped if abused. hard to mount against a wall
I use the winch to pull a trolley in a strut up and down basement stairwell ceiling as a laundry assist. My wife has popped the trolley out of the track a few times causing some bending in the cable. I mounted on the wall about the door , it was tricky but I did it with lag bolts and boards.
5.0 out of 5 stars Does the Heavy Lifting for You
This VIVOHOME hoist was and is a life/back saver that's already paid for itself with one job. I purchased this because I needed to replace the water heater in my attic. After removing the attic stairway, I rigged up a beefy, wooden gantry over the opening and hung the hoist across the opening using 1/8-inch square tubing. After draining the old tank filled with 20 years of sediment, I was able to get it to the opening by attaching two 3/4-inch T fittings and 1/4-inch wire rope to it and slowly moving it into position. This hoist was able to safely lower it to the floor without a hiccup. The next step was to move the new 145-pound water heater and hoist it up. I tested the rigging by attaching the hoist cable, using the same setup as before, and let it hang about a foot off the floor for 15 minutes, just to make sure it would hold. Afterward, I climbed into the attic and, with the remote in hand, was able to move it high enough to where I could muscle it the rest of the way in and into position. This one job alone probably saved me more money than the cost of the hoist. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the remote wire should be about 3 feet longer. I’m 6’3” so I can operate it standing on the floor but, I do have to reach for it, whereas someone shorter would have a difficult time with it. I plan to replace the remote cable with a longer one in the future and use the hoist as an attic lift for storage in my shop.
5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!
I own a transmission shop for automotive. Transmissions are very heavy and sometimes hard to get on a work bench. I just purchased my second one of these. The 1st one, I purchased more than 10 years ago, and it is still working. I just needed another one and didn't even think of trying a different one. I have to say that it is very durable. I do not in anyway service my equipment well. As a matter of fact, I really abuse it on a daily basis. Nothing else I have owned in the 37 years I've been in business, has every worked this hard or lasted this long under these conditions. Yes.. I mean , SNAP-ON, MAC, MATCO, CORNWELL, have nothing of this quality. That's rite there says it all. I wish everything I had was built this well. WELL DONE!!

Best BANG for the buck for this Canuck!
I just bought a new 100lb ebike, and it is not something I want to store inside my home nor my shed. The only comfortable place I wanted to have it stored in would be my garage. However, real estate is prime in it.I used a few simple things such as galvanized truss plates from Home Depot and 1.5" X 1/10" 4FT square iron bar from Princess Auto. I was able to hang the hoist on the rafters of my garage roof under 1 hour. The 220/440 lb is what I have and I think it is perfect for what I wanted to use it for. Storing my heavy ebike without spending a small fortune for a reassembled product shipped from Scandinavia. This is My Best DIY of 2024.
Great lift power
Does a great jobLifts fantastic
Decent but hooks mouth could be bigger
The hoists hook mouth is a bit narrow. Made it difficult to fit even smaller lifting rings in there. But great value for the price, it gets the job done for sure. Its been a life saver a few times now when I needed to move something weighing a few hundred pounds or more by myself. I wish it came with the matching mounting channel because I had to try to find one online that would fit after not finding anything that would fit in the local big box hardware stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Rona etc.
Price and ease of use.
Attached to a ceiling rail in my garage, rigged so I can drop it to pick up winter/summer tires that are on a racks 5ft up. Safer, no heavy lifting, just gentle guiding. Even takes and drops them into my trunk.
