(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } We absolutely love this PetSafe Cat Litter Box—it’s been a lifesaver for our multi-cat (and dog!) household.✅ Easy to Use & Cost-Effective – Instead of using disposable trays, we opted for a reusable litter tray, which cuts down on long-term costs. It works perfectly and is easy to clean!🐱 Great for Finicky Cats – One of our cats is extremely picky and didn’t like the dust-free litter we originally used. We switched to Pretty Litter, and the box still works flawlessly—no issues with tracking or sensor problems. Both cats now use it without complaints!🐶 Dog-Proof Design – The hooded tray keeps our nosy dogs out, which is a huge relief. No more stolen "snacks" or litter scattered everywhere. This litter box is versatile, durable, and worth every penny—highly recommend, especially if you have multiple pets with different preferences!
5.0 out of 5 stars 4 months use, can properly review now
My cat is a picky man, he’s been used to the same litter & food that we can never stray away from the brands he likes. I hate cleaning the litter box multiple times a day for his liking, he will force me to follow him to the litter box to clean it for it before he uses it. It was exhausting. The reviews I read before purchasing complained about not being able to use regular clumping litter & that it still leaves litter out of the box & needing to sweep it up all the time. That’s honestly life with a cat so if you’re complaining about that, I’d say get those cat litter mats. There’s no solution to that problem. Now, the litter is more expensive but it’s worth it. The compartment that stores that waste isn’t big enough to store clumping litter accumulated over long periods.I started using my regular clumping litter at first without any of the litter that’s for this specific litter box, knowing my cat was not going to touch it if it didn’t smell/feel like the litter he’s used to. I did that for about a month until I was done having to clean out the waste compartment every couple days. It would get so full that the smell would start to escape from it. I didn’t like that, obviously. So my second month I started to mix the clumping litter my cat is used to with the litter that goes with it. I kept adding more & more litter that goes with the machine until I stopped using the clumping litter altogether. My cat got used to it this way & this litter is much easier to work with. It absorbs urine much much better, there is literally no smell at all, & it doesn’t really stick to his poops so you aren’t loosing litter when it gets sifted into the waste compartment. So yes, it’s more expensive but it does last a longer time! The machine is easy to set up. I put a cat litter mat underneath it to catch the litter that falls around it, there is some that needs to be swept up but an easy fix (sweep it up). My cat came around to loving it more than the other litter box with his regular favorite clumping litter. I’ve finally been able to tuck that one away.If cleaning litter box multiple times a day is a chore to you (it was for me), definitely get this! There’s still maintenance; switching it out every couple months, sweeping litter up daily, etc, but you don’t need to sift the litter 🤷🏻♀️ it’s a win for me.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, no removable compartment to dump between tray changes
Edit-So I see the newest generation of this box and I am so upset I didn't see this anywhere for purchase when I bought the original. I feel like I bought a money pit with these trays and crystal litter and it doesn't even have the removable bin like the newest. This new one is everything I wanted but I didn't see it was available anywhere although the release date was July 17 and I bought mine July 29. Pretty bummed. I wish I had the opportunity to get the newest version when I made my purchase.Other than shedding hair, having to scoop a litter box is the only drawback to having a cat, in my opinion. I have a new kitten. I bought this litter box knowing I didn't want to scoop, obviously. I also have two older cats who will be coming back to live with me after a few years of travel nursing. I figured I needed to make the litter maintenance streamlined with an automated box. I was also hoping it would keep any smells down to zero.So far, this is my experience. First off, the litter trays are super expensive, nearly cost prohibitive. But if used properly, it is not so bad in comparison to the cost of clay litter for multiple cats, and you might as well get the reusable tray and buy the fresh step crystals. I have one kitten, and the only way I can avoid replacing a whole tray in less than a week is by removing the scooped poo from the stored compartment. I think this is how it should be used, and it just isn't clarified. Any other auto box is going to require you to remove the scooped poo, but the difference with this one is that it doesn't have a removable compartment you can dump. You have to remove the poo yourself. This is still better than scooping the old-fashioned way. Just grab gloves hold your nose, lift the storage compartment and hurry it into a bag. This will extend the life of the trays. That compartment fills and stinks in less than a week with a kitten. It has to have the clumps removed. Otherwise, you have to change the whole tray at least weekly, and this is just with a kitten. If you are going to replace the whole tray every time the compartment is full, then you might as well pay the 699 for one of those fancier contraptions that use the regular litter. By the time you pay for disposable litter trays on a weekly basis for the life of this box, you will have bought several of the high-priced fancy ones over and over. That compartment fills and stinks in less than a week with a kitten. It has to have the clumps removed. It does have some litter spill out of the compartment in the front end, and it sits. It is not a lot at all. Make sure you clean out from under there from time to time; it is a scant amount. I started putting a puppy pad under it so orders don't absorb into the floor. Not a big deal. The litter doesn't track at all. Have never used this crystal litter, but I love it.The kitten loves the box. At first, he freaked out by the fact it moved, but no problem with using it. When it's quiet and starts working 20 minutes after its last use, we forget we have it and think someone is in the house, and then we both remember it's just the box and go back to relaxing. It's pretty quiet, though. My boyfriend loves that it is a clean way to manage litter; he is not a fan of cats and worries it will smell, but he is warming up to the cat and to the whole idea with this box.
Se me daño y no lleva ni 3 meses de uso.

Terrible
Worth the jump if you can afford
From other reviews I’ve noticed people commenting on a few things, so here’s my take on those issues.Price - yup, definitely more expensive to run than traditional litterScent - smell freeeeeeeee, right until the last few poops. Then just as smelly as normal litter, but 95% of the time smell free and if I didn’t want the 5% I could change the tray earlierWalking on balls - yup, think tiny Lego, they’re annoying, but just as annoying as regular litterTimeline - my two guys are going through it faster than the ads claim, but I do not care! This litter is ridiculously easy to use, I never have to touch cat litter or wash the bottom, super clean and sooooooo much better for smell. I am obsessed with it and it’s worth the high price point for what I am getting.
It’s 🤷🏻♀️
Mmm no that much , the tray is made from cardboard and for its price at least include the stainless steel tray
The most useless high value purchase of my life
Honest review after 5 months of usage. Absolute garbage product. Your workload increases 10 times.1. You still have to scrape.2. In addition you need to clean the box as well and the grills (ewwww).Choice is yours if you want to pay for more work!
I love this product
I bought another litter box from petsafe and returned and bought this instead. though this one is more expensive but this one works so much better. it was easy to setup and so far my cat is using it regularly without any problem. and I also like the count option and digital health tracker.
