I grew up on Southeast Asian cuisine such as Vietnamese, Thai and Khmer food so having fish sauce was a must. This sauce was very pleasant to cook with. It reminds me of Squid Brand fish sauce but just in a trendier package.I cooked shrimp with onions and tomatoes with this, along with some stir fried dark meat chicken with basic veggies and the flavor matched what memory serves. The render chicken schmaltz along with black pepper, soy sauce, oyster sauce and this fish sauce made a wonderful sauce to suspend that stir fry in. Over pillowy white rice and it was heavenly. Don't get me going on the shrimp dish, it's a southeast Asian classic and Tomatoes and Onions cooked with soy/oyster/fish sauce is a hard hitting home cooked meal.Even my wife, who is Austrian American, loves this fish sauce. But then again she loves stinky cheeses and all that funky stuff also so she's probably not the common barometer for it :).If you haven't used fish sauce before, it's a great flavor enhancer and umami bomb. The smells pretty potent but it cooks out and it really adds a punch to your dish. Even the late Anthony Bourdain suggest people who normally wouldn't use it to add it into things like their stuffing for Thanksgiving. Some of the best Guacomole some of my friends and guest of the family had was at a July 4th party where my sister used a little fish sauce with your normal Pico, Lime, and Avocado and people couldn't stop eating it. I think this Red Boat Fish sauce is a good one to get to try Fish Sauce out.

Have ordered this item before in a smaller size. Was a bit surprised that it was larger this time around, but it was totally fine. Still not too large. I was not paying attention to that detail when ordering. Great product, especially for those with shellfish allergy, like me! I believe this is made in the place devoted to only this product. Specialized.. Will keep on hand to add to many dishes! Excellent value for money.

I usually purchase the common brands of fish sauce (mostly the 3 Crabs or the Squid brand), but I wanted a fish sauce lower in sodium level, so I started searching online. I came across Red Boat fish sauce that had lower sodium level than the other two brands that I usually buy. Even though the price for Red Boat is higher, the reviews sounded interesting, so I decided to give it a try. I really didn't think I would notice a difference but there is a lighter and fuller taste to it!! I'll be sticking with this brand of fish sauce for a while, until I can locate a lower sodium fish sauce with no added extra ingredients - Red Boat only has salt and fish. And if I never find a lower sodium fish sauce with only 2 ingredients, then I'm sticking with it for a long time :-)

I found this because of a hot YouTube food writer from Thailand. One of the best food people out there, who gives great tips not only on cooking but how to find the best products, plus is entertainingly genuine. I'm never disappointed. She ranked this high. Several other good reviewers have supported her. I tried a couple much more expensive brands, and while at least one was very good, it was not better. Oh, and I noticed that Costco offers this in some stores, just not mine.

Exceptional quality worth the cost
As always this is a premium product that is, in my opinion. the best fish sauce that adds the intensity without excessive salt. The shipping cost however was exorbitant. Given how hard this product is to come by it either pay the shipping of go without. I bought 4 bottles to get the most from the shipping cost.
Absolutely love this stuff
I can't get enough of this stuff I put it on every single meal, breakfast lunch and dinner.I sift it through a extremely fine mesh sifter and then put it in a food grade oil sprayer so I can spritz it all over my food.I have many food intolerances and can't have carbs or sugars. It only has two ingredients 25% salt & 75% anchovies.It's a little pricey but worth every cent for me.The fermentation is very good for your stomach microbiome. If you need to avoid fodmaps do NOT consume this!
