I love this machine. Makes great espresso and coffee. Super easy to use and keeps me caffeinated. My guest like it too as it is a pretty neat little coffee maker. It is loud and slow to warm up, but the coffee is fabulous.

I am happy I received a new coffee maker. The first one was used so I returned. This time great new machine. It quoted grinds quietly. The coffee is smooth end velvety. The size is perfect for my countertop. Great purchase . Quality item easy to use with different settings. Love🥰

A friend recommended a Phillips 5400 to me. I didn’t need a lot of those features, so I scaled down a bit.The Phillips 2200 makes good coffee. That’s about as much as I need to say about that. I’ve been using pods for years, but now I am free.The water reservoir is painfully small, and the waste bin fills quickly. An awful lot of water ends up in the waste tray. These two negatives are not a big deal. I suspect that even higher price machines have the same issues.The packaging is very thorough, which was a bit annoying but also reassuring. Outside of beating on the box with a hammer, this machine should arrive in good condition.4 stars. If the longevity claims are correct, I’ll be buying a new coffee maker in about 18 years. If it really does last that long, the next one will be Phillips as well.Now, that’s where my original review ended. That was within a few days of originally receiving this machine. Since then, the machine has started making odd noises and behaving strangely. Last night I cleaned the brew group and troubleshot issues for a few hours. Nothing seemed to help; the machine was only making a few drops of coffee at a time.I finally had the time to dig deeper today. On a Phillips support site, I finally found my answer. I thought there was no way it was such an easy fix, but I was wrong. My problem was the filter, and removing it instantly fixed my issue.Don’t fret! If something goes wrong, Phillips absolutely has a solution.

I have been shopping for this type of coffee maker for some time (sick of k-cups). I initially bought a much more expensive brand but returned it (to complicated to clean etc.). This coffee maker is excellent. Was so easy to set up and Coffee tastes great. Cappuccino feature is so convenient and produces great froth. I guess the only negative is the size of the water tank and that it pushes out water into the collection tray with every self cleaning. I just keep a small glass bowel to remedy it. Overall, I am super happy with my Phillpps!!!

The machine looks very nice, professional and everything. I was excited to get it. Then I made coffee with it and it was just bad. I thought, I need to practice more, so I tried different coffee beans, different settings, but still... The regular coffee that comes out of this thing is what my French mother would have called "dirty socks juice". Really, just brown water, even at the highest strength setting and with a very dark roast bean. The espressos were barely okay, without much crema. The cappuccino was good, but basically any mediocre coffee will taste good with great frothed milk (that part worked well!) and sugar. I won't even discuss the various weird behaviors of the machine pouring water at the end or at the beginning of a cycle, and warning you about all sorts of issues, except when the beans run out and you get water. Finally, I started reading about all sorts of technical issues people have after a few months and the poor support from Philipps.Definitely not worth the $649 price it commands, and not even the $450 with typical discounts. I returned it after 2 weeks, and really trying to like it. My $25 French press makes way better coffee, so does my nespresso Vertuo when I am in a hurry. I decided to buy a manual espresso machine and a good burr grinder for less than half the price, we'll see if I'm happier with that choice.

5 month update - I originally gave this a 5-star review but now I just can’t. I did love the machine overall then I had issues with the milk container leaking luckily as it’s under warranty I got a quick replacement. Then one day it totally stopped working, after descaling and trouble shooting for 2 days I found the 3 way valve to be broken. After calling customer support, being hung up on 3 times I’m told I need to ship it to a repair company and the anticipated time away is 30 days or more. Super disappointed that using this machine 2-3 times a day, taking immaculate care of it, cleaning the brew group as indicated, changing water filter etc it just breaks. This is not a cheap item and should last more than 5 months. Again as amazing as it is (when it works) proceed with caution.I used this machine on a cruise ship and was so impressed I came home and bought one. I have to say I absolutely love this thing! The cappuccinos are to die for with a perfect amount of silky smooth milk foam! Worth every penny! Highly suggest!

This is a great, fully automatic espresso, coffee and cappuccino maker. Very easy to use and it makes great coffee drinks. The bean compartment could be a bit larger, but that's the only criticism I can come up with. It works as well as many of the much more expensive machines out there, great value for money.

Update 1 year:Still running perfectly. I clean the machine regularly, rinse off the brew unit once a week in hot water and wipe out the inside where the brew unit rests, then I hand wash the waste tub and drip tray every few days (1-2 times a week) I cannot stress enough the need to make sure the settings for the beans, the temp, and the water hardness are correctly done for the best results.one year on and not a single issue. perfect coffee every time, I've gotten 3 other family members and a few friends to buy their own machine because they're jealous of mine. Beware though - you may become a coffee snob. I cannot drink Tim Hortons anymore.Easily one of the best coffee machines i've used.I've had 3 different Saeco machines over the years and this one stands out quite a bit.notes I like.Self cleaning before and after a coffee is made.Expresso quantity and quality is excellent.Temperature control.water hardness setting.when the machine runs out of either beans, or water it will hold the next cup (if doing a double)Setting this Machine up correctly. ( setting heat, Water hardness, using filter or filtered water etc) will result in probably the best coffee you've ever tasted. period.I use Coffee level 3-5 either medium roast beans for more aromatic coffee(level 3), or stronger expresso beans (level 5) harsher coffee.my personal favorite is a medium arabic or cuban coffee.I tried, but don't use the milk froth attachment. its fine and all, but if i need a latte i'll usually heat my milk separately and add to the cup for a creamer taste (i use 3.25% (or more) milk)for the simplicity, ease of cleaning, and the amount of water lost (waste) with this model over the few others i've had in the past, this one is the best unit i've bought now in the past few years.the brew unit is easy to clean, and the machine in general is quite easy to keep in order.I use reverse osmosis filtered water, so the coffee is always of a consistent quality. I'll never need to use the added filter, so i get more water volume in the tank than with the filter. this saves time too as I'll never need to run the descaler. using the best water for the best coffee is always the best option.if you take care of this unit, clean it regularly and use good quality beans (at the right settings) this machine will easily last you years.Bought this while on sale new unopened box. I was lucky. Don't accept open / used items if you paid full price. return the unit for replacement if you receive an open box.

Acceptable quality for the price.
Works as described. Only drawback is the grinder on top does not feed entire contents to the grinder. You have to push the coffee beans periodically to the grinders feeding hole. Other than that, it works great! Quality of coffee and espresso is good. The temperature of water is not burning hot though like you get at your local coffee shop, but all these types of machines are same.

Compré esta cafetera para sustituir mi vieja Saeco Incanto a la cual ya cada vez es mas difícil encontrar refacciones y cuando vi la promoción decidí comprarla. La maquina se ve muy práctica en el funcionamiento pero tiene sus trucos… Aprender a usarla no es tan intuitivo como se ve en los videos. En mi caso veo que el café no sale cremoso como con la anterior cafetera y como se ve en los videos. (Esa espuma que forma cuando se va sirviendo) Por lo mismo el cafe no tiene el mismo sabor, textura y aroma; si alguien tiene algún consejo para ajustar lo agradeceré.
Philips EP2230 Latte to go Espresso machine
Have had product for about 6 weeks and we are happy with it. Espresso brews much stronger than our last machine so we are good with a single dose cappuccino. Nice touch to be able to put both cups under spout and to choose 2 doses (second cycle starts immediately after first). Able to automatically make a cappuccino (haven't figured out how to do lattes, but it doesn't matter as we prefer cappuccinos). Price was excellent and quality is a lot better than one reviewer seems to indicate. Construction is mostly plastic, but durable enough for our needs. One thing we learned from our past experiences with cappuccino makers is that they last much longer if you don't use the built-in frother. The pressure needed to operate the frother is very high so the seals wear out after a while and have to be replaced. By using our external frother we have extended life of our other machine to 8 years and it still keeps on ticking. We bought this one because we thought (wrongly) that the other one was on its last legs. PS This machine is simpler to use and has more space for water and coffee beans than our last one.
