This is a perfect replacement part. Fast shipping, good quality 5 stars!What should have been a 5 minute replacement project took about 1.5 hours. This was mainly due to the fact the old part had rusted to itself. First I tried we40 and scrubbing. Then I had to take the thing part (I also have the performer) so it was more involved.I then needed to cut it off with a cut off tool. Even after this, I was able to support the weight of the entire barrow with the handle (see pic, admire dog)Once removed installing of the part was a breeze. Took a second to think of the 1 was top or bottom but realized later it didn’t matter.New part works great fits well super happy buy!

This kit is quality. It is easy to install. And because of the design in my opinion it works better than the original Weber in that the mechanism is not too tight it seals the vents properly but you don't wind up bending your adjustment rod just to open and close. Again in my opinion I think this is actually superior to the Weber cost less and is easy to install. Recommend.

Execitive summary: This aftermarket damper fits much tighter.I bought this to replace the stock damper on a brand new classic kettle. On my first dry run, I could not keep the temperature down. (I'd already gasketed the lid - that's a given, and used a Slow-n-Sear.)"Air leak."The bottom damper, particularly pedal #1, had a significant gap, 1/16", when closed. That may not seem like much, but it's equivalent to about a 1/2" to 1" diameter hole at the bottom of the grill.The product description states that it's a thicker metal, but it is not. In fact, it's thinner and more "springy", which is not necessarily a bad thing. It's also better stamped and had less edge wrinkles than stock.I'll amend this review once I conduct another test run.

Item arrived on time, well packaged and exactly as advertised. Although there were no instructions included, it is very intuitive on how to assemble. Really, it can only be put together one way. Works great, and replaced my ancient rusted-solid damper easily with no modifications needed.
