This is a high-quality and versatile chess set: It's good-looking enough to display on a side table; it could travel if needed; and the magnetic pieces are perfect not only for travel but also for playing with kids (I bought it for my six-year-old). Plus, when our puppy chewed up a knight, I easily completed a form on the company's website for a replacement piece, which shipped promptly and matches the set. Great product and service.

The media could not be loaded. I only realized this after I bought it. The biggest pieces, queens and kings cannot hold onto the board if the board is tilted more than 45°. This is expected because the magnets are behind the wooden base of the board and the cloth like material on the pieces. I think this is expected, and the best that magnets can do.The thing I did not like much and I think that is a common theme across all kinds of magnetic chessboard is that the pieces are not securely fitted on the inside of the box. They are OK when closed but sometimes although rarely, you might need to just keep the board open with the pieces inside for decoration purpose but that won’t be possible with the board facing up.Also because the inside is black, if there is no good lighting sometimes by mistake where you are sitting, it is very hard to keep the pieces in their place, because since the pieces cannot be kept freely, it’s hard to keep them aligned in the respective places.Besides these nuances generally this board is good for a non-picky average customer if that is you. The wood material is sturdy. it’s well polished everywhere. The pieces are good. The lock is secure the magnets are good for most of the pieces except king and queen because they are tall and heavy and this board is good to be used in a car or train, etc. but not naughty kids around.

This chess set is great! I really love how the pieces stick to the board magnetically which is great for preventing the pieces from falling over if the board gets bumped. The quality of the wood pieces and board is great and I like how all the pieces fit perfectly in their own designated places. It’s great taking camping or on a trip. Great product!

I got this for my family for Christmas. My oldest son (age 7) has enjoyed learning how to play the game. I have liked the holders in the back of the board and the magnet pieces. But the board is a little warped right in the middle. I didn’t notice it at first but the more I play the more I notice it. Great product over all though. It does not interfere with the function of the game, it just annoys me with OCD like tendencies.
