5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome cooler! I'm never going back to liquid AIO
My all-in-one cooler failed and I swapped it out with this and the results were absolutely amazing. I didn't even need two fans to keep my CPU at about 68C Max playing Hogwarts in 4K on my i7 8700K CPU. Idle is around 22C. I could put the second fan in but it would protrude and I couldn't get my front glass on with my particular case but luckily it's not needed with my usage. I guess if you're into overclocking and trying to squeeze every ounce out of the CPU you can use the other fan but for my use for 4K gaming it does great. I checked out a few different tests on line and there was about a 1C difference with 2 fans vs 1. And it's surprisingly quiet, especially for how much air the fan pushes. Most importantly, I don't have to worry about this thing failing like all in one coolers. After this experience to me there's just absolutely no reason in my mind to get an AIO cooler other than lights when this thing works so well. I gave up a little bling from the lights but I'm super happy with no more liquid cooler stress. I think it looks awesome. This thing is super high quality and worth every penny. Install was easy and instructions were clear and everything I needed was supplied. I highly recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Its HUGE.. and its POWERFUL... AND its Quiet..
I built my machine about 3 months ago.. but noticed while the NH-9DL did a good job with the i7-9700K. If I wanted to overclock, it got a bit toasty and unstable. So I looked at a AIO, and after seeing LinusTechTips review of the D15 decided to go with it.A few things I wondered and soon found out:#1 - I have 64GB of ram and noticed the D15 was a bit large, but figured give it a try. As you can see it clears the Ram, BUT didn't clear the other heat spreader on the MB.. ( NOCTUA did say that the second fan may not fit.. )#2 - Although the other fan did not fit exactly where it needed it DID fit in the case about an 1" away from the fins.. and was a big improvement over the original case fan and was close to the intended location.#3 - If curious, YES the original motherboard mount for the NH-9D does work on the new fan so saved me that time and made install even easier.#4 - BONUS the 9D fan with the 15D springs FIT where the 15D Could Not !! So it was like having 3 fans on the cooler ;)#5 - ANOTHER BONUS - They give a number of extension cables for the Fans.. So I was able to mount the fans and get them all power. After doing all that.. I went and got to overclocking.. and stress testing.. I ran Cinebench R20, and custom set it to have 256 render threads to really stress the chip. I then ran them back to back to back until the chip wouldnt get any hotter.. ( an average of 6 times ).As you can see, the results speak for themselves.I went from :89 degrees C when stress testing it in Default settings...to64 degrees MAX when stress testing it WHILE IT WAS OVERCLOCKED !!I was MORE stable overclocked.. ! WOW and WOW and WOW.. Noctua hit it out of the park..As for how loud it is.. it is a LITTLE louder than just the 9D.. but I can't tell you exactly how much as its not a lot.UPDATE:I downloaded OCCT and ran its burnin test, and got to 75C after minutes of maxing everything. The amazing thing is anytime it got off the overclocking settings the CPU dropped back to 35C in a matter of seconds. So unless your both overclocked to 5.1MGZ AND using a LOT of hardcore video or 3D Graphic editing for hours, I think the D15 will keep your system supercool.I personally overclock for gaming, and I DO BIM and 3D Scanning, so I have to process GB size 3D Point clouds, and convert them to Mesh.. THAT does force my CPU to run 100% for a hour to process. BUT even then I never saw higher than 70 and was rock stable the whole time.So I guess what I am saying is custom water cooling MAY do a tad better, but HIGHLY doubt a AIO could do any better at all, and especially not at this cost point and if your upgrading from a Noctua 9 or 12 you can reuse the fans with all the extras that come in the kit here.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Cooler, but a couple of improtant considerations first...
First off, this cooler is a fantastic piece of equipment. You can tell the quality is top notch, from the fin design, to finish, to mounting bracket, to the CPU mounting surface. However, there a couple of "minor" issues:- Listed as 165mm of clearance required, but this doesn't count the front 140mm fan. Depending on your RAM height, you could easily need 180 to 200mm of total CPU cooler clearance to allow the extra fan to be mounted. I'm currently using this cooler in a Fractal Design Define C, so I'm running with only the middle fan- 140mm fan is not as quiet as I'd hoped considering Noctuas reputation. Once I go over a 60% duty cycle, you start to hear the fan motor/bearings pretty audibly. However, it is basically silent under 50% duty cycle.- The top of the fan just has a serial number on it, which isn't the most attractive thing. The Noctua label is on the side with the wire, which I wanted to face down so you don't see it.However, I still give the product 5 overall starts. I mean, it's one of the best coolers out there both in terms of performance and moutning system. I wish all Tower Coolers mounted this easily.Regarding temperatures, it keeps my Ryzen 3700X in the 70C to 78C range under extended Prime 95 load in a 24C room in the Fractal Design Define C case. This is with Noctura 120mm case fans. (2 front, 2 top, 1 rear) At it's stabilize maximums, along with a GTX 1070 running Furmark, it achieves this temperature range while all the fans being around a 60% duty cycle, never needing to kick into their 80C+ aggressive fan curve area. That being said, this case is configured for silence not maximum cooling, so other cases would likely do better. In normal day to day operation, it tends to hover the 40C to 60C area. Still getting used to tweaking the Ryzen 3000 settings, as it has aggressive voltage spikes and boosts by default, so I stabilized fan curves until it gets over 70C to prevent random rev ups. But I digress.Overall, this is a fantastic cooler and I would buy it again.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great performance for the price
You cant go wrong with one of these, not only does Noctua have excellent customer support if something goes wrong, they stand behind their products. This thing is BEAUTIFUL in my PC, i dont mind that its larger, in fact I think it adds a more unique/pleasant look than a normal AIO cooler would. Out performs any name brand liquid cooling and its quiet.
É grande. Tem que ser para uma placa que tenha espaço.
Muito bom, silencioso.
Easy to install, keeps CPU very cool
I was surprised to see my CPU (12900K) at room temperature after power up, and it stayed there. On my other computer with the same CPU but a different cooler the CPU warms up even when not doing much but not with this one.The only way to install the cooler (properly) on my MSI Pro 790 Max Wi-Fi motherboard was blowing front to back, which is typical. My ASUS Pro-Art Z690 is the same way, although it has a slightly smaller cooler. With a bottom to top orientation the pipes get in the way of the memory DIMMs. Even so, the fan on the memory side sits on top of the A2 DIMM, although it does not force it to offset from the radiator by much. I have a decent size case (Fractal Meshify 2) and there is about 3/8" clearance to the left side of the case. If you are considering this fan make sure you have sufficient clearance. My DIMMs are RGB so maybe a bit higher than standard but they were the best Cyber Monday deal at the time.As there are two fans, I connected one to the CPU fan header and the other to the liquid cooler fan header. You can go into the BIOS and easily adjust the second one to the same settings as the CPU fan header on my motherboard, rather than the liquid cooler fan settings. The fan is big and heavy so would need to be removed if transporting the case anywhere. Having said that I would not be afraid to do a remove and replace with this fan (I've already done one) whether for transport or to redo the thermal grease from time to time. Just make sure you follow the instructions to take turns to tighten/loosen the screws a bit at a time to keep the tension balanced between the two.I'm not a gamer so I'm not pushing things to the limit, but so far I'm impressed with the quality and performance. Also I installed it upside-down which makes no difference except that the label is upside-down. Next time I remove it I will reinstall it right-side up, making sure I re-orient the fans, which should always be blowing through the radiator towards the back of the case.
